Denham Airfield Circuit in less 5 Minutes - EGLD

Flying the PA28 showing how small the Circuit is at Denham Airfield with a maximum ceiling height of 1,000 feet due to Heathrow Airspace above.
The circuit takes just short of 5 minutes to complete from take-off to touch down, so it doesn't leave a lot of room for any mistakes as you are looking out for other traffic and keeping tight in the circuit and below the ceiling height is all fun and games of flying at Denham Airfield.

I did my PPL there in 1973. There was no hard runway, only a grass airstrip. At the time I was working in the hangers as an aircraft electrician / radio engineer, for the company Air Gregory. I used to have a room in the country club on the airfield, it was called Hawkesridge club. I used to work the bar in the evenings in lieu of rent. I got my PPL but let it drop, but some years later in 1990, the PPL got me a job just outside Tokyo in Japan. A Japanese flying school hired me to teach RT procedures and to practice using the phonetic alphabet with Japanese airline pilots and flight attendants. One not so joyous experience was when an American trainee was killed in a helicopter pinnacle landing attempt. The school in trying to avoid being sued by the parents, had me write a gravestone epitaph in English.
The circuit in the video made me remember the time just after getting my PPL, when to impress the local girls, I took 2 or 3 of them for a circuit.

Sounds fun working over in Tokyo teaching the RT, despite the tragic news of the American Trainee.
Very pleased my video brought back memories for you.
Not sure it'll be as easy taking up local girls for a quick flight nowadays but a great story. Maybe a visit to Denham is on the cards to reminisce the good old day.

It's actually a difficult circuit given altitude limit, size and ltma. But has the best references ever to help - motorway, maple cross, CHT ndb, and the reservoir above all.
