i prefered MT here, but I see how firebac won, feel like he's better at capitalizing on his own skills to the music. MT really deserves to hit some big finals tho fuark
Both of these guys came to battle! I loved watching how they were both naturally playing with the music and becoming the music more so then just trying to destroy the other dancer. Could of went either way for me, both are top tier at what they do! I personally think a tie breaker would of been nice though...
Round 1: firebac had better popping and momentum to a slow song. Mt Pop looked a bit lost at the start of the round when he had his arm out. He was analyzing the song too much. But he was first to go too so i don't know. I give this to firebac either way cause he looked good for a slow song. Round 2: Mt Pop had a funky style to a funky song. He was the life of the party. You can clearly see him change his style whereas firebac seem to have kept the same style from round 1 but changed up the speed. I give this to MT cause he molded into the song better than firebac. Round 3: Pretty fucking close. I still think the fact that Mt Pop can change up his style to match any song is a great feat. He did it in every round. Slow, funky and musical fun. Firebac has a consistent style and doesn't wander too far away from it but does it so well that it doesn't matter. As a spectator, I prefer watching someone who can dance in many styles because it's more entertaining. I give MT a small edge over firebac but wouldn't mind a draw. I would love to see them battle it out again.
Firebac seems to me like a guy who was a natural at animation/control styles and then he got into boogaloo and practiced his ass off.... That man is unreal.
I thought Firebac took it :3 or it was a tie. Tough decision :3 MT Pop more fun to watch through the screen but I bet when you are there, Firebac's insane level of control is more prevalent ^_^ Look at his controls carefully, it showed the difference in the levels. I am still trying to digest how he can control his every single movement like that when he is letting himself go like a liquidy liquidy movement and to think his strobing is so clear to the camera must mean it is super high level :3 MT is just more fun to watch coz he does tricks with the goooood feeling
I thought it was a tie but I was feeling MT more. Firebac has insane control and flows like liquid. He's like a specie underwater. His hits feels more natural, effortless and subtle. He's very wavy when he pops. Looks like he's not even made of flesh and bone. He's like guitar strings being plucked. On the other hand, MT has lines, angles and aggression like carving the air. He also looks like he has puppet strings being controlled by some greater being cause it always comes out so flawless to the music. When he hits really hard, he looks like a demon possesses him and takes control. Makes it fun to watch cause I honestly don't think he's human either.
MT was more original but Firebac was pretty much flawless and we have to remember that this is a strict popping event and popping is judged before anything else including tricks, new moves etc and Firebac's popping was flawless while MT's was not.
Serious, I respect the DJ cause it’s Batsu I’m pretty sure and he’s been in the game for a long time but why would you play a slo jam in a battle? just because it’s a talk box song?
I love this comment so much. I honestly wish more people would be honest and just make it known that tracks like this are trash for popping battles. Keep it old school... some electro and funk, etc... The music GREATLY affects the way the dancers perform.
I'm more of a fan of MT, as I don't watch much of firebac, but firebac definitely won. These past two events for MT have not been his best. He has been battling way too much imo. Round 1: Firebac did what MT did but better. And he actually hit. Again, MT has a round he hits about 4 times in. Firebac waved and vibed the same way MT did, but he consistently hit throughout. Round 2: Clear win for firebac. MT actually hit and brought some dope bay area swag, but it was lackluster. The hopping movements are his crux. They are very corny looking. He does them way too much. Round 3: Can go either way. MT killed it despite kind of doing his usual ground floor sets. But firebac was way funkier and groovier, his footwork was 10x better. MT had more of the x factor in the last round though. I don't get the MT hype right now. He killed it at Dance Battle Vol.6 and Being On Our Groove Vol. 5 when he battle art show, but he's just not performing as well right now. As a judge Idk how you could pick MT over firebac here, despite everyone in the comments saying he should have won. Yet not one reason why besides "I like him better, therefore he should win."
Not everyone have time to breakdown each round like you do on a Sunday but if they did I'm sure you would understand why there is hype around MT. If you don't believe me, just listen to the wild cheers, facial expressions of the audience when MT dances in third round. That's not a paid audience. Sorry you do not see or feel it but a lot of us do.
Ryan Turner Firebac and MT Pop were both judges at this event, both top tier. This battle was judged by how loud the audience screamed and measured by a device. I think it was 122 to 123. It was very close considering MT's first visit to Japan, this could have gone either way.
yeh firebac was cleaner so any musicality they both had firebacs looked better. firebac is a real beast tho he reminds me of dokyun in that hes very clean and great musicality and seems to get kinda screwed by decisions a lot when i feel he took it easy. MT ive seen a little of and if im 100% honest at first i was feeling him but here i kinda felt like "ah the same tuts and floor stuff again... a lot of dancers find a great move or concept but u just dont wanna see it every single battle u know? feels repetetive and less impressive each time.
firebac has a dope ass dimestop and hit but I feel like his boog looks awkward.. I think it's because a lot of the time both his knees are bent and he has this kinda half way horse stance thing goin on which makes his rolks look lanky.
I just made a comment before I read yours. I was watching a review video of Firebac on Otis Funk's channel, and he was saying he likes Firebac's animation sequences more than his boogaloo footwork. I agree with both of you, I feel like Firebac is a guy who's best skillset is actually his control and his animation, but his boog is fire too, it just looks a bit different. He can only get better, which is scary.
slow music should be banned in top 8 and up in all popping battles. You can have slow music during qualifiers and top 32 to 16. People want to see the top poppers battle, not make love.
This is really amazing, shame the last round was muted.
Probably the dopest battle I’ve seen in a minute, both were amazing, if only slim boogie and mt pop would battle
i prefered MT here, but I see how firebac won, feel like he's better at capitalizing on his own skills to the music. MT really deserves to hit some big finals tho fuark
Agree
Firebac has grown on me dramatically over the last 3 years... jesus that first round for both was so.. peaceful to watch! Incredible.
Both of these guys came to battle! I loved watching how they were both naturally playing with the music and becoming the music more so then just trying to destroy the other dancer. Could of went either way for me, both are top tier at what they do! I personally think a tie breaker would of been nice though...
After that third round there can be no doubt...
They are both winners.

wow... I'm shocked.. one of the best battle I ever seen, regardless of the result, congrats to both!!
OMG ! Both are really great! But I think MT got this one.
What happened to the music for the last round? You need to play the music otherwise why bother even showing it.
Firebac is nasty but damn MT POPS last round in here was just murder!!! he played with that beat in ways ive never seen someone do.
watch hoan then...he is blowing mind
Yes I know about Hoan he is nastyyyyyyy.
Wow I Firebac is breathtaking! I came for MT POP but god damn, firebac's flow is mesmerizing!!

100% agree with you.
While mt's sets are really fresh, firebac's flow and spontaneity prevailed in this one. Really enjoyable!!!
both were dope but mt took it for me
ya MT's third round was really dope
MT definitely should of won, no bias i'm fan of firebac too
naw MT just took fun part of the song. Firebac took it
Real Talk my nigga, i too concur with your deliberation. MT Pop i feel took the win right here.
1ST ROUND Fireback 2nd round no winner and 3rd round fireback got smocked. winner MT pop.
MT pop has been an unstoppable train for a min now but firebac definitely takes this one
3ラウンド目firebacオシャレすぎるし、MTポップはキモすぎる。(褒め言葉)

First song was garbage, are they on a date or in a popping battle?

Not the best camera angle for popping
Dj's stop playing this slow music during battles,
why not
that song was made for sex, even the lyrics are about that...it's not a battle song in any way and it's a bit cringe

Absolutely not, I loved that slow music. Shows a different side of popping and they nailed it both
More slow music, things get boring if it's all one speed
First “beat” awful af
Why is the music so trash!!!
WTF. IS THIS GARBAGE MUSIC
