I began working in recreation in 2000. My career took me across the country. It was the career I didn’t know I needed and has defined my life’s work with young people.
Anyway…
I have laughed so much with this podcast as it describes so many of my own experiences. Thank you for the memories. Our laughs are as much as any classroom ❤

Slow and steady I go. I'll get here, but right now I'm on Ep. 22 and the earthquake. I do have a couple of questions. How do you remember all this stuff? Do you keep a journal, etc? Did you ever take dance and music classes or are you self taught or a combination of both? Have you ever thought of writing a book? Thanks.
I think since I moved so much growing up I internally always made checkpoints of whatever era I was living through. That happened by remembering songs that were out, people I met, and what was happening in the world during that time.
The episodes centered around elementary, middle school, and college were easy to remember because I looked at everything by grade level and milestones within those respective years.
This current season with the kids was recalled because of the TONS of pictures I took at the center through the years. The center has a Facebook page with a visual history of a lot of major events.
@@CalvinMichaels Thanks, my old age doesn't help, even so I know I couldn't remember so much of my life even when I was young. You have a very active mind and it shows in your manner of speaking I think; fast and you rarely stop talking or take lengthy pauses yet you link pretty much everything together well. Maybe that's part of why I find you so intriguing, we're so different and I always have a soft spot for artistic, creative people. Me, I hate pictures of myself and I ry to avoid them . I'm very much looking forward to more episodes.

Yea looking back there was a lot of shenanigans. At this point in time I was about 24. It was my first career job. I just thought that’s how things were supposed to go. There will definitely be a shift as the episodes continue through time.
My first job, back in the 1980's, was at a rec center, working with kids. I'm at work now, laughing my @ss off! The PTSD wore off years ago.😂😂😂
I’m paying $500/week for camp this summer with one camp costing $900. The YMCA with swim was $299/week.
And what was crazy was that there were parents ready to fight me over $25 a week.
