- ►Driveshafts have several components that will all wear over time. Some can last forever, while those in BMWs will eventually need replacing. In the E46's case, the center support bearing is usually the first piece to go, leaving you with clunks and bangs as you drive along. If left long enough, the drive shaft can break and damage the car's underside.
In this video, Gareth Foley, FCP Euro's BMW Expert, replaces a drive shaft on a BMW E46 M3.

Love that you correctly spell Giubo in your literature, and not Guibo.
You should jack the driveshaft back up to its original height before you took the transmission crossmember before torquing the driveshaft bolts

my e46 325xi was parked forever during the plandemic. got it rolling again, with a new battery. however, it makes a clunking sound when i move the shifter (automatic) from drive to reverse. is there a simple way to tell if the Giubo is the culprit? or is this a 'yeah bro, its the giubo causing that clunk!' thanks for the video. will place an order, once i know whats causing the clunk.
