There are also a lot of Cold Stones in Pershing County that gives a bong noise. I found a lot of gold in Pershing County over the years that it's pretty hunted out unless you you have a backhoe. The gold out at Rye patch is pretty deep. It has been hunted for many many years
Back in the early 1960 I was a high school student in Winnemucca. A couple of my friends were four wheeling a few miles from Rye Patch and ran into a old miner mining a gold vein. He was a really nice guy he asked to come into his one room cabin where he pulled a suitcase out under his cot. When he opened it up my eyes feel out of my head the suitcase was full wire and leaf gold it was unbelievably. He gave all of us a small sample of visible gold in quartz which is still have today. Twenty years I was driving in the area and I found him again mining his gold vein. Being older I set down with him and we talked. He only mined the vein when he need some money during the winter he went to Arizona at his favorite bar. He had a drinking problem but he know how find gold. The only tools he used was a shovel pick and broom. He would locate the vein sweep off the vein to expose the gold. It worked for him as he showed me some more gold he had mined in a week. I have never told anyone where his claim was because I highly respect him
The little iron wedge is from the handle of an axe or maul, or possibly a hammer. Once you slide the handle through the axe, you'd wedge the handle so it couldn't slide back off.Cool video!
This was such a fun trip! any time you want someone to come tag along on an adventure us utah prospectors are willing to come party it up again! By the way, i took 2 half buckets of unclassified dirt home where brandon and johnny utah found that nugget and i found some incredible pieces.
Great video.....I own a claim at Rye Patch and to date no gold. I'm new to detecting so my time is coming! I do find a lot of good size crystals but gold is the goal. Keep the videos coming...thanks for the entertainment.
I was at Rye Patch placer area a few days ago, for the first time. Used a Gold Bug 2 for many hours but no gold found. Did find a few quartz crystals. I avoided areas that were posted "no metal detectors." That scene in the video where you metal-detect a wash looked very familiar, I wonder if I followed your footsteps? I'm not sure where people are finding the nuggets.
hi enjoyed your video, thinking about getting a deus xp,live in vegas and i'm only using it for nuggett hunting, would you suggest buying one or what is your feelings
Craig Campbell , the XP Deus is a very versatile machine, and especially with the new High Frequency coils, they are capable of finding gold. But if that's the only detecting you are interested in, you may want to consider other machines, like the Minelab Gold Monster 1000. Cheers and happy hunting! Thanks for watching
that's right in my price range,do you have one and do you go to rye patch often, its a drive but would love to bring my toy hauler up there for a couple of days.i have a sluice that i bring concertrates back home to wash out but thats getting old.i also live in montana and did placer work before coming here, the dectector method is easier on my body.thanks ryan for your input

Awesome story!
Iron wedge is likely a rock wedge used to crack open rock seams to bust out the gold. Found a number of similar ones in Australia
I love anything that has to do with Nevada I live here you guys are great!!
That wedge could be from one of my picks that I used out there
Would love to go out there sometime with you guys! I'm in Reno and it is well worth the drive!

We had a pretty difficult time too. Thanks for watching!
I seen a horse shoe around time 7:34/15:44. Did you get it.
I can do that with a mid 70's $9.95 radio shack detector. But I envy the location.
no you can not Little one no no no
Could leave the music out, but nice video, been there.
Should have tuned the detector for non-ferrous metals.
@Sea Bass You are out in the middle of nowhere, you don't want to take the chance of losing a small nugget or one in or under a metal box.
