Cheers Tony.I created the routine to demo the ON OFF BOX. A couple of comments saying it is too long. I probably could have cut the newspaper prediction and shortened it to a card match effect. UA-cam attention spans are getting shorter and shorter 🤣🤣🤣 The magazine prediction is by Martin Breese RIP
Thanks Tim 😄 It's not a routine I perform as part of my normal day to day magic I put it together to demo the ON OFF box It's come in for a bit criticism. I've taken on some of the comments and plan to do another video. Hopefully it will show new magicians how a routine can evolve and improve over time.😄👍👍👍👍
There is no real motivation to put a card in a box, only to pull it out later. A good motivation would be something like "People think I'm going to use sleight of hand and do something sneaky with this card. So, to be fair, I'm going to lock it in this box and I will get you (name of spectator) to hold the box in YOUR hands, the entire time" For your blank deck routine, I think a z-wallet or himber would be a little more organic than the box (yes, I know you are demoing the box & all)
Point taken. There are loads of alternative ways I could have sw****ed the card including slight of hand or a wallet but the the demo was for the box. I agree that any prop needs a justification and should have done that. This isn't a routine I would normally do and isn't helped by the fact their isn't a live audience. Thanks for the comment really appreciate you taking the time to do so Graham 👍
Thanks mate. This is a routine I created to demo the box and not an actual routine I do. I have taken on board some of the comments regarding the handling of the box, length of the video, justification of the box and am planning to revisit the routine and record a further video showing the evolution of the routine. Hopefully this will be useful for magi new to magic 😀 Graham 👍👍👍👍👍
As you explained in your intro, I took it for what it was, a demo of the possibilities of the utility. Just my opinion but I think criticisms of the “routine” are overly harsh.
Thanks mate really appreciate your support 👍👍👍👍👍 Were you familiar with the the newspaper prediction❓ It's Martin Breese's take on the old Koran effect that doesn't require you know the number before the tear and the pieces can be mixed. 👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Graham, Out of curiosity I would have liked to see the box `handling` like you do. It is a natural part of the routine and not a reveal of the trick. (Every magician should be familiar with this classic from the first magic box he had as a child.) Your performance and the effect were otherwise great. As others have commented, just shorten it a bit. Then it's definitely a great mental trick! By the way, I had already used the ON-OFF box a few times for B'wave and it is perfect for that! I can highly recommend it. It allows you to use regular queens instead of the ♥/♦ and also eliminates the need for an equivogue. But the very best thing is that the respective queen can actually be shown freely at the end and can even be given away as a souvenir! I personally think both are really great. What is also positive is the fact that handling the box is only necessary with one queen... and with the other, the box no longer needs to be touched at all. I think it's a nice alternative to classic B'wave. Instead of the ON-OFF box, I previously did it with a Z-wallt (Btw. I use and highly recommend the great Uday Swap Wallet) But the ON-OFF box is so beautiful and decorative! At the beginning of the routine, I simply present it as an 'innocent' storage box for a deck of cards. By the way, in my opinion, I have a really great way of handling the box. I've never been caught using it, even when there were several spectators present. But I don't know if I can share the handling here. That's why I'll leave it for now. Cheers! 🍀🍀🍀🍀
Thanks for your amazing comment Rolf. It's difficult judging how to perform an effect on UA-cam as a video. There is no real audience reaction and what would normally pass as a reasonable length can seem overly long I toyed with doing the move on camera but decided against it as I felt that would have come in for criticism. I love your B-wave idea for the box It's a beautiful prop and is very versatile. Check this other experimental routine out using another TCC prop and a different kind of box. Love your thoughts: ua-cam.com/video/3QY4zhVVo8o/v-deo.htmlsi=ZMuEwUot-_H_HZHJ
“I toyed with doing the move on camera but decided against it as I felt that would have come in for criticism.“ Yes Graham, I can definitely understand that. It's a shame, I would have liked to see your move to the ON-OFF box. As I wrote before, I developed my own and without wanting to pat myself on the back, I would say it's really great. I planned to share the move with you and others on your channel. But for a very similar reason to yours, I let it go. Not because I was worried anyone wouldn't like the move, but because of the reveal itself. Btw. I'm glad that you - and perhaps others too, like my B'wave version with the regular queens 😃I would be curious to know whether you will do this version in the future with the ON-OFF box or with a Z-Wallet? (As already mentioned, the Uday Swap Wallet is absolutely brilliant because it's incredibly thin, inexpensive and beautifully made.) Believe me, it's very convincing when you can actually show the queen openly and, on top of that, it's great to give it away as a souvenir 😃
If you recorded a video of the move and upload the video to your UA-cam channel you can put it as unlisted. You can then share the link with anyone you wish to view the video but it is not available for the public to view. He is a use for a z fold I think you might like ua-cam.com/video/_7jVhHZqXng/v-deo.html
I agree it was a bit too long. I put it together to demo the ON OFF Box. I should have left the magazine prediction out and just had it as a card match effect to make it more suitable for UA-cam👍
Hello friend,
A magnificent routine, with a diabolical finale
Thank you for this beautiful magical moment
Cheers mate 👍👍👍👍👍

Loved the magazine prediction at the end.

Great demo of the product, Graham. I think the magazine bit was very enjoyable. 👍
Thanks Tim 😄

Graham, good demo on using the On Off Box utility. Lot's of possibilities for creative magi's.

Yes as you and I have previously talked about that effect in general terms but it is not something I have actually tried myself.
I will massage you the method mate as it doesn't require manipulation of the force piece 👍👍👍👍👍
Excellent!!
Cheers mate 👍👍👍👍👍

Although I liked the finale, the routine was too long-winded & convoluted.

Boring....not their best..!!
Thanks for the comment
I created the routine to demo the ON OFF box.
Think I will cut the newspaper predictions and shorten the video
😇 keep up the good work 👍
Cheers 👍👍👍👍👍
This is a brilliant piece of magic Graham well done buddy 👍😊👍🎉🪄😊👍👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌
Thanks Robert 👍
It's not a regular routine I do I just created it to showcase the on off box 👍👍👍👍👍
