the energy of this video is SO different to more recent ones and you can tell how much more comfortable E&K have been getting with just being on camera and being themselves without a completely defined script
And here is me watching everything from "the start" (first video on chanel) xD
I love your personalities together! I watched a few of your videos, did some creeping on your blog, and then over to your Etsy within the last 20 minutes and I am feeling inspired! I also have to add that I've been smiling throughout your content and that's what make you and your work memorable. Looking forward to seeing new videos/ posts and thank you so much for sharing!
+ChristineMyLinh thank you so much for this, it really made our morning so we are smiling too! We checked out your videos as well and love your art ❤🖌
Good...One thing that I noticed from the comments is that you ignore the inappropriate comments...thumbs up for that, it makes the people to realise about themselves.
My wife and I watched your video and took the plunge making these marquee letters for our daughter and future son in law for their wedding coming up!!! They turned out amazing - thank you!!!!
If you showed me a picture of past E&K compared to now I genuinly couldnt tell they were the same people... they've grown so much together. That's really sweet
I absolutely love your channel I binged watched all your videos in one day. This is by far one of my favorite UA-cam channels you guys are exactly how I want to be when I grow up! I am making the LOVE version of this project for my girlfriend. Thank you so much for the great content keep it up!
Yayy, thanks so much! Glad you found us 🙂 Good luck on the project and let us know if you hit any snags we can help out with 👍 Working on more now!
It feels soooo different, here they sound kinda robotic and really following a script
Now they feel like themselves wooow
At first I was watching this thinking "Evan's beard seems to have grown back really fast." Then I realised this was 2 years ago...
Your initials 'E & K' spell 'EK', pronounced 'ache' which is the Hindi word for 'One'.
+The_Howler aww we love that! So true for us. Maybe we can incorporate that into a video one day :)
Katelyns smile is so beautiful
Love this and seeing how far you guys have come with your channels. ❤️
I really love this style of lettering/lights. Good job
Thank you!! We like that they're a more modern, sans serif font and they feel so hefty and sturdy with the wood and metal!
Cutest couple ever! Your videos bring me soooooooooo much joy!
Awesome ideas! Thank you so much!
These things always look so trick, but you made it look simple. Thanks.
+whitedoggarage thank you! They're definitely more simple than they look 😁
You guys are the coolest couple ever!!!!
I love this, doing this for my sister's wedding
Cool idea. I could see a lot people wanting these. I do very similar but with Christmase Tree lawn decorations.
Amazing video, the shots at the end were adorable!
+Jay Patel thank you! Haha we had way too much fun bringing the letters to a park down the street to get those shots :D
Great video! You made it look easy. I loved that wide time lapse you did at the end. It looked so cool.
+Bruce A. Ulrich thank you! It really was pretty easy. Especially this time around. The guides and the nail gun made things much faster. And thanks about the timelapse! Had a lot of fun driving to a park nearby to do that
Great build & loving your videos!!! So refreshing!!! Keep up the good work!!! 👍🤙👊✌
+Anton Messina thank you! Glad you like them! Working on filming our next video as we speak 😊
I am definitely going to make these on a smaller scale ^^ would be a cute wall decoration
Awesome channel, guys! Subscribed!
Thanks robertjkeller!! Welcome to the club :) excited to release our next video and share it with you
This is amazing stuff! Just watched all your videos and you guys are super duper creative! Keep up the good work :)
+Nikita Bhatt aww thanks so much! Really appreciate the kind words, and glad you like our videos! 😄😄
You guys are so cute, I never do any DIY projects but I looove watching people doing them (I'm lazy af I know haha) I'm definitely subscribing so I don't miss any creative projects :) x
+Shiza Nadeem thank you! Haha well we are happy to have you around even if don't tackle the projects 😋 Thanks so much for subbing!
That was such a cute build! The word 'EK' is also an Afrikaans word meaning 'I' or 'Me'.
That photo from your wedding is really cute. Katelyn's dress is amazing. Does Evan have glow stick bracelets on? If so that's awesome. I've watched this video multiple times but I've only just noticed that lol
Iconic
Could you show the wiring for the lights from the backside please?
Those letters look amazing! And beautiful sunset shots at the end :)
Thanks!! We kinda want to just travel around with them now and get time-lapses haha :P We got a car power inverter and went to a park at sunset to get the one in this video
Ah, I was almost hoping that lake was in your backyard, wouldn't that be nice... But getting gorgeous time-lapse shots is as good a reason as any to take a sunset trip to the park ;)
Congrats on getting married and another great video!!!
Thank you!! We actually got married four years ago but we'll always take a congrats 😋
Three years later you have that sign in the back of all your videos an are at 1 million subscribers.
evan, don't be mad, this is a compliment. Tell katelyn she's beautiful! you two are so cute :)
you're a lucky guy
Still watching this ❤️
Very nice project! The video is very well made! I like it, very enjoyable! 👍
Watching this while thinking about my cousin, who is getting married in a couple of weeks. If I had more time, might try to do this for him/reception.
I started this project for my wedding and everything is going as planned. Your tutorial and tips help out tremendously. For my letters, I'm making MR & MRS. Could you tell me what font was used so I can make my own template of the "& " symbol? Thanks!
Very cool :D love your enthusiasm too! Makes me happy
I'm going to have a go at making stuff in summer when I've finished my degree :D
That's so awesome!! You totally should. I wish we could do even more, we have so many ideas. We love this community of makers that keeps on growing :)
EvanAndKatelyn Yeah I've really been enjoying watching quite a few people over the last few months. Been getting into it! Especially your mates at the modern maker podcast, so I'm looking forward to your interview with them ;)
great video guys
Thanks Patrick! I actually ran across your awesome dust cyclone while doing research for my own. I'm designing it for 3d printing and plan to have it be open source. I really like how you can see inside yours
guys these rock, we have recently relesed a wedding range and my wife has been nagging me to do so light up letters, we would probably laser cut templates and then router them out, nice one
+The Island Workshop thank you!!! Laser cutting these would be great, especially if you're making a large set! Light up letters make everything look pretty so I think they'd be a nice addition :)
cutest couple ever
A little late to see this, but great project. I kinda want to make these to hang over my couch, but how you would you recommend hanging them on the wall?
This was posted on my birthday when I was 7
Hi guys
How are you?
Great job and very very nice.
Congratulations.
Hi Allan! We are well, how are you? Appreciate you stopping by! Have a good one :)
Good work guys! Next project will be letter :) But for now i made only lighting arrow. Peace&Make
You guys are amazing! This is only the second vid of yours I've seen and I'm hooked! What project on your channel might you recommend for a beginner like myself? Thanks so much, keep making awesome videos!
Awww thanks Katie!! I think the most beginner projects we have are the DIY concrete letters, the IKEA Malm dresser hack, or our abstract art tutorial (you don't have to be an artist). Probably next step up from that would be the DIY coat rack, our scratching post, or this one the marquee letters! Hope this helps give you a starting point 😄 If you try a project and get stuck, just leave a comment and we will help out! 👍❤
You guys are killing it! I love your style, and working together on projects seems so much more fun than someone by their self.
Quick question--are you using the same mic for your voiceovers as you are for your talking head shots? Sometimes it seems like the audio in the talking-head shots is a little more echo-y, but it could just be me!
Keep inspiring!
Thanks Rick!! Yeah, we are super thankful to have someone to share this all with, makes it easier and fun ^_^
Nope, nice catch! And thanks for pointing it out too. When we are out filming we use a cheaper shotgun mic (we should maybe upgrade to a rode sometime) but at our desk we have a nicer mic plugged into our computer. The best upgrade we did though was a little desktop portable sound isolation thing that we mounted our mic in which really cleaned up our sound. I've updated the description with links to all of these if you're interested (look under filming gear).
we need to get that 11k sub count to 1.1mil
Well, predictions says they'll reach 1M near the end of the yeah hahaha
Hi Evan & Katelyn, I was following the link to the globe string lights and it lead me to a Deneve Ocean Wave Night Light Projector. Just thought Id let you know the hyperlink is incorrect. Thanks for have such great videos!
Neat trick with the blocks and rubber bands! Do you two own a forstner bit set? I have a Freud serrated edge bit set and its smooth as butter cutting holes instead of a spade bit. Definitely worth the cost difference to cut down on sanding off the tear out.
Thanks!! Yeah we actually own two, lol :P (large and small diameter set). We wanted a 13/16" hole to snugly fit our lights and though I have a 7/8" forstner bit, it just had a liiiitle too much wiggle
I read it out as Ek that means one in "hindi" Indian language
This is so beautiful ❤️
Love all of your videos SO much! You guys are amazing!
Any chance you have a file for "&"? I'm trying to make A & R for my wedding.
Literally just saw your “love” pic on Pinterest and looked up “marquee letters diy” and clicked on this vid without realizing I was about to see the same pic in the first few seconds lol!!!
👌👏❤
If you remember me ya know from the 5k comment congratulations on 6k still deserve more though
How did you guys make the letter template. Do you have any resources that will show how to make this on photo shop or Google drawings?
Could you guys do another DIY Marquee Letters, but with the symbol "&"?
Where do you buy the 3/4" plastic globes, I have a string of lights. Thanks
How many letters can you fit on one of the 2ft by 4ft plywood boards?!
ya should make a new set but instead of the ole style bulbs use remote LED strips & of course put the cord thru the back , that would look wicked
What type of lights dif you use?
Where tf did u get the boots u are wearing at the end, Katelyn? They're gorgeous!
Are these weatherproof? or can I make them weatherproof for outdoor use? :D
This is awesome! Just what I was looking for! I want to make Mr & Mrs marquee letters for the sweetheart table at my wedding!
How much would you say you spent per letter?
Thank you!! If I remember correctly it was under $100 for the set of 4
Is it possible to get the letters to 3ft with the template?
Great video! One question, what did you do with the extra lights on each string? Did you just leave those sockets empty?
Probably leave them hidden in the back and empty where you won’t see them.
I loved this! Do you have any suggestions on how to take away the sharp edges of the metal? I was thinking running a hot glue gun but I’m not sure if that would work ?
great video, great channel, a very good start keep the same way, subscribed
+Nicolas Debienne thank you! We plan to keep on making more, thanks for the sub!
What did you use to create your paper templates? The links for the letters you provided are great but I’m curious about making different sizes.
+Tim Fevens we used illustrator to scale the letters but I think you can also mess with your printer settings to print them at large scales and tile it
Where are the links for the letter templates?
Hi! I love your marquee letters and I’m going to attempt to make them for my wedding! Do you have a template for the “&” symbol by chance?
We do! We gave all the letters and an ampersand in our plans here: www.etsy.com/listing/593959893/marquee-letter-digital-plans?ref=shop_home_active_4 Good luck on the project!
I've watched this video before. My son is in drama this year and they are doing Wizard of Oz. I was asked to do some large lighted letters for it and I immediately thought of you guys. My letters will be about 7' tall and almost 4' wide. I'm wondering if these globe lights will work. Curious if you have any suggestions. I also love the link to your original tutorial. That was fun to check out.
Wow, big letters! Yes these lights should still work just fine, you'll just need more sets (we used 2) but you can chain them together. They don't get too hot which is nice. Good luck!
Where can I find the template?
What would you say the hardest letter to make would be? I bet a G or a Q would be difficult, especially trying to get them to stand up. It would be a fun challenge!
Yeah there are definitely easy letters and hard letters. We added flats to the bottom of the G and Q so... not too bad (besides lots of bends) but you would need to add bracers or supports to letters like P or F to get them to stand up so I think those would be harder
Can you tell me how you fixed the lights in so they don't fall out etc? Did you glue them in or something?
we didn't do anything to fix them, just drilled the holes in a size that would hold them relatively snugly.
What was the measurement of the wood you guys cut?
Oh man listen to that audio, they have come a long ways.
Hi! We made our own Marquee letters for our wedding and are planning on standing them up outside. How did you make sure they didn't fall? Did you use a stand to support them at all?
I'm wondering why you nailed the letters in the middle of the metal. Wouldn't it be easier to do it on one side, or cut the metal shorter on the back?
