Just bought the pattern, I'm going to try this with some leather.
EDIT: I used some ballistic nylon, i messed up on the top zipper, top stitch allowance. but great video and pattern.
Leather will look really cool! You probably don’t need to add lining when working with leather. It might make the process easier. Less bulk to to sew depending on the thickness of your leather. It’s takes a few to master.
I also messed up the zipper allowance and had to trim the side panel to make it even haha. Recommend cutting the zipper panels a bit wider!!!!
@@lisaa9430 I just learned this as well, and thats good advice.
Luckily, I used some scrap canvas to practice with. Im also going to cut that top pocket panel a bit tall. Mine looked nice but did not quite cover the zipper while still meeting up with the main panel size.
I'm a newbie, so I always practice w some scrap/ugly fabric first.

Okay this may sound ridiculous, but when I am cutting out the patterns do I need to cut inside of the black borders, outside of the black borders, or does it not really matter as long as I'm consistent? Haha I know it probably sounds crazy but I'm new to this so I'm just trying to start off on the right foot!

How can you sew right over the zipper without breaking the needle on the machine?? Do you use a certain kind of zipper? Is it plastic?

why no lining on the back panel?
Sewing the side panels to the front end the back is something that is near impossible. I keep getting puckers. It is the one thing holding me back from completing these projects.
use a stiffer material and more pins or clips to hold it all in place while u sew it

What size double fold bias binder do you recommend?
Jon DeFelice we use 1inch to .25inch. So the bias tape is cut at 1inch and binds .25inch :)
