These kinds of processes are really fascinating and very interesting, especially for those of us who don't have any kind of experience in this type of complex work. I would've loved to learn a little more about all these things, but I really don't have the time or the technological resources for that. A Bellini Sofa from Manhattan Home Design was delivered to my door this week and I love its tan leather upholstery, but if I ever want to upholster it in fabric, I wish I could do it all by myself. Thanks for the tutorial! *.*

What a transformation. Great work. I know this is an old video, but what's the material on the back of the sofa? So many cheap sofas have such a loose back and that drives me crazy. The back of my sofa is open and gets stretched out when people stand behind it.
Beautiful job! Do you ever watch this and think this is how all of our lives are with the repetitive type of work we do and each day goes by flip flip flip, go to the store, fix dinner, go to work different colored couch but still the same repetitive work till we’re gray-haired flip flip flip then in a chair in a nursing home. Sometimes this is how my life is in my mind in fast forward year after year but for me it’s removing hairs. And for some reason at the end of the video I just pictured someone walking towards the couch with a glass of red wine and tripping. 😀
MY FATHER WAS A UPHOLSTERER IN THE CHICAGO. AREA FOR OVER 30 YEARS. HE ALWAYS REBUILT A SOFA WHEN IT NEEDED REAPIR. HE WOULD NEVER UPHOLSTER FURNITURE UNLESS THE STRUCTURE WAS IN GOOD SHAPE. HE HATED THE NEW CHEAPLY MADE FURNITURE. I LOVED HIS WORK. MY FATHER WORKED FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF CGICAO PLANT DEPARTMENT FOR 20 YEARS. THE UNIVERSITY HAD A DEPARTMENT WHERE THEY WOULD REPAIR, AND REUPHOLSTER THE FURNITURE FROM THE ADMINISTRATION OFFICES AND BUILDINGS AROUND THE CAMPUS. HE ALSO MADE DRAPERIES. THE UPHOLSTERY DEPARTMENT IS NO LONGER THERE. THROUGH THE YEARS SINCE HE RETIRED THE BUDGET CUT INFLUENCED THE CLOSING OF THE UPHOLSTERY DEPARTMENT. THEY OF COURSE SAID THAT JUST PURCHASING NEW FURNITURE THROUGH CONTRACTS WAS MUCH MORE BUDGET FRIENDLY. IT IS SAD BECAUSE THERE WAS VERY OLD ANTIQUE FURNITURE THAT LOOKED ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED AND RECOVERED. MY FATHER HAD A GOD GIVEN TALENT. HE WOULD HAVE NEVER PUT FABRIC OVER OLD FABRIC, LIKE SOME DO. HE STRIPPED THE FURNITURE DOWN TO ITS BONES. AS A CHILD WE WOULD ARGUE OVER WHO WAS GOING TO FIND THE CHANGE THAT FELL INTO THE SOFAS NOOKS AND CRANNIES.

Thank you Leticia
What a difference. New version looks great!
Yes it does. I’m not a fan of those attached pillows. I love doing ugly furniture because they look great after reupholstery. Thanks Alice

Fishing, Golf and a little beer balances the mundane👍🏼
Yes and for me it’s upholstery haha. Travel and gardening and fixing up a hundred year old house. Never a dull moment. Thanks for the video!
Awesome. I learned a lot.

Bases are custom built for the piece
How many hour did this take… in real time?
Stripping, in siding and outsiding about 6-8hours. To cut, sew and make cushion insert about 1.5 hours per cushion
Is that fabric stain resistant?
