There are a lot of houses in Bulgaria standing empty in the rural villages - what the government has done there is offer them for sale at very cheap prices - the result has been phenomenal, people from Europe where property is unaffordable have come over and bought these houses , many have moved to Bulgaria 😮 and many have bought houses which they renovated and resold - prices there have now risen sharply and it is no longer so easy to get a bargain house - this is how capitalism works and as a South African living abroad and keen to buy a house in SA l think it might be a goodidea to follow this example and sell these houses, and revitalise the villages - l find the land.
In SA cheap but building costs high, second hand houses too expensive and mortgage bond bank rates far too high - something to think about!
