I doubt it will be successful because people from Jamshedpur are of very economical mindset (but generous in helping people) and mostly travel to nearby places only like Kolkata, Ranchi, Bhubaneshwar, Patna, etc which are at most a 1-night journey. Very few only like IT professionals and students travel to distant cities, so boarding flights from Ranchi/Kolkata will still work for them.

I agree with you @ chandan and at same time Dhanbad also need an Airport for the domestic purpose as it used to have one prior but with corrupt neta Airport went to Deoghar along with AIIMS and other .
There are lot of people who travel via Kolkata in plane but there should be 1 Airport in Dhanbad too.

i m from ranchi but also spend 2 years in jamshedpur...jsr is far more ahead in terms of cleanliness,roads and job opportunities where as ranchi is ahead in terms of amenities whether it is no. of malls,multispeciality hospitals,pub and bar culture,world class stadiums,airport,mega bus stand etc...both are luv ❤️

- Driver friendly roads & systematic traffic.
- Expensive stores
- Much Better life quality
- So many top notch ICSE schools
- TATA factories and offices around the city.
- Huge diversity. People from all over India come and work in JSR.
God only knows, why He is ranked Ranchi above.
Though I love hazaribagh however there aree many districts which were under hazaribagh once including Koderma, chatra, bokaro, deoghar, Giridih, ramgarh... It was the biggest district at that time💓
