Love the watch,in fact ordered one yesterday after various reviews etc, really like your input regards the steinhart and took the plunge.myself have a desk job so expect similar dings but after three months yours still looks brand new face wise, beautiful watch and keep up the great vids, like the vibe you,ve got going !
Absolutely. Great video. These videos reminds me of when I was also the total newbie. Keep them coming
It's just about two years now that I have the 39mm Ocean One and Ocean One GMT (Pepsi) they are my daily wearers, I do wear the GMT more I must admit. Absolutely wonderful timepieces in all respects, and as an Engineer in the field, they get used pretty darned hard.
I have the Ocean 500 premium in titanium. I wore it for 6 years at work every day. I took off the titanium band and used a NATO band. I was a breathalyzer tech and spent God knows how many hours under dashes, hoods and under cars. It has been kayaking, snorkeling, white water rafting surfing and countless showers. I was not particularly careful with it. I can say in all honesty... This is the most bullet proof watch I have ever owned. Still looks as new and I am still wearing it. It does run slightly fast but only because I haven't had it regulated yet. Zero complaints otherwise. I would highly recommend Steinhart.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I don’t think the wear and tear looks anything unusual for the age of the watch. I have a Tudor Pelagos of similar age with comparable signs of wear (maybe a little more)! You are absolutely right about maybe having several watches in the collection to share the load. My Pelagos is my daily wear, my G-shock is used for DIY, exercise and gardening and my Rolex for when I fancy it. You own them to use and enjoy them.
Have enjoyed your videos and agree with your approach...I have the opposite problem…have worn a Rolex Date Just two tone with black face and batons for about 12 years...Shirt and tie professional everyday…just paid for the 2cnd service and realize I should put another watch into rotation…own a boat as well so the choice will have to be on the robust side and withstand ocean weather…started looking into the SKX 007-009 preferably to have modded and stumbled on the Steinart and Squale …your videos are helping…thanx for making them and see you on the next

The Steinhart is a great watch, looks and wears nice. You can eventually buff out those scratches, enjoy it, wear it and don't worry about scratches.
I have the Steinhart Ocean-1 GMT (Coke bezel). I have worn it nearly every day for 18 months...I have dropped my watch, submerged it, etc- I wear it hard and it still looks amazing and runs very accurately. Steinhart is a great watch.
@@relosapulso No, not yet but I have an older model- maybe the new ones are different.
Thanks for the feedback mate...!
Completely agree with you regarding watch usage and wear.
I'm exactly like you, like tough and solid watches that adapt to your lifestyle and you don't need to pay particular attention when doing everyday stuff...
I'm into automatic chronographs ones and my faithful beater since I've bought it is the Victorinox Alpnach 241194.
I'm wearing it when biking or when I'm on holidays at the beach and this watch is simply stunning, running like a charm with a variation of 5 sec/day.
I rotate my watches in my collection for sure, but definitely give them some hard time and consider them for what they have been build, give accurate time adapting to your personal lifestyle...!
Steinhart's are great pieces for the money! I have a Nav B Pilot watch and I love it.
It took me a long time to get a couple of "luxury" watches that I don't want to get scratched up on daily wear so I got that Steinhart Ocean 1 and I love it. I don't call it my beater but my daily wear watch, lol. I am surprised how finely the Ocean 1 has had attention to detail. I think it is a steal for the money. Thanks for the video and in a few months mine will look as nicely worn as yours.
Maybe you dont think you have a luxury watch, but...you have one of the best brands on your wrist, when it comes to bang pr buck, quality, and its Swiss made, run by a superb movement. wear it with pride daily...thats what its meant for;-)
World of Tanks:Jaegerkorpset once you get your hands on the expensive ones the magic wears of quickly
Looking Good Baby! An amazing watch. Great Video and Thanks fr sharing.
I have an Omega Seamaster 300m that I wear almost every day because its so damn comfy. I try to switch to a beater watch for outdoor work, but a good watch just feels right whatever you do. Besides a few scratches just adds to the patina of age. Wear it in good health, my friend.
G Shock is a light, comfortable, cheap (depending on model) workhorse for when you want to avoid damaging something nicer.
Love this watch! Purchasing one, soon.
Hey!
First of all, good quality of videos, I like it.
Second of all, you're completely right about the Steinhart, it's a robust watch but should still be cared for.
What is your other watch? Are you planning on adding anything to your collection?
You can go the Scotchbrite or Garryflex abrasive blocks way for scratches on the brushed surface if you like DIY. Alternatively, you can have your watchmaker refinish the surfaces at the time of first service. Or you can leave it as is. Good video, btw.
I gotta admit, that looks damn good.
its a desk diver so yeah ya get desk scratches. Great watch. I have a Steiny O1 GMT 39 that i love as a daily beater .
I bought the Ocean 1 Vintage Chronograph and I had that issue where the crown Would I screw itself. Probably due to rubbing of the skin. You have to tighten it down good. Mine has not moved on the last 2 weeks. I’ve had my Steinhart for just a little over 30 days. I too am a desk jockey and I actually left the plastic on the clasp to absorb scratches.
The full brushed finish is very easy to refinish, so nothing to worry about.
Don’t know if you’ve seen hamilton watched but if you haven’t they’re a great manufacturer with a lot of history and beautiful pieces
I had a Invicta Pro Diver in 2013, but I gave it away a year later. I just recently purchased a Steeldive 1953, which I absolutely love. For $100 it’s amazing. My beater is a Addiesdive Quartz Sub. I’ll have a Steinhart soon enough. 👌🏼
Those bracelet scuffs will buff right out. I have the same watch. I've even dived with it. Dont baby it but dont abuse it either.
I have a casio rangeman for times when I'm doing less than clean work or hiking/camping
That beard looks good on you for a younger guy
Damn fine watches. I wore one for a year or two. Frankly I've known Rolexes that felt cheaper and weren't as accurate.
The watch was made to be worn. I think it looks great for an everyday watch. I own a Rolex Sub that I wear almost everyday and it's band is scratched up. The bezel has a few light scratches but I just don't want to sell what I have in order to buy the ceramic version. I would spend that money on a different watch such as a Glassute diver, which I have loved since I first saw it. Anyway, enjoy your watch, you have the right attitude.
❤ Yesterday, I received a Steinhart Ocean Thirty-Nine Adventure! It is Sharp!! 🍻👍 On my 7.5" wrist, it is perfect! It is my first Steinhart, and I know, it won't be my last! Opening the box, if I didn't know better, I would have thought it cost $1,000+! No question!!
Thanks for posting your video! Nicely done!! Enjoy your Steinhart!!
Wear your shirt over the watch when you're at the desk.
Then adjust so its on display when away from the desk :)
Personally I stand up at least 10 times in a day, and checking every time would be a pain. Better would be having a keyboard more ergonomic, or even a sustain for the wrist, there are a lot of options at this regard
Nice video! I was thinking to buy this watch and use it only in such a special occasions, would it be okay? Thanks
Nice video, well done. Love the background music. What tune is it?
Thanks for video!
Two months ago I got my first Steinhart: an Ocean blue ceramic 39. Beautiful dresswatch-diver.
And I consider to get a black or green-black as a beater.
I understand scratches is an unavoidable thing for every watch you actually use, so it's just to accept it. But scratches from the desk? Will stainless steel be scratched by wood? 🤔
That is a fine watch there. I have the same one actually. Just one thing I'd like to mention - which may save you from scratches (a bit). Don't get me wrong - this is not criticism, just an observation. Compared to how it's supposed to fit, your bracelet is a bit too long, causing you to wear the watch too far down your wrist, it's supposed to be worn on the end of the forearm rather than the wrist, "catching" on the end of your ulna and radius bones. This prevents the watch from being moved around as you bend your wrist and prevents the crown from pushing into your skin when you move your hand "outward", and makes the watch wear/look a lot nicer. Added bonus - it keeps the watch more under/protected by your shirt's cuff, protecting it from scratching on your desk. I'd suggest making the bracelet ever so slightly shorter (most likely the micro adjust will do the trick for you). I can tell you, if you wear your watch a bit further up, it is a lot more comfortable as well, staying in the same position thoughout the day.
Why haven't you removed the plastic film from the rear of the case yet?
PortugalCarp it’s a habit I developed from trying to keep the plastic on my new cellphones as long as I possibly until it naturally falls off. Gives me some piece of mind that somewhere on the watch is still pristine.. I since removed it though
Nato straps are a great idea also new bracelet orders. Don't worry about scratches they happen keep that case pretty..
P.S Should look into Cape Cod Polishing cloths for the light scratches...works great and they sell everywhere
Those scratches on the band seem excessive. I too have a desk job and I wear my Steinhard Ocean 1 black ceramic which I've owned for several years and the only scratches it has are on the buckle which is expected but they're not too bad. Anyway, you can easily get those buffed out if they bother you. For myself, I love the watch. Even though I've had it a few years, I'm not at all tired of it. I highly recommend it.
Awesome watches
Nice job.. and I agree.. no point in babying nor abusing.. just use, and as another just wrote, some scratches on the 904 l can be polished out to at least remove some rawness. I have a few and the sapphire crystal is great.. but scratches on the clasp.. not a problem.. thanks again!
Frank in Colorado
I have a Panerai and don't baby it at all. In fact the scratches and beat up leather strap give the watch patina and character. I believe in using what I have and love my watches, life-scratches 'n' all!
«Not stop myself from doing things» and «take care of it» are mutually exclusive, until you realize you can do most, not all, the things you did before clasping it onto your wrist, only with a different set of habitual hand movements and hand placements, all of which become automated after a while of necessarily having to consciously think about them. Then, after you either THINK about them OR more or less wreck the watch, you don’t have to «stop yourself from doing (hardly any of) the things» you used to or planned to be doing.
When I retired, I spent three months backpacking around the Far East with a ceramic Ocean 1 on my wrist. The watch is still immaculate!
The bracelet hasn't a mark on it - because I mounted the watch on a NATO strap, mainly for the added security and partly so that bad people might decide that it wasn't worth stealing from me. I don't like bracelets anyway. For daily wear, it sits on a black stingray strap, which suits it perfectly.
What's your desk top made of? Wood doesn't scratch stainless.
Buy an XL mouse Mat and cover desk where your hands rest on keyboard to avoid desk scratches..
Steinhart or not..G-Shock or not..sometimes it is worth just taking the watch off depending on what you are doing..ie if you are chopping wood, doing electrical work, working on your car etc. um perhaps just take the watch off and put it in your pocket for a few minutes. It won’t kill ya..
Good stuff!
as for my experience you bet you want to babe a luxury watch, i have an omega a rolex and a tudor and i alternate wearing them on the weekends but not work and mind you i also have an office job, and by the way i also own a Steinhart gmt coke, its a hell of a watch for the money
I wear an Omega Seamaster planet ocean every day, it cost me £8000.
The scratches just add to the personality of the watch for me. I'll never sell it so all the wear and tear just add to it and give it a story.
I do also own a Steinhart Apollon. Check it out, it's a wonderful piece 👍
Own the watch, don't let the watch own you.
I wouldn't worry about the scratches... you should see my dads rolex gmt after 30 years of wearing it every day.
I would put a leather strap. Are the best good looking options always in almost every watch and if you are not a diver more reason for do that.
What's the best way to contact you?
Hi to everyone, how is accuracy of these watches?I just bought a ocean 42mm with ceramic, and still using in the box since I cannot wear so far it's late of almost 10seconds a day, is it normal?maybe it's just first period not so accurate because it need to burn in?
I switched to a leather band on my diver for the same reason. Working at my desk I was scratching up my band. I don't have this watch but I think they are all pretty much the same. You either live with them, fix them every week or take your watch off when you are working at your desk. None of that sounds good to me so a leather band works great for me.
I know what you mean sometimes I take it off but that just defeats the whole purpose so now I’ve kept it on and will live with it. Don’t plan on selling it either so might as well wear it proudly all dinged up. Could even order a new band from the manufacturer for 55 euros in 5 years or so. The leather band works too but for me I’m trying to live a more vegan lifestyle. To each their own :)
the scratches are easy to get off if they bother you. Lots of youtube videos on how to do it. I like the watch actually looking at the Ocean 1 Bronze with light brown bezel. Kind of looks old school a bit like a Tutor but I hate the hands on Tutor's. But I need another watch like I need a another whole in my head.
another way to control is to wear it in your dominant hand so you are always aware of the watch
Some watches create a harder metal that is VERY scratch resistant such as the Sinn Tegimented metals. Those watches are tough as nails and rarely develop scratches.
Nice review but you forgot to remove the protective film on the case back.
After 3 months and their is still Snow on the Ground !! I am in Muggy Florida and snow would be welcome.
I've never done it myself but i've heard of people having an extra mouse mat on their desk for their watch hand. This would prevent scratches to the bracelet.
Hey, get a Phoibos. A fraction of the price, and you can throw it out when it gets scratched. Excellent watches by Phoibos. Love them. Thanks.
Did you order from the company in Germany? The website says they're out of stock now. Did u have a similar issue and if so how long did it take you to receive the watch? Thanks in advance!
Yes I ordered off the website when it was out of stock back in September. Couple weeks later they emailed me saying my order has been processed and will be shipped shortly. Four days later it arrived at my door. Very seamless and pleasant service if you ask me.
Simply Serge
Great to hear. Thanks for the quick response. Look forward to future videos.
what size is your watch?
So how does it look now, as we speak? Do you still have it? :)
Good vidéo thank s
We all take care of our daily drivers as much as reasonable, but yeah, don't limit yourself. I bought 2 phantom 39s and they are insanely resilient. I have smashed one and not a scratch. I think this is the point of something like a steinhart. They're built to take a beating without worrying about losing your shirt. If a steiny is expensive for your budget, just be happy it's a robust watch.
I use manila folder under my watch while doing office work
Best swiss watch. Better than my rolex oyster.
I have the same watch, how is it going with the accuracy? Cool vid 🖒
I wore a similar watch for close to a decade. Granted, the aluminum insert did get scratches on it. These things are very robust.
Wear in good health. Small scratches add character and let you know you have lived life.
With this type of bracelet you have to expect this kind of wear. I too also own a sub date most days at work and it looks just like yours. Put a leather strap or a national on if you don't want scratches on the strap.
Liking your review series. I have been eying the same and finally pulled the order trigger yesterday - looking forward to get the watch in hand. Did you adjust the bracelet by yourself?
Keep up the watch related video's.
MY RIDE with M thank you very much! I had a local jewellery store do it for free for me
Simply Serge After some thinking I have ordered one as well and hope to pick it up tomorrow. Maybe I'll do a short video about it, lets see.
You mentioned that you trimmed your beard - actually I'd be curious to see how it would be a bit shorter.
Those scratches can be buffed out. But you could also consider another bracelet... one for daily wear and one for pretty. 55 Euros for another Ocean 39 bracelet like you currently have.
yes easy to buff out with 3m scotchbright pad. Polish the sides with cape cod cloth
Every watch will get few scratches . Not much we can do if you wear it everyday. Take your watch off more when you are working . Or get a few more watches. Lol. I have 6 now. Only a few were over $500 in Canada. It is a ok watch
Sir how about in 5 years of usage of your steinhart? The machine, is perfectly fine?,,,
Its a stainless steel tool watch....scratches and patina are part of its life and history. My Omega Speedie Moon watches (2) on their stainless bracelets looked much worse...the hesalite crystal were beat up too. Alot can be buffed out. Thanks for the vid. Its funny how today we have "beater" watches for daily use....back in the day we just had a watch....unless you owned a very precious metal and or jeweled dress piece
Whats the size of your wrist?
I love scratches!
Those light scratches can easily be buffed out. Nice watch.
I have mine since over one year and she runs perfect. Straight Zero 1 or 2 seconds plus a day.
Get it on
I take off mine while typing for this exact reason, and accidentally left the watch in the office a couple times as a result lol
Same. Especially because I use a MacBook that’s metal. Don’t want to scratch the watch and the laptop
Try not to worry too much about scratches. Just shown you’ve worn and enjoyed it.
Yep rotate a number of watches and save the delicate ones for long shirt days. OR buy a used decent watch that has a few scratches already and just wear it until they take it off at the mortuary.
Ca fait 2 ans que j'ai ma ocean 1 et elle n'est pas dans cet état.
Awesome watch. To be honest some little scratches on a diver / field / flieger watch give an additional value from my point of view. This is not the case for an elegant dress timepiece of course.
thanks for sharing. I have a similar attitude: I buy a watch to wear it, not for it to sit on a shelf or something. So, any watch I buy has to be "allowed" to get scratches. simples...
nice watch!
a man after my own heart .. wear the crap out of it pal "how wild can one man be"
Lol i mean i wear my Ocean One every day, and i have no scratches beside of one little. I wear it since one year every day and no scratches. I have to ask what the hell you do with your watch^^
Serge sent you a message on the backend of your channel. How’s the timekeeping? I have the same exact one (black ceramic Ocean 39). It’s about 4 seconds fast per day. Yours? Also any way to get better results? THX and take care
Why leave the sticker on the back for4? Doesn't it feel shit and itchy on skin? SS is inert against skin plastic isnt.
I've been wearing my 39 vintage red daily for a few months now. Its awesome
Is is me or did you forget to take the clear sticker off the back?
Anyone that is concerned about scratching a stainless steel watch would have to constantly remain mindful of where they place their hands at any given time. For no more than the watch costs, simply buff the scratches out periodically, and or, don’t worry about them.
I have the same watch, except the cheap brand name painted on the bezel this watch is a 10.
A little dab of Brasso on a soft cloth works miracles on stainless steel and titanium.
Don't wind the crown too much
I had issues with the crown and stem in the past. It's a flaw in the ETA 2824. Steinhart has a great warranty too.
If scratches bother you, and you are the only one that notices them, get some Cape Cod Cloth and clean 'em up.
Scratches just mean you wear the watch, they're unavailable.
The scratches can be polished out with a scotch brite but for me scratches is history. It proofs that you have been wearing it and using it. And the bezel insert and the crystal is not going to get scratched so easily because it is sapphire crystal and a ceramic bezel takes much more abuse than an aluminium bezel insert. Just wear it and live with the scratches.
