      Japanese cars are insanely popular in Asia, Chinese are influenced by Japanese cars because they want similar design but want to one up Japanese cars, so the massive Chinese market forces the German cars to look more like Japanese cars and German luxury cars are much larger than Japanese cars, so Japanese feel a need to increase the size too.

    3:13 very interesting to see a western vintage themed house in a block of modern Japanese homes. It's my first time seeing a house of that kind in Japan.

      I noticed a lot of the houses have similar architecture to American houses.
      I also see a lot of roofs slanted to one side.
      A lot of driveways appear to be covered-are hail storms common in Japan?

    I totally agree about parking lots being dangerous at the super markets. I used to be one of the people who collected the carts from the storage pins. Many times I was almost hit because the drivers would not look around and drive fast when coming in or out of the center.

    Japan: big car are impractical
    US: small cars arw impractical
    People in japan would freak out if they saw a Ford Ecoline van or Chevy Express van both can carry up to 15 people. SUV are called that because they occasionally are used for recreation, or off roading and they are used to carry people or cargo and tow trailers, boat, camping trailers. That's why they are called SUVs.

    I like this trend where I live because all the newer cars are big Tesla and other electric cars and SUV, so they have started making parking spaces bigger in all the newest shopping places. As a big guy, this is a trend I can get behind. Sometimes it is no fun trying to open your door and not touch the car next to you as you get out because you only have like 20 cm of space!

    I think this trend won't be discouraged, in part because of the current state of the Japanese economy but more importantly... the eternal need by men for a "gentleman's extension".

    Tbh, I'd take the big Japanese MPVs over SUVs here in the UK any day, especially with how low down they are compared to pickups and SUVs. As an example of why, a couple of months ago, I was driving down a High Street near me, and there was a Ford Ranger behind a Mitsubishi Fuso Canter, and the Ranger's bonnet was at the same height as the bottom of the windscreen of the Cant (doubt that's any good for pedestrian visibility). They don't seem to be as good for Japan though, but tbh, I'd honestly love to see tons of kei cars and kei trucks on our roads, with how brilliant they'd be for towns and cities up and down this country (personally, I'd buy one in a heartbeat)

    We get the Suzuki Wagon R here in the Netherlands as well. While I can't deny its utility, I think its design is very bland.
    My family and I are all Nissan enthusiasts, just great cars. I drive a 2004 Nissan Micra K12 and I love its looks and it drives and handles a lot better than any other similarly sized car I have ever driven :)

    It's a global trend along with the grey and black human storage boxes as you call them. It's sad that Japan is unquestioningly following what everywhere else is doing. When I was growing up, Japan had its own identity. Sure, the customs/traditions are still there, but from an aesthetical point of view, they're not really doing anything to set themselves apart from the rest of the world anymore. In the 80's, 90's and 2000's, you saw a Japanese car off in the distance and you could tell it was Japanese from the design alone. Not so much anymore. The world has become extremely homogenised over the course of the 2010's to now and I don't like it one bit.

    Seems like a pretty upscale neighborhood hence bigger cars. There are various sizes of SUV's and they're not all gigantic like a Toyota Land Cruiser. My Nissan is called an SUV but only seats 5. Things get serious SUV's when talking about seating 6-8 people. And as shown here, those are BIG. My point is that the SUV doesn't always meed those large cars.

  • @dragade101
    @dragade101 2 місяці тому

    SUV just is SUV. It no longer means anything. Well kind untrue. Its the desired form factor for protection details and security teams that are looking to be a bit dressy. Otherwise police co-op this. Maybe cause they are easier to take cover from but when have police been able to afford proper armoured cars.
