I agree, I actually like the paint job on the 1st release better. The shadowing is missing on the skin and face that added emotion to the character. But over all still a fantastic figure, can't deny those accessories and detail. Can't wait for the next release of God of War.
@@WhiteKnightPictures drop a little bit of shading of dirt and pink underneath the white. It's fine, it's just missing on some parts like in the face to make the wrinkles pop out like the first release came out. Wouldn't you agree? :D
I find the pink better actually, say that it’s what people complained about but I see it as the first figure is the beginning of the journey. This figure with Memir shows that it’s been quite a bit of time since Kratos and Atreus left.
I think the real reason why he’s pink is because he’s activated his spartan rage mode, hence why we get a screaming headsculpt and some flame effects. In the game, when you activate it, it changes his skin color a bit as well as the atmosphere around him. So, I think it’s actually accurate.
Or like the creators said that kratos ash marks are fading a little and skin has a pinkish colour and his skin has a kind of pinkish colour in the game

Seems like a good set, although I'm disappointed in the paint when you compare to the single pack figure. I don't really need boy but I NEED a Mimir so it looks like I'll probably be going with this set. Great review so thanks!
It is visually a stunning set. I have 3 Kratos. Two that look like this version but non-pink. Those are without the son. Then I have the one with the two lions that can be attached to his arms. All 3 look great. I am a little hesitant about this set but it does look great. Thanks for a super review.
The reason why he's pinkish is because its his rage of sparta color. It even comes with 2 accesories for his fists which is what he uses during rage of sparta. So thats why!
The skin tone is better on the first release, but DANG is everything else [bar your stuck joints] better in this 2 pack for the Dad Of Boy. Maybe you can figure out a way to pop-off the torsos and swap Chalky Dad's upper body onto Pinky Dad's lower body?
I think that the reason why they did the 2 tone strip is to make the actual strip pop out a little bit more you know make it a little bit more noticeable thats why they did that
I don't get why NECA hasn't fixed or changed their hip system. Every single figure I have from them are plagued with loose hips. Anthony, what would you advise NECA regarding the hip joints?
I haven’t picked up this set yet, but I did get the original release of Kratos and his feet do swivel. The joint is tight but some hot water will loosen them a bit. Great review as always!
So I've purchased Kratos recently and there are some pictures of the figure on Big bad toys from where I bought it and it looks so realistic and well painted as it was from Hot Toys. Shame we didn't get a figure like that.
