NER Turntable arrives at Kirkby Stephen East 12/12/2016

In fading daylight of a December afternoon, the newly-recovered 50' turntable from Darlington station arrived at Kirkby Stephen East station and was successfully unloaded onto timbers in a space which had been specially cleared in the car park during the summer.
The original loco shed at Kirkby Stephen East had a 50' North Eastern Railway turntable, and it is our intention to find a suitable area of ground into which a well can be dug so that our newest arrival can be installed and recreate another historic feature of the railway scene at Kirkby Stephen East
After many months of meticulous planning required to ensure safety given the proximity of the turntable to the main lines and their catenary supplying power to passing trains, a team successfully completed extraction of the turntable deck and its supporting centre pin, as seen in the photos here.

looks like in future you will have quite a impressive yard. hopefull it does get used seem a few lines buy turntables and then sell them a few years later as they cant do what they planned
