As a person that works as a copier technician, seeing stuff like this makes me appreciate even more the technology and advancements we have today in the copier industry.Without the efforts, persistence and experimentation of those involved, we wouldn't have the foundation for laser printers.
Many years ago i heard a story about this machine or the 3600. The Russian ambassy in the USA had bought (or leased) one. RX worked together with the CIA and had a 16 mm filmcamera built in that would make a pic of every document that was copied. And once in a while a technician of RX would “maintenance” the machine and replace the film spool.
The iron lad of photocopiers. And the fuser gets hotter than a broiler! It comes standard with a built in ABC fire extinguisher. If paper gets wrapped up in the fuser and it jams, guaranteed smoke in the copier room! There's a melting link wire above the fuser, and if the jammed paper in the fuser catches fire, the wire breaks and the extinguisher goes off, What a mess!
