damn seeing all these trails makes me pray for spring to hurry up! I may not mountain bike, but my horse and i understand the joy of trails like that (Minus the big rocks because metal shoes + rock = slipping)
Beautiful ride. It's breath taking lol Little bumps n bruises meh. Ya got up and kept going. 💪💯I'm really happy that ya enjoyed and gained more confidence. We could tell lol Have A Blessed Day 😇
I like how for your first stumble you chose a spot right next to a MASSIVE clump of brambles! Could have ended worse.... ;) Nice tracks you have round that area, certainly seems very bike friendly up there.
Wow!! love it!!!! but those were not crashes! Just a few bumps on the road! Soon you'll be in sync with your bike and balance. you are improving really quickly!!!
I’m lucky enough to live across the road from parkwood. My advice for riding the narrow rock wall is hit it with speed from the top of the slope before it and free wheel over it. Same for the rocky stream be brave and hit it fast, very fast and coast up the on the other side
I'm not so comfortable with low speed technical yet... but getting there. What's even funnier is I've been riding for the last 3 months with broken seals in my rear shock... Got it serviced and now the back end is a lot more stable and less squishy... will try to hit those at more speed in the future!
Try this at 5:37. Get into a gear so that you're "Spinning." Basically pedaling fast but not going fast. As long as you are pedaling your center of gravity will be low, near the crank set. When you get to the narrow rock wall Loft your front tire on to the rocks and as your rear tire reaches the rocks shift your weight forward off the set. This will reduce weight on the back tire making it easier to get it up on to the rocks. When you're up there sit back down and pedal through to the other side. Remember to keep pedaling so your center of gravity stays low.
I was standing for the whole thing, not in the saddle. I managed to get the front up, but not the rear, i wasnt moving forward enough like you say to lift it... im still geting to grips with my balence... spinning more might help, you're right, thanks :)
Appreciate it! I'm using these videos as a vlog of my journey of sorts... from rock bottom to rock garden! XD Hopefully one day I will be sending it with the big kids and hitting up some of the tracks the UCI downhill goes to (one can hope) but for now, I'm focusing on core skills. I'm seeing benefits every time i ride because my goals are small... and i set realistic progress.
The more you ride the more your skills and confidence will improve, like you said at the beginning of the video. You'll be doing stair descents in no time. One thing I can add to help with safety. Part of my class was teaching students to learn how to fall. If you ride a bike you're going to fall sooner or later. In general if you fall try to overcome your body's natural instinct to want to reach out and catch yourself with the hand. That can lead to broken fingers, arms along with shoulder injuries. If your stationary and fall to the side, like in the video, keep your hands on the grips and move the handlebars outward towards the ground. As you reach the ground let the end of the bar hit first so it will take some of the force out of the fall. Then your body will hit the ground with less force. Learn what can make you fall so you can avoid it. Surface hazards such as small sticks, leaves or lose gravel can cause the front tire to lose traction. In a turn those things can cause the front tire to slid out from under you. If you can't avoid something then lift your front tire over it and let the back tire roll over it. I may be telling you stuff you already know.
Standing while riding is not a problem. When you reach bumps or rocks you can Stand up. That makes it easier to shift your weight back and forth over the tires. And it's easier on the backside. Lol. Sometimes you can use mechanics of the bike easier if you sit. That's another study in itself.
These are more all weather built trails here for use rather than more natural stuff out in the mountains which we have also... however less rock and loose gravel here unless you get up into Scotland... all weather trails are a bit nicer when its soggy here... it rains a lot!
Absolutly... I am indeed. Honestly, this trail was 10 times easier than the last time I came here... and Its only been perhaps two months. I'm getting to the point where small drops are easy, though as you saw some still sketch me in sucession. Rock gardens are meh now... I rather like them. Building more speed... still getting used to letting the bike move fully under me.
Do firekitten live in the uk ? Bc I’m literally like 25 miles from Sheffield i live near Manchester basically over the hill 55 minutes away in a small town called Glossop
It really does look slower than it would feel, coz I've ridden some crazier shit than this and when I watch back my camera recording it looks slow as fuck
yeah right? And the depth of stuff looks so shallow on Gopro XD Admittedly I am 'fairly' slow. But it wasn't THAT slow. I'm gaining confidence to the point where last time I was here, I could barely hang on, now, I'm pedaling in flat spots :D
The first skill I tell the young slugs at the skateboard park or new people in the backwoods trail bike riding is the most important rule of all... LEARN HOW TO TUCK & ROLL WHEN CRASHING AT A SLOW SPEED AND REMEMBERING WHAT & HOW YOU DID IT WITH MILD INJURY...! SO NEXT TIME YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU TAKE A FACE DIGGER DIRT NAP OR SLAM HARD GETTING TWISTED IN THE BIKE FRAME AS YOUR FLIPPING...! ALL YOUR FEAR IS GONE AND YOU HAVE PROGRESSED ON A NEW LINE WITH HIGHER SPEEDS & JUMPS WITH DOUBLE THE EXCITEMENT AND NOT ONE TIME YOU WORRIED ABOUT TAKING THAT MASSIVE DIGGER YOU KNOW WILL HAPPEN AGAIN & AGAIN THE MORE YOU RIDE....! BADASS GIRLY
TofflarN quit asking, she’s said it makes her uncomfortable and makes her want to do it less. Just enjoy her videos. Also check her Twitter if you’re that concerned. Jesus, man!
Yeah we do... We just don't let people in because they stream. We want a community. Not a business platform. When it comes to my stuff, community first yt second.
Oh, I never knew, here, message me tomorrow when you're online, probably discord, although we've got the replacement teamspeak, and maybe I can see what requirements you hold.
I always try to reply to questions :) In all seriousness, I just don't feel comfortable with the idea 'yet' perhaps one day. For now, I'd rather let my content speak, rather than get judged as 'attractive' or 'ugly' and have that take primary focus over what I make.
“Excessive Canada” but but but we like you, Kitten 😩 😂
Every time you fall of your bike it reminds me of how I ride from school to home with my friends.
Wooowww. First-person in ACDCrp looks incredibly realistic!
lol
Way to go Firekitten! Doing great girl!👍🏾🇺🇬🇺🇸
damn seeing all these trails makes me pray for spring to hurry up! I may not mountain bike, but my horse and i understand the joy of trails like that (Minus the big rocks because metal shoes + rock = slipping)
Im so surprised with how much this looks like the woods/ terrain here in New York! More real-life videos please!
Beautiful ride. It's breath taking lol Little bumps n bruises meh. Ya got up and kept going. 💪💯I'm really happy that ya enjoyed and gained more confidence. We could tell lol

Great video firekitten.

I like the video. Something different and very enjoyable. Great video keep it up. (:
Wow!! love it!!!! but those were not crashes! Just a few bumps on the road! Soon you'll be in sync with your bike and balance. you are improving really quickly!!!
this was the video that inspired me to start MTB because it looked fun and now i know in is fun but painful
You should go to rother valley. Theres a decent slope under the teain tracks wich is pretty fun
That looks like a lot of fun
I saw you fall again I was like holy @##@ but then I heard you laughing so I'm glad you wernt hurt
You know this was nice, something different from the regular vids

Any time. I was a police mountain bike instructor. Hit me up if you have any questions. I need to get off my lazy ass and get back on a bike.

Just curious any idea where that is? because that place is marvelous and breathtaking and might be a fun place for me to do some running.
I think I might have an idea lol. It's as the description says. Parkwood springs... Sheffield. I think I say it in the video too once or twice.
A vlog from the beautiful firekitten :D

Kinda jealous of y'all's trails. Everything we have here in TX is cross country unless you're in Palo Duro (loads of fun, very hot) or Big Bend.
Face reveal would be pretty early IK Firekitten will grow huge i believe in her
Trust me Firekiittin a Mountain bike can ride on grass, road, hills. But a racebike uhhhh not to shure but great vidio.😉
Uh
Who said anything about a road racing bike? Mountain bikes race too... this one is an Enduro category bike...
I tend to use slightly bigger tires and lower gears to go alot faster but that's because i like to go sonic speed
I'm running Conti 2.4 wides :P They're wide, the bike is capable... I'm not :P
Firekitten just got to keep learning
Firekitten the more you put in the more you get out

How to get demonetized on youtube 101 -> Swear lots! :P
Surprisingly it's fine on this... if I make a GTA video... boom. Demonetized. Swearing or not.
Aha', youtube is confusing, thats' why I stream now. unfortunately ac/dc dont do streamers though :c
Yeah we do... We just don't let people in because they stream. We want a community. Not a business platform. When it comes to my stuff, community first yt second.

Right, it wasn't clear that you were already a member :P We'll talk.
Why don't you show your face (love the videos)
Because I don't feel comfortable doing so.
