QD: my first 1/2 marathon race this past Saturday. Set a goal for 1:40-1:44 to complete. Finished 1:39:08 on a course with a lot of turns and hills in Medina, Ohio.
Had a great Memorial Day 5k. Set a new PR 18:32. At the ripe old age of 55. I did it with the help of the dgr community. All the hill workout, track days, stretching, gym days all paid off. Keep up the good work!
This weekend I raced a 5k and I got 5th overall and first in my age group of a time of 20:33. I also received an apple 🍎 pie 🥧 for being the top 20 finishers. Great Vlog Seth, glad to see you back running.
The Boulder Boulder is such a great race on such a great weekend. Thanks for capturing all the great footage.
QD: I ran the Bryce Canyon 50k this weekend. I won the race by 52 minutes and got to enjoy the beauty of the area! This was my first Ultramarathon Victory as well!
Fantastic! Cow bell!
QOD- I did not race this weekend, but I did do 7 stroller miles with my Mini-Me.
Cliff note version of my story. 6 and a half years ago my best friend passed away from a massive stroke. At that point I took my physical wellbeing into my own hands. I started running at nearly 250 lbs. I couldn't run more than a quarter of a mile without nearly dying. That June i stopped smoking and that July 4th was my first race, a 4 miler. Now today I've lost over 60 lbs, ran 13 half marathons, and training for my first full road, full trail, and first ultra. Losing my friend has become a blessing to my own health.
Thanks for your inspiring daily Vlogs, you help me keep moving on the daily.
Qd: ran my first marathon this weekend in Ottawa Canada. Was a very hot day and I’m just glad that I finished, as a lot of people dropped out due to the heat. Glad to have finished and now get to rest up before I figure out what fall race I want to sign up for
I ran the 5K and it was still so hot! Felt like I was going to faint a few times and had to take it easier. Good job on finishing!
It was great to participate in this year's Bolder Boulder. Wonderful event. If you haven't yet been a participant, you're missing out on a great experience. I was able to shave over 3-minutes off my 2019 time, and finished 2nd in my 55-year age group with a 42:09. Everything just clicked yesterday.
Seth, looking forward to September when I can yell out to you "butter that bread" like I did at the 2020 Pikes Peak Marathon.
Nice meeting you Seth!!
QD: Raced the Bolder Boulder 10k. First time doing it. Mile 3 chewed me up and spit me out.
Hey Seth! Thank you for the comments at the start of this video in regards to Memorial Day. It can never be said enough the meaning of this Holiday is not about having BBQs. I am a service member in the Army currently stationed abroad in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. On memorial day, over 1 thousand Soldiers took part in the Memorial Day 5K race (pics on my strava page). I ran in honor of SSG Rodriguez and SGT Reyes who were killed in Afghanistan in 2012. These were two of my Soldiers that never made it home, leaving their wives and kids to pick up the pieces. Their sacrifice and courage will not be forgotten.
42nd Cotton Row Run in Huntsville AL.
This is my 5th year but there were 6 runners ran all 42 years honoring those who gave all for our freedom! Respect!
Ran my first half marathon this weekend. 1:50 , made my goal of sub 2h. Looking forward to doing more in the future
Beautiful! One way or another...Seth is a Rollin! Beautiful scenery and nice Pace folks~
Past Saturday was my 2nd half maraton, with 423m elevation gain. 1:38:05. Absolute: 10th. Age group: 4th. Greetings from Hungary (Europe)
QD: Hi Seth. On Sunday I ran my very first trail race. It was quite short one. I managed to do 2K and 320m of vertical in 15:36, which was enough for a win. I was really happy to win my first ever trail race. :) Greetings from Slovenia!
QD Ran the Virtual Monumental Mile and PR’d by 12.2 seconds (at age 67). Grateful to be running and for the freedom to run. Thx for beautiful vlog!
Thank you Seth for acknowledging Memorial Day. The proudest thing of my life has been serving in the Marine Corps from Jun74 to Jun78. Great coverage on the race!
Qd. I had two this weekend. On Saturday I ran the Black Moshannon 10k, which is a difficult fairly hilly 10k at a local State Park. Then I ran a 3.8 mile race in Boalsburg, PA, the birthplace of the first Memorial Day. That's an old race too, which I assume is why it's at such an odd distance. So about 10 miles of racing for me on this long weekend.
nice coverage Seth! feeble ilg was honored to be the first person ever to ride/run a Kick Bike (aka; Amish Scooter, Push Bike, etc...it has two wheels but no pedals) from Durango to Silverton (50 miles, 5,800' vert, over two 10,000' passes) during the 50th Anniversary of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic! I got soooooo much love along the race route! And the final mile finish in Silverton was crazy with spectators and I got so many great cheers and high fives!
I remember being in that first Bolder Boulder in '79! I was going into my senior year of HS at Fairview and Roger Briggs our XC Coach suggested we support the race because the race organizers didn't know if anyone was going to show up! 🙂 There were maybe 30-40 participants. I don't know what happened to my race t-shirt, it was gray with black lettering. Oh, and the entry fee was $15 i believe, cuz my parents said that was "way too expensive just to run around town, you do that all the time for free anyway!" 😂 i recall the first time they switched the finish to the CU Stadium, that was crazy cool. Love from Durango!
QD: I ran BolderBoulder for the 1st time yesterday and happily finished 3rd in my age division. I was intimidated by the net uphill, high elevation course so had modest expectations, but BB displays records of the top 20 finishers in the race’s history for each age, and if I calculated correctly I’ll be #11 once they update it! It’s amazing how what started as a humble local 10K has evolved into such a major event, including the international elite race. The Memorial Day ceremony afterward was touching, but another very moving moment was one of two Ukrainian elite women carrying the Ukrainian flag around the field to the finish. Martha
Amazing! I’m shooting for Top 10 for my age next year.
@@RunningOtaku Are you local? Good luck! I’m not sure we’ll still be living in CO next year but I’m so glad I experienced BB. I’d been hearing about it for years.
Congrats @Martha 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Ran the Bolder Boulder yesterday. Was a progression with each mile faster than the last. IMO too much is made on it being net uphill. Embrace the struggle. Rang that PR bell earning a Sub 40 T shirt. What a beautiful day for running!
I wish to say Thank You DGR for your amazing footage of the Race and more especially for your support of the men and women who are wearing or have worn the uniform. I too make the daily work of wearing the uniform. It’s not good being on foreign soil and not knowing if you will live to see your family. I Salute 🫡 You My DGR Family.
COMMENT OF THE DAY!!!
Fifth! Thank God for our men and women in Uniform. We sleep well at night because there are people like them who are willing to do the things we aren’t.
Ran the Calgary half marathon In the Altra escalante racer and landed a Personal best in under 2 hours. I was pretty happy! Wore my DGR shirt with pride!
Like a few others I ran the Ottawa marathon on Sunday. It was my first in-person marathon and we had a beautiful day for it. I was on pace to go sub-3 for about the first 30km, then my body started to slow down. Still finished with a PR of 3:07!
Lol, I also ran a 3:07 PR in Ottawa last weekend
QD: 14 year old colorado resident, raced BOLDER BOULDER 10k this weekend and finished second in my age group in a time of 38:44. It was my first ever 10k and it was a great experience, got out hard but pushed on mile 4 and that’s what made my race.
Got Covid 6 days before the Boston Marathon, so I held back and raced Miles on the Mohawk Marathon in Schenectady, NY this weekend instead. It was hot but I was able to PR by about 8 minutes and snag 4th overall. It was nice to see that the fitness built over those winter months finally paid off late in the spring!
QD: I actually ran BB 10K. Came extremely off of my goal time of sub 34 because I got put in the back wave. Coming from Houston,TX I knew the altitude would play a factor but I was mentally ready to rock and roll. It was super hard weaving through thousands of bodies.
Be sure to get into a qualification wave next time. That’s so frustrating, but with a time goal like that in sight, you’d surely qualify from something for an early wave.
Ran a marathon this past Sunday, Midvaal Marathon here in Johannesburg, South Africa. Goal was sub 3:45 but ended with a 3:49, things started to fall apart at the 30K mark but sort of salvaged my run at 35k and came back stronger from that point and that made me happy. Plus its a PB so its a win!
I have a race this Saturday, 25k hill run. First individual race since 2018 (not pandemic related)
QD: My fiancée and I were meant to run our first Marathon at Edinburgh last weekend, in the memory of my fiancée's dad who passed in October last year. By a twist of fate we had to cancel our trip to Scotland and thus the Marathon as my fiancée had to be admitted to hospital the day before our flight to Edinburgh for surgery. After 4 months of hard training I decided I would still run this Marahton virtually on my own on the port of Piraeus, Greece where we live. Did it zigaging through dense ferries' traffic in 3'54'50 after 4 hours sleep, under an average temperature of 24°C (73 F), finishing the last 5k without any water left in the hydration vest. It was one of my toughest physical and mental battle ever but embraced the pain and am so proud I did it considering the context
Glad you are back running, Seth! Great video as always.
I was watching the live stream of the race and was wondering who the guy in the bicycle was 😅
Awesome vlog Seth! I'm glad you are sharing the magic of Bolder Boulder with the rest of the world. QD: I ran the Bolder Boulder yesterday and was proud to finally earn the Sub-40 shirt! I never knew the shirt was a thing until 2019 when it missed it by only five seconds. I made sure that wouldn't be the case this time as I finished with a time of 37:16.
Need to make it out to the Boulder Boulder 10k one year soon!
QOD: raced my first half marathon this past Sunday in Buffalo NY. Chip time of 1:37:50 for 118 place out of 2355 runners. Weather was great, course was great, I felt great and the atmosphere was awesome! Highly recommend this event for anyone looking for a fast course with outstanding energy!
good job seth, great mix of footage
The Nike invincible song was played!
I remember that vlog of you running a few years back! Still here
Hi Seth! From your video yesterday on the ASICS Noosa 14’s…Just a heads up that the Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 are on sale on RW for $96, down from $160, so that may be a nice substitute for those looking to get a cheaper alternative to the Noosa’s!
Hey Seth, completed my first 1/2 marathon this past Sunday in Ottawa, Canada 🇨🇦 “The Capital”. Not exactly the time I was aiming for, 1:44:53, but gave it my all. I invite you to come and do this race in Ottawa, Canada next year. You’re welcome to stay with me and family, wife and two girls. We’ll show you the beautiful city of Ottawa and perhaps do a bit of trail/nature running too 😉. Good luck in the recovery and hope to see you in Canada one day 🤙😃
Oh look its total running productions, He's looking in a pretty good running shape
Bolder Boulder 1:03. Missed my “run your age” target of 59, that hill! This is a race for maybe 10,000 people and a party for the other 40,000. Maybe show the unofficial food stations (Oreos, bacon, Doritos, …) or slip-n-slides next year. Trivia: Rick Rojas won the first BB. His daughter Nell ran the pro race and won the community race a few years ago.
Qd: I ran my first 12 hour race this weekend. I ended up with 52.5 miles. My goal was 100km but about 4 hours in I realized I was not gonna make that goal due to my knee begins to not work. So I adapted and overcame and set the new goal of a double marathon. That race was really mentally challenging but i like that format because I feel as if I learned alot and was able to push myself mentally even more than physically.
When I think of the Bolder Boulder, my mind remembers Frank Shorter and Artuto Barrios!
QD: I did not run a race but did run a long one on Memorial Day, 25.5 miles on one of my favorite local routes in Colorado Springs, encircling Mount Rosa. What a great day for a long run!!
Great race footage Seth. I’ll be there next year!
Hey that’s me!! I didn’t know you were there or I would have said something. I was pretty miserable though, so I don’t blame myself for not noticing 😂
Bolder Boulder 10k hit a Pr of 47:30! I saw you out there filming! Great day for a race here in Boulder
QD: championship Masters (35Y+) this weekend. I had to replace someone on the high jump because he was injured. With brutal force I managed 1,40m and was placed 9th out of 12. Not bad for someone that had not done that for 25years 🙂. I had to run the 4x400m relay (also for the first time - as I'm a long distance runner) and broke the club record for 35Y+... You can image my surprise and utter happiness. That was a good weekend. DGR strong
At min 4:20 the guy in front was Dr Josh In The Long Run TY. (Bowerman shirt) great video 👏🏼👏🏼
Love your vids!🇿🇦
QD: I have raced my third half marathon and set new personal best, which was 9min faster then last year on the same course. But the aim was to be 10min faster. And I just couldn't do it, but I gave everything I had and paced myself perfectly, my mind wanted to give up(start walking) like 10 times in last 3km but I kept going and finished with only 150 meters walk in the beggining of last km. So I am apsolutely happy and proud of myself for giving everything I had and executing plan perfecly. So the blame falls on the training, have to learn more and train better.
QD: EDINBURGH MARATHON on Sun 29 May, I ran a 3:35:07, was hunting for a 3:20 (steady downhill for 10k at start), but the Vancouver marathon 4 weeks ago (3hr38) and Manchester marathon 4 weeks before that (3hr27) sadly caught up with me, but wouldn't change a thing. The training for the last 6 months and then 3 maras in 8 weeks was awesome (but probably never again haha). Great video today too Seth !
Was that this weekend? I live 6 blocks from downtown Boulder and I entirely missed it! I've gotten used to avoiding COVID, so I don't go out much. But I'd think I'd at least notice the Bolder Boulder. Oh well.
QD: I run my first 1/2 marathon last Sunday. It turned out I wasn't prepared for it yet. First 10k went pretty smoothly, but then the heat and the distance got me, and I barely finished with the result 2:48. Other runners were very supporting though and I was really cheared on my finish. Good first start even though it was really hard to survive till the end.
QD: I didn’t have a race this past weekend but I do the following week: Ragnar relays in Snowmass Village. First ever Ragnar and first race at such altitude and format. My relay team is def not the fastest so not expecting any type of high position finish, but so excited for the experience and to see what I’m capable of.
5:31 52,000, I have never done a race that big. The biggest event I've ever done would probably be the Detroit Marathon, which gets I think around 24 or 25 thousand, in all races; I've only done the 1-mile, 5K, and half marathon at Detroit, I've never done the full.
QD: Bolder Boulder 10k on Monday. I was looking around to spot you Seth, just came up short. Knew you would be out there. It was a beautiful day. Maybe next year I'll bump into you. Thanks for all the support out there, it's an amazing Memorial Day celebration
I've raced 2 Boulder Boulders and our team won the citizens race and our teammate won also back in the 90's
QD: wasn't a race a such just a half parkrun effort. Was 11 seconds slower than my time the week before, but was a lot windier. Concrete surface and bit of woodlands with longs straights and a couple of hills. Not the quickest course you can run, but a course that will get you strong. My race this week is tomorrow a stacked 5k race, hoping to run quicker than 15:45 for a nice pb. Also 6 of us running from our club Swindon Harriers so extra reason to run well and beat a team mate. And only one way to go into race and that's "go hard or go home" and try and Butter that 🍞 lol
QD - no racing but did do a running tour of all the veteran memorials in a couple of towns - about 5 miles.
Ran a 800m windy conditions but did PR 1:57
PRETTY TOWN
Qd: ran a community road 5k, and I got third place and first in the age div. The time was a little slower than I’d like since I was still undergoing my post track season break.
5:48 I sometimes wonder if being at the front of a running race is like being at the front of a bike race, guys might be talking to each other, wondering are we actually the front or is there a rake up the road out of site 🙂. I been at the front of a bike race, not really the front of a running race.
3:10 was that Dathan and his daughter?
QD: Virtual , in the park, 5km race. At age 44 I managed to do PR 22,38 :)
Mr.james...no more elite runners in BB10k?I had seen videos of the 80s and 90s...uuff...saludos
If they didn’t come back two hundred years ago, it’s likely cause some Indian took issue with their freedom being taken.
Great footage Seth.
When are you going to run the bolder boulder??
I think he’s done it in the past
QD: Sunday I did my first race ever! 25k 1800d+ in 3:40. So proud of myself even do I could have pushed for 3:30
Can you make a video about the nike streakfly
Wurzburg Marathon 3:25:42. Was aiming for sub 3:25.
My GPS recorded 26.49M. Is this usual to have a distance difference that great? Anyone can reply.
There weren't many runners so I didn't need to weave much.
Almost guaranteed to run farther than 26.2 given the fact that the course is measured on the shortest route. We often don’t run the exact shortest tangents for the course. The more turns and curves in the course, the farther we will run. I’ve had marathon GPS distances from 26.3 to 26.45…never just 26.2.
Corroborating that yes, it’s very rare to be under 26.3 and more typical to be in the 26.4+ range. You’d have to run the shortest measured distance cutting every tangent on every turn to get close, and every small deviation from that adds up over such a long distance. Martha
What are the top 5 running shoes you would recommend sub $150 for daily use with walks, jogs and treadmill use?
There’s a really underrated Brooks shoe for $100 called the Revel. I think it’s on version 5 and maybe soon 6; whenever it does get reviewed it’s always praised. I’m mentioning it not only is it a really solid shoe, but it’s extremely versatile. It doesn’t feel or look like a “budget shoe”. It’s ideal for travel because it looks really nice, it’s lightweight and comfortable, 8 mm drop (which many runners consider the sweet spot) and works at all paces including being a great walking shoe. I was just conversing with Robbe from BelieveInTheRun about it and he agrees it’s a great shoe that flies low under the radar. There are just too many shoes to review and it’s not a “supershoe” or something super innovative, but it’s a great all-around shoe.
Hey mate are you close to sage canaday? Sorry don't know USA geography 😂
QD : Ran a 7k by a lake and I won. Doesn't happen often so I'll take it!
8:45 I heard this music somewhere :)
What was the winning time?
At about 7:22 I ran against that tall guy in high school haha
Dumb question, why are so few people wearing sunglasses or a hats in the race? When I run or race I'm always wearing sunglasses and a hat 😎.
Runners are weird, you’ll see a lot of guys go without glasses and a hat for the look
@@paddywiggle i think about the sun/heat...
It was actually a pretty cool morning, and it's so dry up here in Boulder you don't sweat nearly as much. I usually wear a hat to keep the sweat from pouring in my eyes but usually not necessary for me up here in Boulder now
@@run2659 gotcha, I live in the Great Lakes region and well it's basically always humid 🙂. I just stopped back at the house this morning after my 1-mile warm up, and I'm already sweating like crazy... of to do my speed work 😎.

You should have run the race. There's two extremes: Bill Rodgers, who raced ~40 times a year, and you, who could benefit a lot from getting out there more than once or twice in a training cycle. Too much analyzing and not enough going out to "battle'.
Mr. A468 at minute 6:55 has one of the worst biomechanics to performance ratio I've ever seen in a big race.
If you think your running form is bad, watch carefully and rejoice ! Hope is the last thing to die ..
Anyway, he'd run probably at least a couple of minutes per mile faster than me
