    the energy of this video is SO different to more recent ones and you can tell how much more comfortable E&K have been getting with just being on camera and being themselves without a completely defined script

    You guys are killing it! I love your style, and working together on projects seems so much more fun than someone by their self.
    Quick question--are you using the same mic for your voiceovers as you are for your talking head shots? Sometimes it seems like the audio in the talking-head shots is a little more echo-y, but it could just be me!
    Keep inspiring!

    • @EvanAndKatelyn
      @EvanAndKatelyn 7 років тому +2

      Thanks Rick!! Yeah, we are super thankful to have someone to share this all with, makes it easier and fun ^_^
      Nope, nice catch! And thanks for pointing it out too. When we are out filming we use a cheaper shotgun mic (we should maybe upgrade to a rode sometime) but at our desk we have a nicer mic plugged into our computer. The best upgrade we did though was a little desktop portable sound isolation thing that we mounted our mic in which really cleaned up our sound. I've updated the description with links to all of these if you're interested (look under filming gear).

    What did you use to create your paper templates? The links for the letters you provided are great but I’m curious about making different sizes.

      +Tim Fevens we used illustrator to scale the letters but I think you can also mess with your printer settings to print them at large scales and tile it

    Hi! I love your marquee letters and I’m going to attempt to make them for my wedding! Do you have a template for the “&” symbol by chance?

      We do! We gave all the letters and an ampersand in our plans here: www.etsy.com/listing/593959893/marquee-letter-digital-plans?ref=shop_home_active_4 Good luck on the project!

    I've watched this video before. My son is in drama this year and they are doing Wizard of Oz. I was asked to do some large lighted letters for it and I immediately thought of you guys. My letters will be about 7' tall and almost 4' wide. I'm wondering if these globe lights will work. Curious if you have any suggestions. I also love the link to your original tutorial. That was fun to check out.

      Wow, big letters! Yes these lights should still work just fine, you'll just need more sets (we used 2) but you can chain them together. They don't get too hot which is nice. Good luck!

    What would you say the hardest letter to make would be? I bet a G or a Q would be difficult, especially trying to get them to stand up. It would be a fun challenge!

    • @EvanAndKatelyn
      @EvanAndKatelyn 7 років тому

      Yeah there are definitely easy letters and hard letters. We added flats to the bottom of the G and Q so... not too bad (besides lots of bends) but you would need to add bracers or supports to letters like P or F to get them to stand up so I think those would be harder

    Can you tell me how you fixed the lights in so they don't fall out etc? Did you glue them in or something?

    • @EvanAndKatelyn
      @EvanAndKatelyn 5 років тому

      we didn't do anything to fix them, just drilled the holes in a size that would hold them relatively snugly.

    Hi! We made our own Marquee letters for our wedding and are planning on standing them up outside. How did you make sure they didn't fall? Did you use a stand to support them at all?

    I'm wondering why you nailed the letters in the middle of the metal. Wouldn't it be easier to do it on one side, or cut the metal shorter on the back?
