But a metro can carry hundreds of people at once but consuming almost the same space as hyperloop ☺. So Metro is definitely a worthwhile than a metro in terms of both business and space management 👌

Happy to see the right person picked for the Job. More power to her and wish all the success. I am dual city resident. In last 5 years I have spent time in Mumbai and New york exactly 50-50 % ratio. I live in the eastern suburbs and sorry to say the traffic situation is as bad as bangalore and delhi. Mumbai motorists and Autorickshaw are generally very empathetic and honest in the past compared to otheer cities but in last year I experienced that things had deteriorated terrible. Found rude Autorickshaw guys, Uber drivers who don't showup and Bus situation terrible due to traffic delays.
    Its a stark reality and am so happy to see this development and I think Mumbai has potential to be like New york at least in term of transport logistics. Good Luck and wish you lots of success Ms Bhide. You make us proud.

Two parallel high capacity lines do the job well. If they didn't work, Mumbai would have exploded long back. The Ghatkopar-Versova metro is a mere connecting link between the western and central lines.

    What Mumbai is doing is very smart. However from my viewpoint I have a few suggestions.
    First of all make the underground/subway stations very easily accessible in all neighborhoods. This Will greatly reduce how many people will have to be on the road as it will make it so people don’t even have to drive to the subway station. It can literally just be an easy walkable distance from all housing areas.
    Second of all make this system go into the basement of almost every important economic building in the entire city. I know that would be hard but it would take thousands of people off the road a day as they could literally take the metro straight from their house to their place of work.
    Third of all, make this a higher speed metro. Some people are detoured from taking metro systems as they are slow and can add time to their commute. If this rail can somehow get up to fourth miles per hour in just twenty seconds after leaving a station. Then this metro line could be really convenient and also greater reduce the number of people on the road.
    Just some of my personal suggestions. I know no one is going to listen to them but I just thought I’d share them 😀😀😀
    In my opinion adding those three things alone could help reduce the number of people in the road by the millions!

      @@sauravchoudhary1742 I think Odd Even is silly, and people will work around it. It would be an enforcement nightmare, and many people would probably take to having 2 license plates. The most efficient way to move massive amounts of people, cheaply, is through private bus. the problem is that they have to compete with other cars on the road, and can be stuck in traffic alongside cars. If you create special lanes for buses, or don't allow cars at all on the roads, buses could move much faster, and get people to where they want to go. If a bus corridor becomes too busy, then it will make economic sense to turn that corridor into a metro line.

      That's what We guys should do.
      But things don't work like that here in India.
      In my city when Government installed the BRT system, all the taxi and rickshaw drivers went on a strike against it. That was probably 7 or 8 years ago.
      In India not enough jobs are available thanks to our forefathers obviously. The government just can't afford to bring in policies that somehow results in reduction in job opportunities.

    lol Mumbai is the 3rd most densely populated city in the world, not 2nd... cuz the first is Manila within Metro Manila... and 2nd is Ebeye in Marshall Islands which is a city compacted on a tiny island... then even 3rd before Mumbai is Pateros within Metro Manila but it is a municipality rather than a city

    • @Banzybanz
      @Banzybanz 6 років тому

      Ebeye is too small. It wouldn't even qualify as a town under Maharashtra's laws. The list was for large metropolitan cities. I thought Dhaka was first. Mumbai the city has a very small area (430 sq.km.) and a population density of over 30000.

    Look at those highways: 2&1/2 lanes of cars randomly occupying 4++ lanes of space!
    There are huge gains to be made just by painting white lines and maybe enforcing them with lights and bollards here and there.
    When they get computer-driven cars that can move in platoons a couple of feet away from each other, their efficiency increases will be huge.

    • @anupamtiwari5587
      @anupamtiwari5587 3 роки тому

      The issue is with the mentality of the people. Roads everywhere have clear demarcation for lanes yet people ignore them. And this isn't just in Mumbai but all of South Asia, if not more.

      They are waiting for their next station. In Mumbai local trains if you get up from your seat after your station is announced, there is a good chance that you'll miss it. So people have to keep in mind when their destination is coming and get up at the right time to have a minimal time standing in the crowd. Stop judging with the limited data that you have.
