In this video, we have addressed several frequently asked questions about Bipolar Disorder.
1. What is Bipolar Disorder?
Bipolar disorder (also known as Manic depressive illness or bipolar affective disorder) is a mood disorder characterised by episodes of illness.
Mood episodes in bipolar disorder could be either manic episode, depressive episode, hypomanic episode and mixed episode.
--Depression symptoms
Feelings of sadness, tearfulness, emptiness or hopelessness
Angry outbursts, irritability or frustration, even over small matters
Loss of interest or pleasure in most or all normal activities, such as sex, hobbies or sports
Sleep disturbances, including insomnia or sleeping too much
Tiredness and lack of energy, so even small tasks take extra effort
Reduced appetite and weight loss or increased cravings for food and weight gain
Anxiety, agitation or restlessness
Slowed thinking, speaking or body movements
Feelings of worthlessness or guilt, fixating on past failures or self-blame
Trouble thinking, concentrating, making decisions and remembering things
Frequent or recurrent thoughts of death, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts or suicide
Unexplained physical problems, such as back pain or headaches

Bipolar disorder type 1, Bipolar disorder type 2 and Rapid cycling bipolar disorder
3. What causes Bipolar disorder?
Both biological and environmental factors together lead to bipolar disorder.
4. Can Bipolar disorder be treated?
Yes, there are effective treatments for bipolar disorder including acute treatment and maintenance treatment. There are various components of treatment include medications, psychoeducation, psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and electroconvulsive therapy
5. What can patients and family members do for better outcomes of bipolar disorder?
There are multiple things patients and family members can do regarding this illness. The most important step is to have authentic information regarding the illness. In addition, it is necessary to remain adherent to treatment and have regular consultations with Psychiatrists.

is beemaaree ke sambandh mein rogee aur parivaar ke sadasy kaee cheejen kar sakate hain. sabase mahatvapoorn kadam beemaaree ke baare mein praamaanik jaanakaaree hona hai. isake alaava, upachaar ka paalan karana aur manochikitsakon ke saath niyamit paraamarsh karana aavashyak hai.

You should not stop medicines without consulting your Psychiatrist.
I understand that sometimes there are some side effects. You can discuss about these issues with your Psychiatrist. Still, if you are not satisfied, you can always take a second opinion from another doctor.
The low energy and low mood may be because of poor adherance to treatment.

I am epileptic since childhood tried to suicide two times beore my 18 yrs , i stabled epileptic medicine but could not cure or stop it is still continuing.

Interesting question.
We need to understand 2 things first.
1) Bipolar disorder is an episodic illness. In between the episodes, patients have some awareness that they are suffering from a mood disorder.
2) Insight (i.e., patient's awareness of being ill) is not either present or absent. It exists in a continuum.
Most patients have fair amount of insight during the episodes of hypomania and depression.
However, the insight may be absent or partially present during episodes of mania or severe depression with psychotic symptoms.

This is a difficult question to answer, because the risk of Bipolar disorder depends on both genetic and environmental factors.
In a meta-analysis by Lapalme et al., it was found that children of parents with Bipolar disorder are 2.7 times more likely to develop mental disorders than children of parents without any mental disorder.
