I´ve never heard this Ballade being played so wonderful, exactly, empathetic and heartbreaking! Chopin would have loved to be able hearing and watching beautiful Olga Scheps celebrating one of his masterworks so unique captivating!!! Bravo and thank you to the one and only wonderful Olga Scheps 🙂

Olga's interpretation is empathetic, assured, sparkling, lively, sad - in other words, she has captured the essence of Chopin's heart - the melancholy, the yearning, the triumphant - sometimes apparent contradictions in mood, all expressed with honesty and sincerity. No small accomplishment, that - for which, many thanks.

You are magical. What I enjoy is that it feels like you do not play the song, you become the song, and that is what we experience: not the song itself but it flowing through you, and you through it. Your passion and dedication is inspiring.
This is excellent. Much slower and reflective and it really feels that the pianist is savouring every bit of the work.

This Ballade no 1 has become a goal for all pianists. I have only heard it live once, in Skagen, Denmark, about 1975, with a Russian pianist. As I understand, Olga Scheps here delivers a quite fantastic version, but dont listen too much to me, I believe that an expert on this music you can only be living together with it for a long time. Or a long life. But in my humble opinion I very much appreciate Olgas playing.

I've been transfixed by her playin ! Hr b minor sonata is a revelaton . I was afraid to hear hr ballade.This is my favorite with no.4 and Hofmann,Horowitz ,Michelangeli,arau and a thousand others hav had admirable things to say . Surprise here is a Chopin one instantly can feeland believe in ! She has all the tonal resource and imagination of the best Chopinists ! I will be learning and loving this rendition and coming back to it . The Amjor section is not overplayed like rubinstein told a student there is never false bravado or sheer bigness in Chopin like we find in others .5:30 has never sounded better or made more calibrated sense in its speeding up then final allargando . I wonder now that I was so usurpd by Yuja Wang's immense talent. I think Wang is not allowed to be this personal and subjective when you are playing for the mases : you offend more people. This kind of musical thinking would be good to hear every time she plays it . How many musicians can you say that about .Her scherzi will be a welcome treat . If she can dream this tastefully what will her Schuman Symp etudes and Kreisleriana etc.be like !

ich habe keine Kritik. Ich vergleiche auch nicht so gerne denn alles was verglichen wird kann schwerlich sich selbst sein.
Was ich aber hörte ist sehr viel versprechend: Die Musik strömt und klingt. Die Auffassung ist jetzt schon Wunderbar. Chopin lächelt beglückt und weiss was es heisst dreissig zu sein. Zweifelsohne hört er eine, wo die Seele jetzt schon so weit gewachsen ist eine sich immer weiter entwickelnde Zukunft. Danke

Un million de Watts musicales déversés sur le clavier, heureusement les cordes ont résisté ! Nous assistons au "Woman Power of Love".
Each phrase shaped and given the voicings of many singing as if there were words attached to each sound .Other pianists would do well to think of what she accomplishes and how here .Very free in other ways besides rubato makes me rethink what i think i know about chopin's style -the easy flow here misses the agitato so often a part of his personality . He is not Scriabin or maybe they both overly sensitive and meticulous about smells , cleanliness (Chopin could tell if someone had been smoking when they were loaned his books . He was not easy to get along with and Scriabin's pathologies have been well written about . I have a feeling much that we thin sounds pretty should not sound so . then he again he did write his music to be sold but it takes one look at any page of his to see how the guise can be altered . Which is right ? e can play him according to our own moods . Jazz musicians understand a lot when they don't try to repeat the same feeling and actual rythms .Pogorelich tried to free us as did Hofmann and Cherkassky even crazy Landowska probably thought she was playing the music as the geniuses would have it . we are never right . Often composers are glad to hear what someone else sees .Ive read enough memoirs to know it only instrumentalists and teachers who so foolishly , rigidly add the slough of time !
