I really like piracy in 40k. One of my favorite things in a fantasy setting is when people of different races/cultures meet and then try to work together. That's very rare in 40k, but piracy is one of the few places that is allowed. I also think a series of books focusing on some of the lesser xeno species who work as pirates would be very interesting.
Honestly there isn't enough piracy and spice running that there needs to be in 40k. With the scale of how insane gangs are just in a single hive city- there need to be whole pirate nations and factions.

I would very much like to see that, especially in regards to any mercy the Emperor had for non-FTL xeno civilizations. I do love the idea of Piracy in 40k. I feel it makes the setting more alive with activity other then just the standard faction wars we see. In a galaxy that large there is bound to be piracy
And it will be and it will far more uncontrollable. Especially within Imperium. But to spectate them it will be hilarious experience. Especially when you will see a pirate fleet but one captain is a human deserter from Guard who was a private but have a skill in being a leader and admiral of the fleet, other captain is Eldar for example from Craftworld Altansar, 3rd captain even more hilarious an ork freeboter and 4th one a Tau Fire warrior being super aggressive and using chaos weapons against all who dare to attack his ships.

The city of Khai-dazaar within the Webway feels like a rough and tumble safe haven where pirates, adventurers, and miscreants would congregate. One terrifying thing about Freebootas is their ability to build their own ships and salvage, repair and upgrade any derelict vessels they find. Singing a ship takes a long time. Yes Eldars have potential to be an ally or even declared sanctioned xenos by emperor Guilliman. It pays lip service to the values of empiricism and rationalism, but then places a sort of spiritual significance towards "baseline" humanity, and how we deserve to be the rulers of the galaxy more than any other sentient species because.... others failed to be?
Isn't there a Necron Overlord who was also a pirate king? Thaszar, I think. I often wonder how that works as the Necrons don't really need anything from any other faction. What would they get from raiding?
There's probably a bunch of minors he knows races that do this considering the fact that they have to be cautious so piracy seems like a good idea for minor xenos races who's going to attack some random zenos race that just raised a trade route very occasionally most likely tyranids

private aircraft? the UN is ready for the zeppelin comeback
It's rare, but it does sometimes happen that private aircrafts are used by rebel groups in international water. Such as when the Hutis ceased a ship, they boarded on it with an helicopter. They also use drones to damage other ship passing by the Red Sea. However, it's rare, because most of current pirates are very poor African using small fishing boats to attack merchant and oil ships in the Gulf of Guinea and around Somalia, out of desperation. The Hutis have some helicopters and drones only because Iran gives it to them, using them de facto as non official corsairs.
@@HalduBouyaNono2 and now they getting rekt by Americans for their piracy because the Red sea is too crucial trade territory to let it at the mercy of terrorists.

The most successful pirate by any metric is Zheng Yi Sao, Roberts was only the greatest in his area.
