There are secret recruits in the game such as Cheney in the game that are gotten through special means. To recruit Cheney the Snake Shield mission item must be used during a mission and then afterwards he has a 25% chance to show up. One of the perks of Cheney is he comes with Ultima Shot prelearned as well as being 4 levels higher than the average clan level. There are similar characters for the other races in the game as well but they aren't as useful for the speedrun
Love seeing newer runs of my favorites. Can you explain why you level Marche to 33? (Noting a prior run went to 29) Does that skip a second grind? Good luck in future runs, if any!
The reason that Marche goes to 33 in this route is because he is leveling up as an archer. Previously we'd level him as soldier which has a higher attack stat gain. The main goal for his attack is to be able to one hit KO Babus in Emerald Keep. 33 Archer ends up with roughly the same attack value as a 29 soldier. This ends up being faster simply because in order to grind as a soldier the Boost ability needs to be mastered first. That requires doing the Thesis Hunt mission at the appropriate level, and then doing the grind after, which is actually quite slow. By just grinding as an archer and doing Thesis Hunt afterwards, the time saved outweighs the extra levels we need to get for the desired stats. This also comes with the added benefit of our later party being stronger due to being a higher level whereas the old assassin route didn't rely so much on damage since they could petrify a lot of the enemies. Thanks for the good luck. I still do runs from time to time but getting a decent personal best at this point comes down to a lot of things needing to line up just right
When forbidden laws come into act some cases you really can level up your units especially Marche is useful too. eg. during Ultima crystals battle you can do the mission while Charm forbidding law is up on the day.
If only there was a way to increase the average level as quickly while keeping him in the clan. Sadly keeping him alive means leveling him up more which just adds another 10 minutes to the grind and run overall. I did one run once of "Save Monty" and managed a 3:59 without routing things super well. I might revisit that idea sometime to see how low it could go

how can u learn ultima shot, i only see cranequin 3:00:08 then you alrdy have ultima shot at 3:03:42

I did run FFTA2 briefly a long time ago but didn't enjoy the run nearly as much. I might go back to it sometime in the future though

I know you needed to off MB, but it hurt to see. I love making him a gunner with juggler skills on a casual playthrough
