    Awesome mate! I lived in Chile and down the road to south several times. Chile is a truly old school road trip, adventure and open the map to find a spot. I salute you to not mention spot names. Chile still these kind of surf trip that you have to search and find by himself the spots. Truly adventure. Please let’s keep this kind of surf trip alive. Internet generation just want the name of spots and how to get there.
    Cheer’s mate.

      Yeah exactly!! Just one to get on the road and just explore! Sick place and can't wait to go back!!
      I only ever name well known spot that already well on the map, but either ways, there's still a ton of coastline out there to explore!!

    Stoked on the content! Curious if you could provide some info on the sweep/current on these days with swell? Would be super useful for people like me who want to travel and get waves but unfortunately work at a desk and don’t surf every day. Thanks, Dan!!

    Very helpful. Thank you. I've been in Swakopmund in July and August (not good enough to surf Donkey's) and now I will fly to J-Bay for September and October followed by Sri Lanka for the rest of the year. I was looking for a place for January and February and it seems I found a place to go.
    Swakopmund could be a place for you to visit. It's cheap, safe, has very good food, empty line up's but many dolphins and a very good vibe. I liked it. Although the quality of the waves of the local surfspots aren't that good like those you showed in your video.

    The filming thing is a touchy subject. A lot of locals at semi secret spots will take exception to people filming at their spot. Fair enough I'd say. It's hard when you're filming a travel vlog, but that's just the way things are. You have to see things from their perspective. Their waves are uncrowded partly because they are isolated but also because they are under the radar. With social media this can change overnight. I've seen it happen.
    Since you're on your own I imagine if you hadn't been filming then the locals would have been pretty friendly. I have been to some notoriously localised spots and been treated very well by the locals after showing respect at the start. Hawaii is a good example of this.

    • @DanHarmon123
      @DanHarmon123  Рік тому +1

      Yeah its super interesting and something I struggle with a lot when I travel. A lot of the time I don't film when the waves are good for this reason!! But yeah i totally respect how people don't want their spots blown up so I try and keep names and locations under wraps for lesser known spots. On this particular day, there were three cameras on the beach anyway hahah!!

    Thanks for the great info with an honest & humble style. Planning a trip down that way for September. Have my eye on a point down south (chiloe region) that looks like can only be accessed via 2 day hike or boat. Prevailing wind is offshore. It appears this spot has yet to be discovered by the masses. Anyone know what I’m talking about? Can’t find evidence this spot has been surfed, but wouldn’t doubt there is a local crew keeping it on lockdown.

      Hi, it depends, because if you arrive to Santiago, then you have to drive/bus/flight to Puerto Montt, and then go to Chiloé, by water is about 90 kms.
      There is a flight you can take from Santiago to Castro, thats about 20 kms. to Chiloé.
      In Chiloé there are several buses that can take you to other cities around, and to other islands.
      And yes, you are right what you say is not yet discovered by the masses, and is a really beautiful place to visit, also people is really kind and definitely you will not starve...tons of food there.
      Hope you enjoy my country 🎉
