  • Nobel Prize 2024 LIVE: John J. Hopfield and Geoffrey E Hinton Win the Nobel Prize in Physics
The Nobel Prize in Physics has been won by John J. Hopfield and Geoffrey E. Hinton. Hopfield and Hinton were awarded Nobel prize “for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks." Hopfield created a structure that can store and reconstruct information. Hinton invented a method that can independently discover properties in data and which has become important for the large neural networks now in use.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm awards the physics prize. The prize for physics has been awarded 117 times to 224 Nobel laureates between 1901 and 2023. Prizes were established by Swedish dynamite inventor Alfred Nobel. Prizes in chemistry, literature, peace and economics will be awarded over coming days

How could be jaffery Hinton awarded a noble prize in physics where he has nothing to do with physics nor he studied physics? He has no physics degree.

"Slow light" and 'Invisibility cloak' are far better contenders for nobel prize in physics.

Did the noble prize committee read the definition of physics before awarding the noble prize in physics? So sad to know noble prize in science becomes a joke just like noble peace prize.

Since when is computer science considered physics? It’s math!

Congrats, albeit I have to disagree with some of Hinton comment over the past year, I think his thinking like AI in 50 years rather then now

Physics prize was a joke. They awarded it to computer scientists than actual scientists. There was no physics in it. It was computer science. 😂

No no you do not understand his research in that research he used lot of statiscal physics that's why he got nobel prize for physics..Hinton is brilliant guy who completed phd in philosophy, computer science,..

@@anonymous12306 agreed but they used application of physics to develop a pathway for ML models and Ai. It's like I use ohms law to create a switch board.
