@SailingSweetRuca Great episode as usual. Please keep us in the loop (more frequently). And yet again please insert the date next to the coordinates so we can chose the best timing to visit those places as well. Thank you and keep them coming!
A shout out to all the sailors in the Georgian Bay! A beautiful place!!!! One of our first ever cruising experiences took us near by through Tobermory!
Please sir, I'd like some more. This is like my parents showing me the shiny new bike in the garage but telling me I have to wait 3 weeks until my birthday to ride it. You two are having entirely too much fun. Get busy editing!!!
I'd love to see you do a video on that Pack-Man Island where the Germans were. It would also be nice if you posted better maps so that we can see your journey much more clearly.
How about, while crossing the pacific, you release extra episodes from all this footage that you have? All those places and adventures look very interesting...
Let the floppy things out until they flap, pull them back in until they don’t. Don’t be a human cleat, if the boat is tipping ease the sheet. Steer with your sails, use the rudder as a trim tab. Don’t hit rocks and docks. Get a big anchor. There ya go, all the insider secrets 😉
😊 We do love teaching sailing, maybe one of these days we will make some how-to videos. That is really the main stuff though, without over complicating it 😅
I'm so happy I found these sailing videos in Chilean Patagonia. I follow a few sailing youtube channels and had always told them to come down here. I live in Puerto Varas, about 13 miles north of Puerto Montt and worked for 8 years in a company with operations in the Aysén Patagonian region. I've sailed to Laguna San Rafael four times and driven the Carretera Austral all the way from Puerto Montt down to Villa O'Higgings and Caleta Tortel several times, too. The Chilean Patagonia is a wonder from land and sea that needs to be shown. I thank you both for doing so. I was specially touched by your stay in Chiloe where one of my grandmothers was from; I have several ancestors buried there, specifically in Isla Lemuy (just south of Castro), and many relatives all around (my grandmother had 12 siblings). I wish you a safe trip to the other side of the World. I hope you can visit Easter Island, another incredible part of Chile. Cheers.
Wow! Thanks for sharing such an amazing story. We love to hear about this. We were able to spend one day in Puerto Varas when Kate's mom visited. A beautiful city as well. Patagonia has SO much to offer. It is very fortunate that we get to share it with everyone.
So nice you got to go to Chiloe and Castro. We had guests last night stay with us who were in Castro yesterday. Love the Curranto. Good seafood for sure. Great to see you all get to visit all those hard to get to places and meet the true beauty of Chile .... the people. With the ocean and the Andes it really makes Chile the place to live. Thanks for the video. Jim in Chile.
Hi Jim! We are glad you enjoyed! Hello to your guests! We forgot the name of the little circular breads on the Curranto, we remember they were an important part for them though, do you know what they are called?
Hi Michael, the sails are performing great! The consistency of trim is phenomenal, especially when combined with our new Marlow D2 GP sheets! A night and day difference!
Aaaaaaaaamazing ‼️ 🎉. Love being with you in your season of sailing. Our was a bit over 25 years, and now the next boat is going to be power. Such wonderful spots you are taking us to. Reminds me of sailing from Roque's Bluff and Island, to Machiasport, Buck's Harbor, and Cutler and beyond. Amazing places and amazing people. The in-ground cookout you experienced in Chile, we call clambake in Maine. Very similar setup. C. O. N. G. R. A. T. U. L. A. T. I. O. N. S. on your accomplishment. Love to crew for you both some day. Perhaps in the S.Pacific. 😊 See you next time. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
Coffee with Sweet Ruca has never been better. The video format of telling a story by showing the story is amazing. Kate is crushing the editing. Had to laugh at the reference to "knuckleheads". That was everyday language in my retired profession. That part of the world is amazingly beautiful. Absolutely the best sailing channel on UA-cam. Keep having fun and stay safe. Bill
Great video, loving the cameos with Roxy. We are still in Brazil, adoring the multiculturalism this country has to offer, probably headed to the Caribbean or back to Mindelo, because my Portuguese is getting better. We have not decided which direction we will sail. It is a La Nina year, meaning many strong hurricanes in the Caribbean, being something I do not want to deal with..
Bom dia! We love hearing this! If you have time, take a road trip and explore the interior of Brazil, like you said, the multiculturalism there is amazing! So much to see, so little time! Make sure you practice your Brazillian vs Portugese accents :-)
@@SailingSweetRuca You are right, getting my ear accustomed to the Brazilian accent has taken some time, but I am getting there. One thing to note is we got a CPF online before arriving in Brazil and this has helped, because some stores require a CPF for using a credit card to make purchases. Just search on Google for an online vendor, getting it delivered electronically in about two weeks.
Wonderful video guys, love the interaction you have with the locals. You can’t beat that experience of being welcomed in. Great editing and videos, beautiful country and thanks for sharing. Uplifting content is such crazy times
Great job on part 2 of sailing in Patagonia. I love the dolphins. Roxy. Looks like she's enjoying her time there too. The drone footage shows the true beauty of this beautiful country
Good question! We heard lots about it from many locals that live in the area. Strange things, lights in the sky, disappearing islands, etc. Isla Kent was the center of it. There is also a movie called “Isla Alien” you can find on Netflix, that dives into some of the other rumors.
Imagine that most islands are volcanos rising high above the ocean floor. Read about the Santorini - Thera eruption(s) of the Bronze Age - in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and imagine that an island formed by volcanic eruption can have another now weaker eruption under it that may never surface but rather make what is visible above water, collapse and disappear under water. Most mountain ranges form where tectonic plates collide and are pushed up against each other. In between 200 million and 500 million years, my continent will probably have disappeared into such a collision. Elsewhere, tectonic plates drift apart, also causing volcanic activity - Iceland has its Western tip in the American tectonic plate, and the rest on the European one. When volcanic activity comes to the surface, it is totally clear. When it happens below the surface it must be because of aliens? Iceland is split by these forces, and there's a split line in Africa too.
Chiloe isla, my favorite place to explore, sweet friendly people ,Castro , Ancud , and many more small towns. My best desire to explore a Juan Fernandez island where discover a Robinson Cruise. Fear winds and following seas 🌊 ⛵️ to the south Pacific Islands 🏝 I m still.in Patagonia, my good ,good friend 29 years old boulding wooden classic design sailboat ⛵️ in Tortel , Patagonia and ready in one year sailing ⛵️ from Patagonia to Juan Fernandez isla and Tahiti Fatu Hiva island .Inviting me to join a crew, I was in Tortel 7 days in his own house 🏠 just five days ago ,now in Punta Arenas
This whole adventure has been mind blowing... only you guys have been cool enough to do it!!!! 😁
😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

Great idea, thanks! 🙏 the anchorages in this video took place from late December through mid February, the Austral summer.
I have followed you from the start and you have always been my favorite channel I hope you get things back on track
Thanks Brad! Cheers!
Another awesome summary of your adventures. I'm torn between wanting additional videos of you travels and real time updates.
We have the footage and will have flashback videos one day!!!!
Have long wondered about this Chilean island coast so have enjoyed your insights and shared experiences.
Excellent!!!
Greetings from Georgian Bay.

Haha! Right on Doug! 😀
New sails look great. I bet you were both smiling after hoisting them for the first time and feeling the boat accelerating.
Very much so! :-D
I'd love to see you do a video on that Pack-Man Island where the Germans were. It would also be nice if you posted better maps so that we can see your journey much more clearly.
Thanks for the feedback. Trying to improve every day!
Awesome video and adventures... Best wishes and Fair Winds...
Thank you kindly! The best to you also!
Great video guys! Hey Curtis, I could have translated for you on the island of Machuque.
Thanks!!!🙏
Great telling!
Great comment :-)
You've got to do full blown videos on much of this in the future. So fun. Congratulations.
We have the footage! We just need to find the time to edit it all :-) Lots of good stuff we couldn't fit in.
How about, while crossing the pacific, you release extra episodes from all this footage that you have? All those places and adventures look very interesting...

Hi guys;
I don’t see any youtubers who sail using twing lines. Always enjoy your attention to boat speed!
We love that you notice things like this!!!!!
Excelente

Love the Star Trek reference! 😅 Keep crushing it! 🔥🔥

Milcao. They're made from potatoes and yummy. Jim
The sails really look good. How well do you think they are performing?

Hey Bill! Good morning! We are having our coffee with you now :-)
@@SailingSweetRuca Howdy. Bet your view with coffee was better than mine.
That coast is a mirror image of the BC fiord land coast! So much NATURE without an urban presence. Thank you. Love it.
A wonderful trip and love seeing & learning about new countries/people. You guys are amazing to watch 🇨🇦 ❤
Happy Sunday Yvonne!
Loved the recap - and an excellent job at that! Safe crossing, guys XO Darcee
