Thanks! I’m glad you enjoy the videos, sometimes I feel like the set making videos get old but y’all always seem to enjoy them. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to have enough traps to make a check day last a whole day lol
Thank you for watching the videos! I’m glad I was able to help get you into the trapping world. But congrats to you for catching one and welcome to your new addiction!!
Ive been using peat moss for years. I put it in my shed during summer so it gets hot and dries out. It will waterproof and freezeproof the trap. Completely bedded in peat and blend with dirt over top. Ive checked traps with enough rain to fill dirthole but traps dry as a bone.
First three 550s went in the ground on November 20! Used Soultaker and Riot lure on one set and Depredator with Riot on the other two. I'm using a homemade waxpaper pan cover rather than anything under it. No luck so far and everything got HEAVY rain last night. How do you deal with rain on your sets?
I actually caught that red last night after all the rain. I didn’t get off of work in time to go see how bad my sets looked after the rain. Even after almost 2 inches of rain the set functioned perfectly. I was honestly surprised. Going to go through and check the rest of the traps today after hunting this morning
@@CarolinaCoyote yeah, and you should try this out take that peat moss when it gets real cold and bed your whole trap down in it. It's what I do and I add salt to keep from freezing
Remember last year when you were making waxed dirt and you accidentally said waxed dit? And if you are using Pete moss for freeze proofing you won’t use waxed dirt or did I hear the peat moss thing wrong
@jackrose7261 ohhhh okay gotcha haha. I’m using the peat moss UNDER the pan of the trap. Instead of using pollyfill im using peat moss. I kept having gray foxes dig up the trap and pull the pollyfill out from under the trap. It was as if that was what they were after. So I’m switching it up this year to see if there’s any difference

Looking forward to the next video. 👍
Trapping in red clay should be considered a traumatic experience 😂
I absolutely agree
Good to see you out trapping bud! I can't wait to see the checks! I haven't started coyote trapping yet been chasing beavers!
How far do you space your pan from the dirt hole ?
Nice work I use dry grass under the pan of my traps it works great and the fox's doesn't dig up my Traps
What traps did you use?

Caught my 2nd coyote every but first of the year on the 13th . But if you’re using Pete moss we won’t have waxed dit
What do you mean by you won’t have waxed dirt?

Try setting some of your trips so the animal steps between the Jaws instead of over the Jaw and see if that makes any difference
