Prefer the fender sound myself. I once bought a set of every string I could find, and after playing them on different guitars, just preferred the ''feel'' of the Fenders. And it gave perfect intonation. I've since used them on most of my guitars.
both sound good . Prefer fenders though. Warmer not as bright.
Was just about to order some Fender strings, they're very good price at Thomann. This video changed my mind. Elixirs has clearly better definition imho. Even if I'm a beginner I want my guitar to sound it's best, and even though they're more expensive it's not much compared to the price difference between a mediocre and quality guitar, not to mention Martins and such... So, I've opted for decent quality 2nd hand guitars, set them up correct and fitted them with quality strings (of thinner gauge for easier playing=if you play better they sound better).
On my big dreadnought I prefer the Fenders since they are not as loud. The Elixer are too noisy to me. Especially when singing. Thanks!
I think the fenders feel good too, which is something I generally don’t think about with strings.
But does fender smooth?
