when i was a young teen this album helped me accept myself for who I am with all my flaws and weird shit (not to mention my inability to ever fit in anywhere) and everything about myself that I dont like but is a part of me nonetheless. It helped me find the confidence to become a musician of my own and to never fear being myself. its not responsible but it certainly contributed early on! Words will never be enough to describe how valuable this collection of music is to my psyche and the history of my life. i remember being 11 and falling asleep to this album so many times. the older i get, the more nostalgic about it i become. i remember back then my mother not understanding it (as most parents do with their teen kids) but nowadays, even she is listening! real substance here.
I was in elementary school when this came out. I was given this from a kid on my bus who said it didn't work. I put it in my cd player that same bus ride and found that "track 13" was where the album started and the first 12 were recorded silence. Unbelievable score, I thought at the time, as I wasn't allowed to listen to a lot of music. Hell yes

This album artwork inspired my painting and artwork so much when I was growing up. When i finally got my hands on a Bass guitar, it definitely inspired again. Of course Ill never have that tone that Fieldy has, but I love to play along to these early albums up to Take a Look in the Mirror. Those of us that grew up with Korn on the player are definitely are a different breed, and we welcome all those new to Korn as well!

When I first heard Korn, it was about a year or so before their first album came out. They were featured in a magazine cd sampler called CMJ. There were two songs Blind and Shoots and Ladders I believe. I thought they had potential. I played it for my friends ejo were into grunge and nu-metal. Fast forward to 1995 In a different town and walked into a pawn shop. There I found two albums that spoke to me: Failure Magnafied and Korn the Debut album. I took it home and to be honest it was ok but not really blowing me away. At the time I was already listening to Deftones too. I still saw potential. The second album comes out and I buy it the month it comes out with huge hopes. To be honest it didn't really blow me away either. But I still thought they were going to be huge. Then, 1999. I'm member of Columbia House Monthly alternative. I open the cd package thinking I'll probably send it back. I had only kept one cd, a Sarah McGlofflane cd. I see it's Korn again. I'm skeptical and put it in my computer's CD rom drive. Instantly I am blown away. I listen to the album over and over again for days. For months. Blasting it in my car. And years go by. Korn is the best band in the nation. The leading request on MTV when they played music. Issues and Untouchables. They transformed music.
I remember getting this cd when I was younger and I was so confused about why it started counting upwards, thinking that the cd player was broken lol, learnt years later that it wasn't actually broken and it was just the korn guys who didn't like the idea that the album would have ended on the thirteenth track so they started the album on that track instead
I forget how old I was when this album came out, but, I remember being maybe 6 or 7 always jamming out to this with my best friend and always loving this album and KoRn. Ever since then I've cherished this music. They're my #1 favorite band of all time always. 💚 Issues will always be my favorite album.
I spent so so many days sitting outside after school with my CD player plugged in and this album (a long with every other one of theirs) playing so loud the whole entire street could hear it. JD and his raw emotion captivated me back then and still does ..I'm now 40. Holy shit
Been listening to Korn for 14 years. Just took my daughter to their show last month. Her first concert, got her a shirt with this album cover on it. She took her school spring pictures in that shirt 💖 we love Korn so much!!! 😊😊
Absolutely my favorite album, my CD got stoled so I got the vinyl… And every time I put to play I feels like in that old times again, never feel so good for a "step back in life”
Music is such an amazing tool to do that with. Any time I listen to albums I used to jam I am instantly transported back to that time, I'm in love with the nostalgia lol
Wowza. I couldn't even fathom this on vinyl. Aside from your album getting stolen, which sucks, I know, you sir, are very lucky to experience this on vinyl. If jealous was a color, I'm just white 😂
Its Nov 2021 and I can still listen to this album ALL THE WAY thru without skipping even an intro. Kno y? Bcuz this was when u got your fuckin moneys worth out of music. Korn is timeless.
Resumed the video after getting home. It blasted the intro to Got The Life at max volume and scared the shit out of me. Not a bad thing to be startled by. Love Korn
I couldn't enjoy this type of music as a younger metal head but for some reason in my 28 it's the ideal time to get into Korn. This album takes the cake so far even tho Issues is pretty legendary too
So i was 15 when this album came up and i bought it brand new. The thing is, when i got home i put in the stereo right away and i was so sad... there was no music!!! and every 5 second step the next track with any sound whatsoever, and i was like wtf!?!??! So i told my father hey lets get another record this one is busted, something is wrong with it... my father was like "Pero qué mierda??? cómo? qué le hiciste??" We got to the store, and the guy explained us "No no no, the music start in the track 13, you see? here it is «49 seconds of silence courtesy of Korn»" I felt so stupid xD Didn't know that much english back then so... still best album ever
I remember back when I was a teen in middle school... use to hang out in friends backyard on the weekends... listening to this album and other ICP albums full blast while jumping up on the trampoline. then we would play either THPS on PS1 or Goldeneye on the N64 and order Pizza Hut and also get PS1 playable demos from them. Man... them were the days and miss it. I grew up with Korn, Limp bizkit, ICP, and smashing pumpkins and glad that I had lots of friends back in middle school because I could experience all these incredible bands and music!
After this album JD's vocal style changed (I think I saw a documentary that talked about him taking vocal lessons to preserve his voice) but the first 3 albums were my favorite because of his style.
They all had to do talent rehab. JD had a voice coach. Munky and Head had to get regular physio stretching from all the positions they put their bodies through on stage. It's not a bad thing, it happens when we get older.
when I was 15 this Korn Album and DMX's It's dark and hell is hot n Flesh of my flesh Albums was I listened to all day. I know alot of ppl won't understand because its quite different music to most but they both spoke to me. lol I'm 39 now and I still love them both
It’s not as different as you’d think. DMX is what I would consider to be more “heavy metal” type rap with guys like Onyx and Mash Out Posse (M.O.P.). Even if you venture into the underground a little more with bands like Jedi Mind Tricks/La Coka Nostra there’s a lot of Heavy Metal appeal/guys in the crowds/people slam dancing. Onyx was notorious for slam dancing in the early 90s with their h it SLAM. He’s one of the few acts who played Woodstock 99 and had that sea of white people MOSHING their asses off. Aggressive styles were far more common in the 90s, but Puff Daddy and Bad Boy Records were also starting to cross over with R&B artists more and more at the time.
The reason I stopped on this comment though, is because what you said resonated with me a lot. I was really trying to figure out myself at the time and knew I loved the music my parents hated: Korn, Limp Bizkit, DMX. If it wasn’t for DMX I’m not sure where my tastes would have gone. But this Korn album is incredibly funky and Nu-Metal borrowed so much from the culture that it was an easy transition with both. What a special time for music, even though it’s marred by horrible stylistic choices lol
Back inthe 90s I was the only one that liked this I fully remember at bush parties people boo'd and I laughed and cranked it. Now I know they are looking back saying they loved it. Liars
Oh, I'm for certain in a much worse way now than I was then, but KoRn is still here with me and for me as I stroll through the darkness yet again....... Good times, HAILS to KoRn🤘🤘
Haven't seen anyone else mention it so I will, anyone else remember how the first 13 tracks were blank? God me and my cousin used to jam out to this sharing a pair of Walkman headphones in the back of my gmas Buick hahaha God Korn has a ton of nostalgia for me.
I remember in high school, I was collecting all of Korns albums. This was the hardest one to find 😅 every CD store I went to, no luck..was this close to getting it on Amazon before I went to a restaurant with my family in Marina Del Ray and there was a Barnes and noble next door. They wouldn't let me go in, so I lied and said I was going to the bathroom and ran as fast as I could next door and went straight to the cds and found it..😂 I was so happy, I had it in my back pocket in my jeans and ran back and acted like nothing happened hahaha. I felt complete that day. This album took me FOREVER to find lol the good ol days of collecting cds

This only thing I've to say : it lacks the one minute blank for the kid who died and for who they made this minute. It's a part of this album.
Forever ingrained in my formative years. The pain of growing up and the power of youth, we were industructible
I swear when you listen to Johnathan with earphones it's so raw, and its like he's screaming right in your face! 🤘
I'm stuck in the house often, and this really helps. Thanks.
IT'S ON!!! that's how u start an album 🤘🤘🤘
Its Nov 2021 and I can still listen to this album ALL THE WAY thru without skipping even an intro. Kno y? Bcuz this was when u got your fuckin moneys worth out of music. Korn is timeless.
You'd think you would have learned to spell some basic words in all that time!
isn't it? me too.
@@nash0089 like Korn 👍 😂
freak on a leash into got the life will always be one of the best things. just generally. ever.
KoRns Bass always blew my head off... ♥
i was born in 86 i experienced this in 7th grade in my friends basement. bro good times
Resumed the video after getting home. It blasted the intro to Got The Life at max volume and scared the shit out of me. Not a bad thing to be startled by. Love Korn
It's a good start for Korn music
Korn was a gift to us
i thank my UA-cam playlist that randomly played Korn for me one day, love them now! Great music!
Hits a little different knowing there's no going back.
24 years later this is still my all time favorite Korn song
geez has it really been 24 years? I feel super old
Which one?
This band reminds me of "MAWE" a friend from high school. Now he's married and still listening to Korn.
I was 13 when i moved to a new place and a new friend put the first Korn album in my cd player. It changed my life
I was a teen. So many memories. I love this one.
I couldn't enjoy this type of music as a younger metal head but for some reason in my 28 it's the ideal time to get into Korn.
This album takes the cake so far even tho Issues is pretty legendary too
Im 36 when I was 16 this freakin me out! I love all the songs! I even drunk a cough syrup to feel the music.hahaha
My favorite album growing up, Cheers 🤟☠🤟
Yo tengo tantas anécdotas de adolescencia con este álbum que no me cabrían todas aquí!
So i was 15 when this album came up and i bought it brand new. The thing is, when i got home i put in the stereo right away and i was so sad... there was no music!!! and every 5 second step the next track with any sound whatsoever, and i was like wtf!?!??!
So i told my father hey lets get another record this one is busted, something is wrong with it... my father was like "Pero qué mierda??? cómo? qué le hiciste??"
We got to the store, and the guy explained us "No no no, the music start in the track 13, you see? here it is «49 seconds of silence courtesy of Korn»" I felt so stupid xD
Didn't know that much english back then so... still best album ever
And back in 1978 when the first the cars album dropped it didnt havve 12 tracks of silence
I was a 2-14 when I was randomly making different purchases for my enjoyment for the hell of I for fun to me.
Korn changed everything when I was in High school. Skater look took over
Recordando mi epoca como musico en la etapa de la preparatoria en la CDMX tengo ahora 41 años y me sigue gustando la mejor musica de todos los tiempos
Every morning, get on the bus, turn on the Walkman and skip to track 13. 👌
My GOSH ! GENEVIEVE!! !! !! SO many memories....I miss your laughter and ❤
As a child I listened to this cd more then you even listened to anything
One of the albums that started playing after setting up the box TV and old xbox at a friends house for LAN party halo sleepovers. Good times.
This album is badass AF
I haven't heard these bonus songs before! 🤘
This is the album I distinctly remember the most when I think of these guys
After this album JD's vocal style changed (I think I saw a documentary that talked about him taking vocal lessons to preserve his voice) but the first 3 albums were my favorite because of his style.
Yep he took lessons during issues
His style & scale is just out there omg your right
They all had to do talent rehab. JD had a voice coach. Munky and Head had to get regular physio stretching from all the positions they put their bodies through on stage. It's not a bad thing, it happens when we get older.
Escuchando LA BANDA desde NYC🇺🇸
Korn still speaks from my soul. Theyve been a part of me for 23 years
Same for me as well!, 23 yr love affair. 🤘🤘🎸🥁🎸🔥
🎤🔥 as well.... Davis is a beast
never feeling more than while listening to this album, like all the locks are pierced by the rage inherent, leading to the peace in my heart

when I was 15 this Korn Album and DMX's It's dark and hell is hot n Flesh of my flesh Albums was I listened to all day.
I remember picking up the album at Sam Goody..🤙🖤
The vibe is gold😊
Freak on a leash is freaking insane
The whole album is freaking insane dude i love it!!

Back inthe 90s I was the only one that liked this I fully remember at bush parties people boo'd and I laughed and cranked it. Now I know they are looking back saying they loved it. Liars
I'm damn near 32 and Got the Life still hits the same way it did as the first time I heard it when I was 13.
I swear I'm in a way better place.
Bro, I got back after ?? Years and when I first heard the hook i got chills.
This was the rock that got me into hip hop. For real!
This was the shit on my early 20s. Driving in the mountains in my sports car... raging!
It’s between this and untouchables for me.
