    My ex husband's family had an antique organ similar to the one you have. Those "risers" were for candles to sit on as the organ was intially used before electricity was invented and common. The one in my husband's family belonged to a grandfather who was a traveling musician. He played mostly secular music in concert halls and saloons!

    Spread your dry flocking on wax paper, lay another piece of wax paper on top and use a brayer to roll out the lumps. Fold your wax paper in half to slide the flocking back into your jar.

    My daughter just bought me a quart of color place and a gallon of gladden paint, the gladden was $14, the quart was $5, at Walmart. It was great.

    • @shabbymeetsbling615

      Exactly!! Did you know that many of these paints are actually made in the same factories then they put the appropriate labels on them for the different companies?

    Those two round things off the organ were to hold possible first, candles and later, oil lamps to light the songbook so organist could see how to play.

    Dawn that organ was from before the turn of the century. And those two pedestals were to hold kerosene lights so you could read your music in the evening.

    The two pieces from the organ were candle or oil lamp holders so they could see to play the organ after dark, most early Victorian homes didn't have electricity, so of course they used candles, oil lamps and firelight to see.

    As old as that organ is, i would surmise they are candle holders.

    I dont have any of the chalking stuff & instead of buying it, I wonder if the tons of sidewalk chalk and blackboard chalk I have left over from when my son used to color the sidewalk would work if I used a an old cheese grater on the chalk sticks to make chalk dust or whatever?? Hmmmm....Lol! Do you think that is the same texture??

    • @shabbymeetsbling615
      @shabbymeetsbling615  3 місяці тому

      Yes it does work! You can grate it then add water to break it down even more. I have also bought colored carpentry chalk to use as well Em! I definitely think you would get the same texture!! Have a great night!
