- Hello all, welcome to part 2 of our family road trip that we did in our Tesla Model 3 SR+, where we did over 1000 miles travelling from North Manchester to France for a week away. Part 1 of this trip is already live on our channel, so if you haven't seen that make sure you watch it first 😀😀
In this part we continue after arriving in Calais, using chargers on route.

Hi just a couple of questions, does the car drive down the middle of the lines or over to the right/left as you are driving on the right. Did you change to kph yourself or automatically when you crossed the channel, are the WH/M is not wh/km, I stop at that service station every time as they have a big lake behind and loads of ducks to feed and walk the dogs, we stop at Rouen aswell when travelling to the south,
The car seemed to know where to drive in the road itself. Its clever 😁
You have to go into the driving settings and change once u get over there to km, but that's easy to do. Ye the stops are great. There services are miles better than ours, rouen seems a popular stop for alot of drivers. Can use the hotel amenities too while there. ⚡🔌

Thank You so much for sharing the video.I've been travelling to France by road for 30 years or so and wanted to see what you did about charging in a T M3 other than superchargers.It was interesting to know about the supermarket charging and how you managed with the STD R Plus which is the one i'm planning on buying at some point soon.Your very brave and seemed not to worry about range at all.Brilliant.

Really hope to do this in our Model 3 this summer! Great video folks. Nice to have that overview of how wh/mile works too - I’m still wrapping my head around that part of being an EV owner!

Thanks for sharing! I don't remember seeing it on the video, maybe I missed it, but did you charge your Tesla at the airbnb? Like using the standard 3 pin (with EU convertor)? Or did you just rely on public chargers?
Hi. We only charged up once before going home, there was a local charger at supermarket that was free so we used that twice. Other than that we was OK 👍
such a great series of films documenting your French trip. I'm about to order Model 3 LR. My wife has massive range anxiety with my current BMW 5 series diesel but hopefully her fears of moving to EV have been reduced after seeing this.

We are hoping to travel to southern Spain early in the new year (covid rules permitting), our charging stops are the same as the ones that you used, so it was very interesting to learn from your experience and how easy and fuss free it was to charge.
Can I ask how long it took for your journey from the tunnel in France to the house including the charging stops, as Its difficult for me to guage how far we can travel in 6 hours for me to pre plan an overnight stop.
Interesting that the chargers were available and free to use in Lidl. Are these free chargers only at Lidl or did you see/use any elsewhere.
Also interesting to hear that the trip was even easier than an Ice car.

Aw thanks will be good. Think it took us about 3 half hours ish to go from calais to where we stopped last at Rouen. And our house wasn't far from Rouen.
We only found them chargers at Lidl. The local town had a charger, but could t work it out but was a payable one.

Did you end up using the charge map card? Just ordered a model 3, off to France in august for a similar trip
Hi. No we didn't end up using it actually. We just used the super chargers, lidl was free and then small charging at the property.
It's handy to have though. Still have it, might be doing the same trip again this October 😁⚡️🔌
@@EvClaireScott yeh will definitely get one, nearest supercharger is a hour from where we are going so might make things easier. Only getting the standard model not the long range

One question : premium conectivity for Tesla means you have internet on the main tablet , no matter the country ? It’s like an unlimited roaming which costs 10$/month ?
Yes. But we didn't need it. Can use hotspot on our phones. The only thing missing was traffic but was all good.
@@EvClaireScott Yes, indeed, but i think if you already pay for this service why not use it , right ? Roaming internet it s not that cheap always .

@@EvClaireScott Not meant as a criticism. You could argue that you were on the road to Rouen (ruin). Keep it up with the videos. Don't own a Tesla as yet. Only have a lowly MG5 but its a good way of dipping your toes in the EV world without the financial commitment.
Hopefully my next car will be a Tesla. Definitely sticking with electric.

It will be out go pro camera. It's good for videoing the road and some footage.

@Russ Hirst ahhh no it will be his professional Tom Tom. He wanted to use it as well as the cars sat nav. Sorry I don't think of that. Its a professional sat nav Pro version. So it's very good for traffic.
As French electricity is 3/4s Nuclear, your Tesla is nuclear powered :)
At least not coal powered hey. From what we saw France has alot of renewable. Lots of wind turbines good to see. And here in the UK France give us alot of there spare daily.
