GeoTracker 2023.1: Track heads in After Effects!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 бер 2023
- Get ready for head tracking in After Effects! Our 3D object tracker now comes with a built-in head model. No need to go for a random 3D model to track the character’s head in your footage - just pick the generic primitive, align and track it! Optionally, you can use FaceBuilder for Blender to create precise head models.
Next feature - surface masking! Use it to mask out those parts of the 3D model that you want to exclude from tracking as it moves. That means reflections on car windows, a fringe bouncing on the character’s forehead or extreme facial expressions are no longer big obstacles for tracking!
Though this release touches primarily on GeoTracker for After Effects, Nuke package and FaceBuilder for Blender have also undergone maintenance updates with bug fixes and some minor improvements, so don’t forget to update them too!

Best ever
is there a step by step tutorial for tracking with Element 3D? thanks!
Hi! If you're asking about a tutorial on GeoTracker integration with Element 3D, here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/lPdqKQC_pIg/v-deo.html
GeoTracker for BLENDER please....when is it coming
We're still working on it and hope to release it soon!
With the use of the right plugins it can also be done with blender rather than element 3d
🤩🤩🤩🤩
Can you make tutorial export to maya ?
For example, we have continuity issues on our shots with face wounds etc, can we track 2D elements to the 3D mesh?
Hey! I'm afraid I don't understand your question. Could you please provide more details?
Will Facial Expressions ever be available like in the Nuke version?
We're considering it! No plans yet, but it's on our radar
@@keentools gotcha, I can only imagine how annoying it must be to code every feature from one software to another, so I understand....but as along as this feature eventually makes it to the paid Blender version, I'll be first in line to buy, since it would be the perfect solution for my work!
Does Geotracker work with a 2:1 aspect ratio? struggling with it.
Hi! Not at the moment, but we hope to add it to future versions of the plug-in.
Is it possible to export the geo as alembic or fbx?
You can export a geo as OBJ or FBX using 'Export to file' option on the 'Geometry' tab of GeoTracker.
In case you want to export tracked geo, there's no direct exporting option at the moment. However, as a workaround, you can export tracking results to Cinema 4D Lite first (it comes with AE for free). And then, you will be able to export them from C4D Lite in the FBX/ABC format.
hi guys, can you export the tracking data into blender to get the rendering done there?
Hey! Yes, currently, we don't offer a direct option, but you can still export tracking results to Cinema 4D Lite first (it comes with AE for free). And then, you will be able to export them from C4D Lite in the FBX format, for example, and use this file in Blender.
We also have a free beta of GeoTracker for Blender now, so you can do the tracking part right in Blender.
@@keentools ok cool so the result it’s gonna be keyframed in an AE camera as any after effect camera track right ? Thanks for the reply
when i do this, i can track the head pretty perfectly yet when i pair my 3D object to the null it is flying all over the place? help :(
I have same issue
Hey! Don't forget to pair the 3D object to the null, then open the 3D object settings and set the position to zero. This way, the position of the Null object and your 3D object should match.
@@keentools I did try that and had similar results
What got a better result was exporting the tracked primitive to obj and then blender, then fitting my 3D asset to the primitive properly and re-exporting to after effects.
