  • AI History: In 1986 the World of Neural Networks was about to change. After decades of silence, finally, a method to efficiently compute the weights in multi-layer Neural Networks was invented. The stage was set for a revolution.

    Superb video!
Where did you find the videos you used here? They seem like old documentaries about AI research
I would love to take a look at them, especially to see how much optimistic they where

Why is a picture of John McCarthy the thumbnail image for this video? He is not mentioned at all

Love this series, i find it so amazing that they got the idea from looking closely at the human brain, astounding!

Tattling on time: Geoffrey Hinton, who was behind that first paper you mentioned, has been working on neural networks this entire time - and just published another paper, "GLOM"... he sketches what is likely to be the future of neural networks: each layer is its own 'capsule'-encoding that performs image-segmentation with cross-talk, annealing into an abstract and strict hierarchy. Like layers of fluids freezing, crystals impinging upon each point from all sides. Hardware had hit a wall, but the step-change into photonics is happening; both as circuits in classical chips, as well as interfacing with AND operating *as* quantum bits. Quantum neural network? That sounds like me...

I was waiting for the part where you get to ReLU but you didn't...you left the video very vague...looks like you don't have any history about activation functions, that's okay people could check Underfitted's video
