    Extremely useful as building sentences will be essential to actually using ASL. Why is the subject repeated?

      The subject 'pronoun' can be repeated.
      Unfortunately, I do not know the grammatical reason. Deaf tend to repeat the subject pronoun

      @@SigningWithOmar Thanks -- this is the first time I've encountered this. Perhaps it comes through Clerc, the Frenchman whom Gallodet persuaded to come with him to America, in which case it might be characteristic of Romance languages, or of French as it was in their time (early 19th century).
