The Flaming Piano thanks mate. Always a pleasure hearing from you. It’s simply a knot to form a loop at the end of a stranded rope. Used for tying on anchor chain or if you make it bigger it can be used as a rope to secure your bout in place by throwing it over a pile on when on mooring. Or for throwing over your tow ball when towing something and even used on swings as I’ve just found out in the comments above. 🎣
Good stuff man...we use this knot on our tree swings that we sell...its a fun knot to tie and beautiful if ya can get it right :-). Thanks for sharing!
Cruze's Louisiana Outdoors awesome stuff yeah I can see how that would be great for a swing. Do you use a thimble in the eye to protect the rope from all that friction?
The ‘eye’ actually goes under the swing and acts as a cradle kinda thing on both sides so no friction. We’ve been using this knot for 15 years and bout 1000 swings out in the field over that time...never an issue reported! Great knot! thanks again for sharing man!
zasti78 Hello my friend very nice to hear from you. We’re coming into the end of the season now so I’m hopefully going to find more time to make videos again. I hope everything is well with you and your boat is still going good.
Hi Kev yeah I can’t see any difference as all the tags still go into the exact same locations as they would have. It’s just a matter of which way round your holding the rope. I’ve always done it this way and get many critics saying it’s wrong but I feel that they are just being sheeple and it’s never failed me yet. I’ve even towed a truck with it and it held up. Cheers for the comment. 🎣
With so many people passing through. It Would be pretty cool to know where y’all from let me know down here.
I don't really know what exactly that is but nice knot skills!
