Yu has parents at home. They were simply away and thus had to ask Dojima to look after Yu. Agree on Joker's parents tho. What kind of parents kicked out their own child without first trying to understand his point of view ? Sojiro even express some distaste toward that attitude
Because it´s Japan. Someone with a criminal record is an outcast and Shujin was the only school who would accept Ren so they had to send him there if they wanted their kid to continue his studies. I think it was the best idea, not only Joker made some great friends and proved his innocence, he was far away from the talk of the town. People there would turn their backs to him making him suffer more. Yu´s parents are always away, that is the same than not having parents that is why he feels so empty and lonely, he is always ditched and is hinted that he has grown up alone. I think that he sees the Dojimas and his friends as his true family. He feels loved there. I think that they don´t want to come back to their homes and is understable, they have nothing there but as they are minors they are forced to do what their parents say.
