Thanks for posting this. Met Mike Duvall still have autographed t shirts. True gentleman great competor. RIP. Gave an awesome testimony of his faith at Flintstone Flyer night at Gaffney.
Back in the day, the big G was the place to go for the best weekly super late model racing. A big fast high banked half mile and regulars like Mike Duvall, Hot Rod lamance, Buck Simmons, Jack Pennington, Ed Basey, Ed Gibbons, Ricky Weeks, etc. And that was just a regular weekly show! At Big shows, you might see the likes of Bloomquist, Purvis, Freddy Smith and others. No doubt about it, that was the heyday of dirt track racing!
Had the pleasure of watching this man race at Pennsboro, WV. Back in 1988, sitting hillside with my Dad. I remember him telling me "keep your eye on that flinstone flyer". RIP Mr Duvall
I didn’t know he passed. I attended his school for late models. Car setups, some driving instruction with a few laps in a car. He was a great guy, first time I ever heard someone pronounce words in a Deep South Carolina draw. He would say “ now, drive off down in the cowna, turn that sterrin wheel, wait till the weight shifts and go wop!” I loved it! RIP Flinstone Flyer!
Just ran across this video and realized I haven’t thought of the Flintstone Flyer in years….I remember Summerville Speedway in SC and when the big black cowboy hat showed up at the racetrack, you had to beat the Flyer to have a successful night….thanks for the memories from a fellow South Carolinian….God Bless 🙏
Raced against the Flyer many years during speedweeks in Florida. Did some development work w/the Fiberglass leaf springs and monoleaf springs. Good memories, Thanks.....
Got to see him race quite a few times at Carolina Speedway. They have a memorial dedicated to him on the hill behind the stands entrance. Fairly certain he ran with my grandpa and uncles back in the 90's
My grandpa raced late models from central ohio and surrounding area throughout the 50s 60s and 70s. I never met him. But I see tons of old race tracks here. Please keep an eye and ear out for a racer from ohio named Gary Ute please. I've never seen a photo of him or his car. But I've been told about it. Orange 04 with thumper on the hood, an on the back bumper I believe road runner was there and said I'll keep beeping your a$$

@86 MonteSS - I was there with my Dad also. Every year.
Remember seeing him at a race at the old Darlington dirt track in the early 80’s.
I saw him run there in late 80’s. Made a life long impression on me I’ll never forget. That’s as fast as I’d ever seen a car go on dirt.
One of the best I have every seen in a late model.
