Such a great vid, loved it, new sub. Got some pike eel and catfish the other day with my young son. I am 65 and have never caught a bullie but will try hopefully this week if weather permits
Stoked you enjoyed mate, thank you. Best of luck with the bullies! Warmer water/weather is the best for them. Should still be a few around up there and willing to bite, but it could be a bit tough. Let me know how you go
I dont go that far up the river to fish but it looks good for my son and I> Under the story and Indooroopilly bridges we have got bull sharks and as I am sure you would know, they get pretty big in the river. Im a minimalist so seeing you swagging it makes me want to get back out. I dont think you can beat a swag for Australian conditions. Ive been in Canberra in the middle of winter in one and was warm as. I got mine always packed with my sleeping bag and pillow rolled up with it. Love that sort of boating and camping. Love ya style.
It’s awesome to chase the bullies in the upper reaches , especially the smaller ones on light gear. I agree, I’ve never had a bad sleep in my swag 😂 Thanks for watching mate, I appreciate your comment
Thanks Rod, I’ve been enjoying the process filming and keeping the uploads regular as long as they are enjoyable to watch! Heaps of bass up there & bullies do love them ! Few kayakers up there the same day I was & they were smashing the bass…
Just found your vid mate and really enjoyed it, I’m fairly sure that I was up there chasing bass on your second day. I was in the outback explorer but I only seen the bullies for a second as they bit my bass in half at the boat, I hope you do more of these.
I stayed at this same spot, felt a bit awkward the next morning, but was awesome night, glad to see we're not the only ones. Funny enough it was the weekend after you,
@@danyoungy the looks some people were giving when we were cooking up some breakfast on low tide lol, wasn't sure if we were meant to be there or not, but I don't see a problem if we continue to take away our rubbish with us.
Loved the video. Absolutely amazing stuff. That bull shark was massive btw- and handled with so much care. Also, the bait for the shark was perfect- pure gold. The sharks near the coast get really massive though- some report seeing a 19+ m whale shark!
Appreciate you tuning in Purva, super glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I may have got a bit excited when I hooked the shark and said it was BIG 🤣 it’s really a baby but a decent size for the upper reaches of the river!
That side is the new replacement poles that seem to really loop out a bit more then the originals / so it’s tougher to connect the swag to it. I just left it this day as it can be quite a stretch to connect…
I caught the sharks between kookaburra park & collages crossing. Need quality sized live bait and you'll be in with a shot anywhere in the river, especially this time of year!
Great video mate. Love seeing a sick solo mission. This might be a silly question, but have you ever tried eating a Bully? I'd love to see a catch-n-cook 'flake edition' 😂
@@TankyFisherman Don’t need heavy gear just a heavy leader to prevent the the shark tail whipping ya line and snapping it & about a metre of wire trace. Good luck!
No wonder people no longer swim in our river, as they did many decades ago...I'm not a fan of catch and release for *dangerous* sharks, but to each their own. Cheers
I think banded grunter is a no release fish, and sometimes the people that live near by call the cops if you camp there some times (that was years ago tho)
@@danyoungy Same rule as they have with the Tilapia. They are becoming a problem in this country but wont give us permission to start to fish them out. They are not a bad eating fish so numbers would be at very least kept down. The problem they say with that is because they are mouth brooders, you may take one away from that area and endanger releasing the young elsewhere but with education that could also be managed. I find fishermen usually try to do the right thing so lets open the gates.

Glad to hear Steve, thanks for tuning in!

Pumping out the vids mate! Good to see the bass smashing poppers, they will be bully bait soon!

Whoops just realised outback explorer is a tinny , I think I might of seen your boat on my way back to the ramp!

Hey mate
Great video

Hey legend great video just wondering what the set up was for the bulls is
thanks man. 4-7kg rod pretty sure not sure what type. Reel is a daiwa bg 4000 (20lb ish braid, onto 80-100lb mono trace onto 100lb nylon coated wire )
Great video enjoyed it..Just wondering what brand was that reel it seemed to have a smooth powerful drag system.
Cheers mate, it’s a Daiwa BG 4000, pretty smooth reel, going as good as the day I bought it 👍
Great video mate, what make and model boat is that? Great set up
Stessco Catcher 4.2m , weapon of a tinny! Thanks for tuning in mate
Nice vid Dan! Have you ever tried for mudcrabs in the upper reaches? Apparently there are some monsters.
Thanks mate & nah I haven’t given it a crack ay. I’m not a massive fan of eating mud crab myself 🤣
I noticed with your swag setup you didn’t seem to attach one of your swag ends to the swag pole? Just curious why?
That side is the new replacement poles that seem to really loop out a bit more then the originals / so it’s tougher to connect the swag to it. I just left it this day as it can be quite a stretch to connect…
I love that side of the bris. the section your in is it before or after kookaburra Park? Got a meter 45 last weekend landbased was a wicked fight
More towards colleges crossing man. Nice work on the 1.4, that’s a good one!
How far up was this? Used to live in Karana Downs and go to Colleges Crossing, never had anything but catfish and the odd mullet.

@@danyoungy 👍thanks, plenty of poddy mullet at Colleges.
where abouts in the Brisbane river and where did you set up camp would like to know :D
Karana downs
Good one bloke,👍👍👍😭, I always reckoned bony bream were the best bait
One of the best baits for sure !
Just found you videos mate that is awesome but if you don’t mind me asking what boat ramp is that
Kookaburra park 👍 appreciate you tuning in mate!
@@danyoungy thanks mate I was there on the weekend and got nothing but catfish hsha

Hey dan, i love your vids so far, what rod did you use for the bullsharks?
Glad you are enjoying! 3-7kg daiwa Aid I think it’s called. Matched with a daiwa 4000 bg

Nice spot mate how far up the river are you?
Launched at kookaburra park , the spot isn’t far upstream. About 1km
Hey mate can I ask what boatramp u leave from. I'm from redlands and grew up in raby bay from where u usually leave. But wanna try for the sharks.
Kookaburra Park Karana Downs , good luck

@@daryl8462 ...and dangerous for as long.
Hey Dan how far up the river do you go
Launch around kookaburra park and I go up around Johnson rock if ya know where that is. Not to far from colleges crossing!
@ yer ok thanks mate I often chase little bull sharks up near colleges crossing
how is fishing in May? water temp pretty cold?
Starting to cool down yeah, still can get the odd shark though
those sprouts would have kept you warm in the swag
🤣🤣
Your more organised than Burke & Wills old son
Is that fernvale?
Karana downs mate . I don’t think there’s any up around fernvale, but ya never know!
Didn't think you could cast net in fresh water?
Still tidal where I am so all good 👍

They are good eating especially the smaller ones
You don’t need to set the hook with circle hooks man. Just tighten the drag and let the shark set it himself.
Those Bull Sharks have probably eaten everything in the river.
Haha they’re definitely in plague
fuckin gun content brus, where was the spot you camped?
Cheers mate! Spot was upstream from kooka park. Somewhere between colleges and kooka.
This looks like freshwater to me. It’s illegal to use a cast net in freshwater in QLD
Tidal water mate. 100% legal
