Monique's Cheap OCD is making life difficult for her boyfriend Joseph. Tired of sleeping on inflatable mattresses, he asks her to buy a real one.
I actually feel so sorry for him. Clearly the only reason he is staying with her is and I quote “she’s my first and only girlfriend”. He’s obviously not happy and wants to leave but is worried he’s not going to find someone else. Dude, just leave her!
Well that’s his fault lol no need to feel sorry for someone who’s deliberately putting themselves in a tough situation, given the circumstances(I.E ,her obsession).

The really messed up part about these people is the fact that they’re walking into small businesses most of the time to haggle prices.. normally you’d support smaller businesses but they just take advantage. Really disturbing.

She went to a quilt shop. As a person who sews this astonished me. She could have gotten a coupon from Joann’s and bought markdown fabric for SO much less. Or gone to the thrift and done it right
I swere these people get a high of saving on the most reduculis way or something. She probably could have found a free mattress off of Facebook marketplace to but decided to argue with some guy over a disgusting one.

You can get bed bugs from warehouses that send new stuff. Key is to check everything first before bringing it in your home. Than once in your home cover mattresses and pillows in asthma/bed bug covers. I never have bought used mattresses but I’ve bought second hand furniture many times. But my grandparents never in their lives bought new anything they were hoarders. And they never got bedbugs I believe because they did fumigate inside and outside grounds 3-4 times a year. But even thrifting we can bring bugs home just need to check everything first and wash first.

This lady needs to learn about second hand shops or thrift stores, even buy, swap sell events. She could have gotten a decent mattress and sheets from one on the cheap. Why go to all the trouble of buying a car and rarely using it? You're just spending money on registration for no reason and letting the battery go flat. She's just way too selfish. Man needs to run while he still can. She's just trying to control everything and get her own way. Please dude, date someone normal for your own sanity. No point in saving money if you're going to live miserably. Cheaper does not mean better, especially when it comes to accommodation.
Also, she's moved so many times. Moving is so expensive, even when you do it yourself. She's better off just staying in one place, even if the rent isn't the absolute lowest in the area.

I’ve moved three times in the past three years (with a van/SUV type vehicle) and there is NO WAY she can fit all of those belongings into 1 vehicle, let alone in 15 minutes.

Its all about planning. Saving $85 a month could buy her a $1000 bed at the end of one year. A bed she can use for the next 10 years. Be cheap if you want to but plan and live well for goodness sake.

I think it's wise to cut costs when you can, without having to compromise comfort and living. The main thing is treating other people with courtesy and respect when it comes to purchasing items. Especially from small business owners, they don't owe you more than what you pay for.
There's something VERY psychological going on here. Even if I loved someone, I couldn't live like that. She need therapy. I thought it was very telling when she said 'I can have my car packed up in 15 minutes.' This seems like a deep trauma masquerading as quirkiness.

I met this woman on her way to JFK on the subway. She asked me for directions and we started talking. I paid for something to eat and some coffee for the both of us once we got to JFK. I remember that we had some free time to spend and I told her I was going to have some coffee. She initially said no as she did not want to pay for it, so I said that I was going to pay and she therefore stayed at the coffee place at the airport with me. I did feel a bit sorry for her but I honestly do not care about money when it comes to food. I remember she told me she wanted to be an actress and was doing auditions... I would have never thought of seeing her again on this channel. I am not sure she is acting or she is really cheap or both. Such a bad way of leaving memories of yourself in this way. I think at the core of some of these extreme cases is people just not letting themselves be happy as I think it comes down to self worth so it stems from a sense of low self-esteem. Who wants to be with somebody that doesn't think they're worthy of Love or happiness. It gets old after a while so I don't blame this guy. A lot of these are extreme cases of forms of OCD
There is a difference between being sensible with money and being unreasonable. If her boyfriend was that upset with her over the sleeping arrangements that tells me she is probably hard to deal with in other ways also. She works. The point of working in part is so you can afford to buy nice stuff for yourself. Life is too short to be this hard to live with and if she is that stubborn be single and don't drag your partner down with you. She obviously was effecting her boyfriend with her lack of willingness to spend any money.

It's honestly pretty rude to go into someone's shop and try to bargain on something way lower then it even costs to order it. I get wanting to pay wholesale (so the shop owner wouldn't make any money) but to go under that is so rude! I would turn her away in the future if she ever came back.

I love rummage and garage sales. I NEVER ask for a deal, if they offer a discount I will happily take it. If I’m interested in more than one thing or the whole lot I will sometimes ask “how much for the whole lot” and the price will usually come down.
