  • Lyrical Rap always seems to be behind the rest of Hip-Hops sub genres, while having most fans ask “why isn’t _____ more popular?” or “why doesn’t real rap top the charts?”. We’ll go over why this seems to be the case and why Lyrical Rap tends to never succeed at the levels of pop rap.

Lol, clicksbaiters and record labels love to ride waves, mumble rappers and other hype rappers last as long as their wave lasts, 1-3 years, 5 at best.
Their design is to cash in as much and as quickly as possible, seemingly making them relevant.
Musical talents with a deeper understanding of their crafts and identity, can keep coming back to the mainstream and their career lasts longer with a wider range of projects and artistry.
There is a distinct difference between timeless and popular.

Yes and we’re talking about commercial success, not whether the music is timeless or not. Lyrical rapper historically do not succeed at the level of a pop type rapper.

I agree 100% especially there are good upcoming lyrical rappers but don't get the same buzz as the upcoming trappers...so imo Lyrics in this generation is not seen as cool as everything is just looking for vibes....🤷🏾‍♂️
