The song is about the story in Mathew 19:16. Jesus counsels a rich young ruler who had kept all the commandments. His quest to follow Jesus comes with a hefty price of having to sell all his possessions. He however walks away in sorrow because it was a heavy price he wasn't willing to give up.
In our lives, is there something you can't give up and take on the cross? Are you burdened by material things and sin that you can't turn to Jesus? Is there anything more worth than Jesus having to shed his blood on the cross for you and me to get salvation?
