I don't know much about Collei, but Yao Yao is a great support and can have the "Deepwood" 4 piece artifact, boosting tighnaris dmg more while he has something like 2 piece deepwood and either 18 % Atk or 80 Elemental mastery 2 piece effect. Traveler has some great dendro applying, he can be in a different team for reaction purposes :)

it depends, I personally recommend yaoyao>tighnari>dmc>collei@@buttercup86900 for tighnari, generally speaking, try to use 2 dendro. So tighnari can hold wanderer troupe, while the other dendro can use deepwood.
Honestly Xiangling is one of the characters that it is pretty decent to get to level 90, she finds use in burgeon comps (including as the nahida variant of national, which does create dendro cores) as well as a significant amount of Overload dmg from the Raiden National variant. + her flexibility, Xiangling actually makes for quite the good choice to level.
It's a good idea to have 1 character to be at 89 (avoid wasting exp) to take the brunt at first. Later on I got more and more frugal, wanted to get them beyond 80, but didn't want to spend so much.
One note: The actual main reason why it is better to upgrade Hp/def scalers over Atk scalers is because while you are able to get your BASE atk from other sources (well, one source which is your weapon, not affected by character level), BASE def and BASE hp come solely from your character. Therefore the BASE HP/DEF you get from your character is more valuable than the base ATK you would get.

Level 90 on Bennett is a very ineffecient waste, you only gain a tiny amount of base attack. Totally not worth it for a support. Keep those books for somebody else more important.
There should be comparison between levels 84-86 and 90 too. I take my characters halfway there. Last few levels are the worst use of exp books and ineffeciency.
One would think that healers (who usually scale off of HP) would be on top of that list but after looking at the optimizer, the increase in healing isn't actually that big between 80* and 90. If I didn't turn my Kokomi into an on-field dps where the damage scaling from her burst attacks is actually bigger than her healing, I probably would just keep her at 80*. So yeah. Outside of units who do mostly transformative reactions, the question of whether or not a character is worth the investment to 90 is actually not that straightforward and will more likely be a case by case basis.
I'm just at the point of trying to tackle abyss 12 and strategizing which units to raise by how much is daunting. This was very timely and helpful, thank you.
I watched a lot of your videos when I started playing genshin, and followed it of course. Things went great and I really enjoyed playing thanks to them. It's been a while since I encountered this video again. I realized/rememberd that the reason why all these kind of decision (I didn't know what's the reason behind why i think those were the right decision) felt so natural to do is because I watched a lot of this and your other videos for newboes in the past. Now, my account is great, I pretty much don't regret anything about it (probably just the characters I pulled because it's so tempting lol) - they're so strong and I can make so many teams from them just as you said. Id say you really helped me avoid the mistakes and have a really good time playing genshin

Xiangling seems pretty good to level to 90 if you have her in a team that can overload; In Raiden national, she procs overload a lot, so em and lv's are good for her there perhaps. That's what I was thinking for my team at least :P
Would you be interested in making a video explaining EM tresheholds for certain characters? Like I know my Fishl needs EM for aggrivate... but how much vs the atk? At what amount of EM can I stop and focus on other stats? Similar for other quicken carries and supports tbh, with bloom reactions the answer is easy😂
Personally I have her on an EM weapon and ATK sands for her artifacts. Fischl deals insane amounts of dmg and ATK is beneficial because she does that regardless of whether or not she's proccing a reaction (unlike someone like Kuki). I can't remember exactly but my Fischl is around 400-450 EM, most of it from The Stringless and then I look for the highest rolls possible on substats

Your top priority should be crit and dmg bonus while building fischl, ATK and EM come afterward. With a low base atk weapon just focus on getting em mainly(or if you have excessive em go atk) otherwise you can split as much as you want. While atk and em increase her base dmg and aggravate dmg respectively, Crit and Dmg bonus increase both, so you should generally focus crit unless you have wasted substats. Other than that, you should also look at the character you pair with fischl. Lots of aggravate or electro swirl procs (nor counting quicken cause its pretty rare. NOTE spread does not proc fischl A4) from your ONFIELD characters means you should focus em more, otherwise if they have a low rate of elemental application (ie Raiden) you should absolutely build a hefty amount of attack.

I use her mostly in Yae quicken team with Kazuha, so I'm guessing there's a lot of aggrevate procs to trigger her A4. My main problem is choosing between using harp (r1) vs stringless (r5), and if to balance them with an opposite sands. (I also have Lyney's bow, so maybe it's even better than those two and with its atk giving passive EM sands would be worth it I'm not sure).

Something that always gets missed on these discussions is that enemy defense scales off of relative level. It might not make a real difference in the overworld, but in Abyss floor 12, against level 100 enemies, the damage difference between lvl 80 and 90 Xiangling for example is really significant
Still have no level 90 characters lmao my resin efficiency and bad habit of spreading resources early on in 1.0 through albedo’s release (where I stopped) really slowed my progress. It’s nice knowing a little more on what to do now after a few years away from the game
well before anything else first thing you should do is to build Hyperbloom team and lvling Hyperbloom triggering character to lvl 90 (if you care about meta ofc). Because Hyperbloom team is the easiest to build and one of if not the strongest team.
admittedly I level 90 characters based on just their bosses and how much of a mental pain they'll be, I just got baizhu to lvl 90 and then pulled kirara, she's gonna be lvl 80 for a while because I am sick of that 3 shield jerk
Hello, I'm actually having trouble with my characters, I'm currently at Ar 45 and my highest level is just lv. 70 I don't have many friends that can help me tho sadly and not many players join me on coop (maybe because I was already at a quite higher level) I do hope you can help me with my problem. Your videos was really a good help, but I just can't take actions yet and build them one by one because I just came back a month ago and it's still hellweek at school
Be careful though with artifacts amping specific reactions like electro set. After tests with Fischl, it gives you +40% not a 1.4 multiplier. If you already have a, say, 200% multiplier with EM it will be additive and add up to 240% damage, not 1.4x and so not 280% as I first thought since in Genshin usualy when the buff aren't from the same source it's multiplicative... Si the more EM you have the less % dps this kind of artifact will give you.
I'm still ar45 (will farm first before leveling the world) and finally have the cores of my two main teams: Alhaitham with Yelan and Kuki (4° Zhongli for the overworld and Xinchiu for abyss for now till I get Nahida), and Neuvillette (c0) with Zhongli (abyss: with Kazuha and Fishl -or Xiangling sometimes-; overworld: Fishl and Yaoyao) though this last team will probably change a bit when I get Furina (guaranteed after losing my 50/50 on Neuvillette's c1). I'm thinking of leveling up Alhaitham and Neuvillette first, then Kuki, before Yelan and Furina (though it's just baffling how in my Alhaitham team, when I get Nahida, all of them will need to eventually get to 90 and I only currently have 7 million mora and 800 purple exp books -I spent a lot to outfit to the basic stats my new Neuvillette team- T^T 😅)

Really great informative stuff as always, coincidentally this is where I am at in game at the moment and have been pondering on whom to progress further first. I find Kazuha my strongest character so I'm leaning towards starting with him, then moving on to Kuki Shinobu, Nahida and Yelan. Where does Kokomi and Xingqui fit into the mix btw?
Xingqiu would be the last to 90 because he is an attack scaler and typically does not build elemental mastery even when used in hyperbloom Kokomi only if you are using her for Nilou bloom or somehow need that extra bit of healing
If you havent upgraded yet, I would highly recommend upgrading kuki before kazuha - while the video mentions that Kazuha is most versatile, All of Kuki’s hyperbloom teams rely on kuki solely for hyperbloom damage, so she is definetly going to be dealing much much more dmg than Kazuha. In essence, Kuki teams will be getting a qualitative increase in dmg by level90ing Kuki, but kazuha - not so much, unless you are running burgeon kazuha…
I think that Bennett should be am honorable mention, he doesn't deal any dmg on his own but his buff scales off base atk and his heals off of HP, it'll increase your survivability and dmg of the while team (if you use his burst correctly)
Just level your character to lv 81 and be done with it. For every character you didn't build to level 90 you already save materials for other new character to level 1->75. The only character that worth going to level 90 is your main char that always trigger transformative reaction. Even healer and shielder is not worth it because the increase is so little. Naturally if you got a lot of materials and mora you can always max out your favorite character. 😁
I sometimes decide to level a character to 90 when artifacts arent giving me an upgrade and all my resin is going up in smokes. At least levels and talents are guaranteed increase.
I am testing a summary bot. @me if you want some summary. Here are the summaries for this video: - Leveling up a character from level 80 to 90 in Genshin Impact requires a lot of resources, and it is important to know who really benefits from being level 90. - The best characters to get to level 90 in Genshin Impact are those that consistently trigger transformative reactions, such as swirl, bloom, burgeon, hyper bloom, superconduct, and so on. - Transformative reactions depend on two things for damage: the amount of Elemental Mastery a character has and that character's level. - Leveling up a character from level 80 to 90 can result in a significant damage increase, which can be similar to going from a four-star free-to-play weapon to a five-star signature weapon.
And then after a couple of years of playing you'll hit a point where you're sitting on around 1k each of the purple and red xp books, and around 27m mora, and you'll just level anyone to 90 who you use even remotely often.
The conclusion regarding lvling HP/DEF-based character to 90 is correct but the reasoning is a bit off. The main reason is the source of your BASE stats - for base ATK a large chunk of it is from your weapons whereas for base HP/DEF the only source of it is character level.
As an f2p who never spent a single dime, I still have around 70000000 mora and about 5000+ hero's wit to decide which character will be levelled up to 90. Indecisive may it be, but its also a patient/waiting game in the long term project. Some players spent what they receive without second thoughts and end up regretting so far.
Well, all the characters that I choose to level up are at lvl 89, except Bennett, who I accidentally levelled to 90. If I play them long enough, eventually some of them will naturally level to 90 through quests and treasure chests...
you should level to 90 first : your favorit character. (also, i often seen player with near perfect actefact, that they probably farmed for months ; but with character lv 80 skill level 8. they would gain damage far more efficently by uncreasing the character to lv 90 skill level 10, than by trying to replace good artifact by perfect artefact)
Real killer here for their dmg may be their talent level - Unless it is, like stated in the video a HP/DEF character, (I’m assuming its not a transformative reactor cause then talents don’t even come up in this scenario) The dmg increase from 80/90 to 90/90 is not much- note that you are able to level a characters talent levels to 10 the moment you reach ascension 6 (80/90) which means they can have a lvl80 character with level 10 talents.
@@dont_ask_none even for an atk based character, it is ~+4.5% dps, and ~+12% survivability, to increase the level from 80 to 90. for damage, as good as ~1.5 roll on ATK%.
I just level all my 4*s to 80 and 5* to 90, and all my weapons to 90. I’ve been playing since it started though. I’ve been getting a lot of my 5* triple crowned…now that’s tedious
If broken 4 star.... Level them uo Playing dendro reactions level them up Niche characters level them to at least 80 for talents up to 8 But if you play the game long enough, you can prolly level at least 1 character every patch.
Is it normal to only have 2 limited 5 star characters as an ar45? I do have 2 other more 5 star characters from the standard banner and me losing my 50/50 to which is tighnari and keqing.
I've been getting a lot of characters to level 80 (but not ascendable yet since I'm still holding back on the AR Quest) recently so this is a super useful vid to me. Although I was already guessing Kuki would probably be the first character I take to Level 90 due to the double-dipping mentioned at the end of the vid. I was pretty unsure about the rest of my roster so the vid helps solidify that future plan even more. Now if only Fontaine could drop some stinker characters so they don't keep interrupting my plans with mustgets.

Check the bonus stat of your most used characters - it gets a final boost with the last ascension. That and access to level 9 and 10 talents. If neither of those seem very useful, there is little pressure to do the last ascension. But unlike with artefacts, that are wholly RNG and you can continue to farm them forever, the ascension boons are guaranteed.
In my case I already know that I would 90 both my Kazuha and Sucrose, in Thoma's case though not sure. But I do think he would be fun to play so I will consider getting him to 90.
Sorry for an unrelated question. New player of a few weeks. Furina will be my first 5 star to pull for but I have enough wishes to guarantee her. A random acquaint fate today got me a 5* claymore called Wolf's Gravestone. I'm hoping for Beidou to use it who will be on Furina's banner. Would the two of them and Xinqiu and Barbara be a good team? The only others I've invested in so far are dendro MC, fischl, Xiangling and YaoYao. I like all of those, but thinking Beidou, Furina, XQ, and Barbara may mesh better? Ty in advance for any suggestions!

I would recommend using fischl somewhere in the team if you can - my personal choice would be replacing barbara with fischl, as xinqiu can reduce dmg and provide some healing while furina seems to have some healing capabilities as well, (I’m not quite sure how she works yet so take my words with a grain of salt), While you may not have unlocked Fischl’s A4 ascension passive yet, (If you have, Fischl is an absolute must for this team!) Fischl will provide some much needed energy generation for beidou, especially if beidou is running wolf’s gravestone. If you need more healing, running barbara is fine though!
And then there is me who levels everyone to level 81 so I know they are ascended (costs only 10 books) and I'm trying do do this with everyone (the ones I play that is) so the get there ascension bonus. It just taking quite some time to get all those stones and enough books 😅

Like guilia’s fischl, 400-450 em is generally a good stopping point.

Si the more EM you have the less % dps this kind of artifact will give you.
Should I get benny to lvl 90 first?

I'm still ar45 (will farm first before leveling the world) and finally have the cores of my two main teams: Alhaitham with Yelan and Kuki (4° Zhongli for the overworld and Xinchiu for abyss for now till I get Nahida), and Neuvillette (c0) with Zhongli (abyss: with Kazuha and Fishl -or Xiangling sometimes-; overworld: Fishl and Yaoyao) though this last team will probably change a bit when I get Furina (guaranteed after losing my 50/50 on Neuvillette's c1). I'm thinking of leveling up Alhaitham and Neuvillette first, then Kuki, before Yelan and Furina (though it's just baffling how in my Alhaitham team, when I get Nahida, all of them will need to eventually get to 90 and I only currently have 7 million mora and 800 purple exp books -I spent a lot to outfit to the basic stats my new Neuvillette team- T^T 😅)
just get kuki and Neuvillette leveled - dont bother with alhaitham.

It's not about the materials needed for level 90. It's about the time required to obtain those materials as well being patient with 🤷

Really great informative stuff as always, coincidentally this is where I am at in game at the moment and have been pondering on whom to progress further first. I find Kazuha my strongest character so I'm leaning towards starting with him, then moving on to Kuki Shinobu, Nahida and Yelan. Where does Kokomi and Xingqui fit into the mix btw?
Xingqiu would be the last to 90 because he is an attack scaler and typically does not build elemental mastery even when used in hyperbloom
Kokomi only if you are using her for Nilou bloom or somehow need that extra bit of healing
If you havent upgraded yet, I would highly recommend upgrading kuki before kazuha - while the video mentions that Kazuha is most versatile,
All of Kuki’s hyperbloom teams rely on kuki solely for hyperbloom damage, so she is definetly going to be dealing much much more dmg than Kazuha. In essence, Kuki teams will be getting a qualitative increase in dmg by level90ing Kuki, but kazuha - not so much, unless you are running burgeon kazuha…
I think that Bennett should be am honorable mention, he doesn't deal any dmg on his own but his buff scales off base atk and his heals off of HP, it'll increase your survivability and dmg of the while team (if you use his burst correctly)

Just level your character to lv 81 and be done with it. For every character you didn't build to level 90 you already save materials for other new character to level 1->75. The only character that worth going to level 90 is your main char that always trigger transformative reaction. Even healer and shielder is not worth it because the increase is so little.
Naturally if you got a lot of materials and mora you can always max out your favorite character. 😁

I sometimes decide to level a character to 90 when artifacts arent giving me an upgrade and all my resin is going up in smokes.
At least levels and talents are guaranteed increase.
Selected 15 characters. Got 12 of them. Now at level 80. (AR rank 45)will pull for 3 more characters. Will make all 15 level 90.

I guess I'll take my mora and heros wids and finally max my kuki, she has been on level 81 for way too long.
And then after a couple of years of playing you'll hit a point where you're sitting on around 1k each of the purple and red xp books, and around 27m mora, and you'll just level anyone to 90 who you use even remotely often.
The conclusion regarding lvling HP/DEF-based character to 90 is correct but the reasoning is a bit off. The main reason is the source of your BASE stats - for base ATK a large chunk of it is from your weapons whereas for base HP/DEF the only source of it is character level.

As an f2p who never spent a single dime, I still have around 70000000 mora and about 5000+ hero's wit to decide which character will be levelled up to 90. Indecisive may it be, but its also a patient/waiting game in the long term project. Some players spent what they receive without second thoughts and end up regretting so far.

Well, all the characters that I choose to level up are at lvl 89, except Bennett, who I accidentally levelled to 90. If I play them long enough, eventually some of them will naturally level to 90 through quests and treasure chests...
32k exp books.
And me that never has enough.
you should level to 90 first : your favorit character.
(also, i often seen player with near perfect actefact, that they probably farmed for months ; but with character lv 80 skill level 8.
they would gain damage far more efficently by uncreasing the character to lv 90 skill level 10, than by trying to replace good artifact by perfect artefact)
Real killer here for their dmg may be their talent level - Unless it is, like stated in the video a HP/DEF character,
(I’m assuming its not a transformative reactor cause then talents don’t even come up in this scenario)
The dmg increase from 80/90 to 90/90 is not much-
note that you are able to level a characters talent levels to 10 the moment you reach ascension 6 (80/90) which means they can have a lvl80 character with level 10 talents.
@@dont_ask_none even for an atk based character, it is ~+4.5% dps, and ~+12% survivability, to increase the level from 80 to 90.
for damage, as good as ~1.5 roll on ATK%.

I just level all my 4*s to 80 and 5* to 90, and all my weapons to 90. I’ve been playing since it started though. I’ve been getting a lot of my 5* triple crowned…now that’s tedious
How about bennet to lv90 for boost atk from bennet base attack? And healing% from HP% lv90...
Or just enough at 80 ?

Niche characters level them to at least 80 for talents up to 8
But if you play the game long enough, you can prolly level at least 1 character every patch.
Is it normal to only have 2 limited 5 star characters as an ar45? I do have 2 other more 5 star characters from the standard banner and me losing my 50/50 to which is tighnari and keqing.
I am AR 41...And the only five star I got is the Traveler 💀💀
at this point I have more level 90 characters than NOT level 90
I've been getting a lot of characters to level 80 (but not ascendable yet since I'm still holding back on the AR Quest) recently so this is a super useful vid to me. Although I was already guessing Kuki would probably be the first character I take to Level 90 due to the double-dipping mentioned at the end of the vid. I was pretty unsure about the rest of my roster so the vid helps solidify that future plan even more. Now if only Fontaine could drop some stinker characters so they don't keep interrupting my plans with mustgets.

This is great, thank you. I was never sure if that last ascension was worth it. My friend says it isn't, and would rather spend those resources farming artifacts...
Check the bonus stat of your most used characters - it gets a final boost with the last ascension. That and access to level 9 and 10 talents. If neither of those seem very useful, there is little pressure to do the last ascension. But unlike with artefacts, that are wholly RNG and you can continue to farm them forever, the ascension boons are guaranteed.

Sorry for an unrelated question. New player of a few weeks. Furina will be my first 5 star to pull for but I have enough wishes to guarantee her. A random acquaint fate today got me a 5* claymore called Wolf's Gravestone. I'm hoping for Beidou to use it who will be on Furina's banner. Would the two of them and Xinqiu and Barbara be a good team? The only others I've invested in so far are dendro MC, fischl, Xiangling and YaoYao. I like all of those, but thinking Beidou, Furina, XQ, and Barbara may mesh better? Ty in advance for any suggestions!

@@tauhidshaikh4304 I had like around 30 wishes. I don’t know if my wishes from Hu Tao’s banner in 3.4 would count but its not in my history so I don’t think so.
I would recommend using fischl somewhere in the team if you can - my personal choice would be replacing barbara with fischl, as xinqiu can reduce dmg and provide some healing while furina seems to have some healing capabilities as well, (I’m not quite sure how she works yet so take my words with a grain of salt),
While you may not have unlocked Fischl’s A4 ascension passive yet, (If you have, Fischl is an absolute must for this team!) Fischl will provide some much needed energy generation for beidou, especially if beidou is running wolf’s gravestone.
If you need more healing, running barbara is fine though!
I level and build up my most used characters to 90 and leave the rest at 20. Then I will level and build another all the way up. One at a time.
I mainly use overload and hyper bloom need to level up all my main without exception...
