Thanks Al. Yes, there are several ways to do it - I still duplicate the image, even though it can be done easier in layers - just what I'm used to I suppose. Useful technique though. :)
Thanks - I tried it out & it's quite effective. I did it slightly differently in the layers box. Still the same technique. That's a handy method to know. Thanks for sharing.
My CS5 isn't acting like yours starting with the clone tool. My clone tool color stays white your's is gray. How did you change it? Also why is my Gaussian Blue window white and yours gray? Just a few tips that you left out.
Splendid, thanks. Quick question: do you post process the image after getting rid of the gradient, or do you get rid of the gradient after processing? Or does it not matter?
Hi. When I used GXT (which I don't now) I would use it as soon as the gradient became apparent in the image, which was sort of mid-way in the processing. If you can see it, you have more control I guess :)
I ended up doing this as my last step and it did work splendidly. I had a really bad gradient that magically went away: scontent-vie.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/l/t31.0-8/10959084_10205568312463680_636296268039106150_o.jpg
ermmm when i take my pics my stars are like circules lol but when i see other images they have the sparkle twinkle spikes in them is this an effect or filter you can add ? thanks damon
Ah! Yes, it's a filter. I use star spikes pro, a photoshop plugin. However, when using a reflector those spikes appear on the brightest stars anyway :)
Thanks mate for these nice little hints and tips. They can be used by beginners and advanced alike.
Cheers
Jim
@pipesgt Cheers Jim - glad you like them. Use this technique carefully if you use it. It can take out some of your hard earned signal :)

ROXunreal Good stuff :)
Hey , thanks , it works , except the clone tool , can you tell me what key you hold down ?
Hi. The Alt key on windows, but that's only when you select the area you're going to copy with the clone tool - you don't have to keep it held down :)
