The real problem is the economy! Yes, northern tools has better tools brands but way way more expensive. Talking about warranty, right here in Florida, harbor freight offers a replacement of a broken or damage tool is available in the store.
But habour freight on their powers tools are getting where they are going so high they are for example the other day I got a 1/2 drill 650 lb compact impact gun with charger and a 4 ah. Battery 24 votes. Kivolt. . For 140 with bag . To get close to that at harbor it would be like 200. And it would not be as good.
Northern tool is extremely higher priced compared to HF. Every now and again they will have a sale but its still cheaper to go to other places and still get a cheaper deal.
I like nortgern tool. They need to make ther instore brands more intriguing like klutch and iornton but for milwaukee,sthil,welding,towing,truck add onscits great

Northern Tool is marketed towards agricultural, industrial and municipal customers.

HF doesn't have name brand tools. Rochester MN has a Northern tool. I never thought of them being even similar.

Northern tool is more comparable to tractor supply not harbor freight. Northern tool shares the same Chinese imported tools as harbor freight.

Unless you want heavier equipment.....or a big trailer. If you are a car guy, yeah, Harbor Freight is the place to go.
