Nice, Looked at a new Straggler yesterday, at the $1700 price, just too many items needed to get to reliable level for commuting. It's a shame, a flat bar version isn't offered from the factory.
In our experience most of the complete builds from Surly are just not worth it... at least in Europe where the price is significantly higher. That's also one of the reasons why we build most of them from scratch as the frames are really good.
Does it bother anyone else that a lot of the builds go all out on some components like Chris King and then spend nothing on avid brakes? Shimano hydraulic brakes are inexpensive and amazing
A lot of people prefer mechanical disc brakes and for the price you pay the Avid mechanical callipers deliver the most. They are extremely easy to set up and maintain, which is what most people are looking for and combined with compressionless cable housing offer more than enough braking power. We're more than happy to set up the bike with hydraulic brakes though,...whatever the customer wants :)
Love this shop in Atl! Bought my Straggler from them! Always the best service!!
That’s badass , was considering the cross check but this video gave inspiration to get a straggler caramel & build up , thanks
Thanks! Good luck with the build :)
Fancy commuter bike for sure 😀

Really great build! What brand and spec. Wheels did you use?
Thanks! The wheels are made by XLC. It’s their lightweight 29” wheelset with a HG driver and 6-bolt hubs. Great quality for a relatively low price 👌🏻
Nice :)
Thanks 😁
What the name/brand of the handlebars?
That's the BLB Big Smoke handlebar... we absolutely love it!
