The way Piranesi had me questioning my own sanity because I for sure knew this was a definite fantasy genre until the ending 😅 definitely a 5 ⭐️. I read it on Kindle but I plan to purchase a physical copy and eventually listen on audiobook- I’ve heard the audio is phenomenal.
Ellias, you're the reason I'm broke. All these books haha and Im currently reading Ship of Magic and when I tell you NO OTHER AUTHOR and NO OTHER BOOK has made characters I wanted to choke like this ever before. Kyle?! I really started screaming at the things he said sometimes. Im finishing it up tonight so Im excited you thought the other 2 books were even better!! Robin Hobb is out of this world.
Piranesi was one of the last books I read in 2022 and it was such a good book to end the year on. It's honestly phenomenal, I really couldn't put it down. The fact that you named your cat Piranesi after the book is brilliant, he's so beautiful
I loved I’m Glad My Mom Died for the exact reasons you said too! I think her book might be healing for a lot of people who find themselves in complicated parental relationships.
Piranesi was one my absolute favourites, too. I adored Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo, it's in my top 3 books of 2022. I really liked the Kingdoms by Natasha Pulley, The Sword of Kaigen by M. L. Wang, and The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin.
LOL not you sounding like Mufasa when your voice went deep talking about Piranesi i'm dying. but also solidified the fact that i need to read that book.
Basically spent the whole summer rereading books 1 and 2 of Stormlight and theb finally getting to 3 and 4. The series has its ups and downs but overall I think it's incredible. There're definitely easter eggs and things that only make sense if you've read his other cosmere books, but my parents both read the series this year without ever reading his stuff before and loved it so I think it's fine to go on, then read other stuff and go back to the parts that now make more sense 😂
Honestly thank you! I know most of your favorites are mine too, so even if I was still torn about reading House of Hollow, I gave it a try and I absolutely loved it!! Happy reading, it is always great to hear about what you like.
Piranesi is one of the few books for which I will have a Hardcover on the shelf, and a paperback for multiple reads and annotations ☺ one of my all time faves too.. can't wait to re-read!
Ellias, this video had me laughing so much with the sound effects and the part about annoying children. 😛 You make all the books sound so intriguing and I really want to go get Piranesi now. Happy new year and I hope you have a wonderful 2023.
Haha, my last two books of 2022 were The Way of Kings part 1 and 2. And I just finished Warbreaker (wich is a lot of fun and much faster paced)! What a coincidence. 😄
And here I was thinking I would get some good recs, but I actually already read almost all of them haha, most because of you Ellias :) So thanks for the recommendations throughout 2022 :)
The crazy part of the Farseer books is, I’m pretty sure, it was supposed to be just one. And the Fool was a minor character. And it just spawned and grew. Ugh I love Fitz so much even though he’s so dumb.
Piranesi really does look so grumpy! :') When it comes to books that've gone over your head a bit, I find it's often a good idea to look for discussions or analyses online so you can understand it a bit better and remember more ready for the next installment. Might be helpful for the Brandon Sanderson books! Also....you've finally convinced me to read Piranesi
The Realm of the Elderlings is my favorite series. I've lost track of how many times I've re-read it. The ending is so good! I wish I had named my cat Piranesi. I don't know why I didn't think of that name on my own, since it's my favorite stand-alone book
I haven't been keeping up to date with videos at all, so last time I saw Pira he was a kitten and now suddenly I see this beautiful, massive, fluffness!!! I was not prepared. He's absolutely goooorgeous.. I love big cats! All fluff and cuteness, with extra grumpiness. Perfection! (and yes, great selection of books! ahah I have to start reading Robin Hobb soon. Right now I'm delving into the Percy Jackson's books and absolutely loved the 1st one. Why did I wait so long to start this series??)
@@ellias oh yes, it becomes an extra on the clothes and, if we find somebody that also has cats, chances are we'll be talking about them when one notices the hair. All good! (I do have one of those rolls that remove them, but meh, not worth it - it's irrelevant if I pick my cat up before leaving the house to say goodbye xD)
@@ellias I've just finished Assassin's Apprentice and am in love!! What an amazing world and characters she creates! Def will read tons of her work this year. Thank you for putting us all on her novels ;)
I also have a lot of Robin Hobb on my best of the year video! She is incredibe. Do not despair with the Rain Wild Chronicles, you have to read them in order to get to the really good stuff - The Fitz and the Fool.
Aww your cat has grown so much!! My favorite books of the year were 1. The House in The Cerulean Sea by Tj Klune - So wonderfully whimsical and happy. 2. I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson - This is great for anyone who loves art. 3. The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson 4. The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern 5. Jo & Rus by Audra Winslow 6. Mashle Vol 1 by Hajime Komoto 7. The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson 8. The Okay Witch by Emma Steinkellner 9. Book Lovers by Emily Henry
I mean if you wanna read Words of Radiance without reading Warbreaker, you absolutely can. If you wanna read the entire series without reading anything else by him, you absolutely can.
I loved Warbreaker! But I don't think you need to read it before continuing with Words of Radiance - which is my favorite so far in the Stormlight Archives.
I approve of the name Piranesi for your kitty! 😸 one of my kitties is named Penny Dreadful after the... well... Penny Dreadfuls 😆 she's my pretty little Princess Penny 👑
The Way of Kings is one of the best epic fantasy books I've ever read omg!! Yes, you really don't understand a thing about the world-building for the first half of it (actually fans of his work say The Stormlight Archives series should not be the first series you read when approaching Brandon's works, as they are all connected within the same universe, but whatever, we like the challenge of reading a 1000+ pages book), but the characters!! The characters!! The action scenes!!! Brandon Sanderson is a master of (epic) fantasy, I'd suggest his books to any fans of the genre
I recommend you check out Remarkably BeautifulCreatures by Shelby Von Pelt . It was my #1 of 2022. The narration of the audiobook is amazing . It’s a very unique story.
Welcome to the group of people who fell victim to Brandon Sanderson's wonderful writing! Mistborn is my babe and I stand by that. Way of Kings is a chonky boy that's for sure You can go into Words of Radiance if you want but you'll miss some nice little treats from people who read Warbreaker. Nothing to worry about tho
uff but 100 fantasy books would be a tough goal, aren’t fantasy books often huge bricks? maybe a page goal would be more realistic for a year like that:)
The video description says "get your first book for only 5 dollars" when its supposed to be 9.99! just letting you know incase that messes up anything with your sponsorship or something (idk how that stuff works lol). your videos are great btw

it goes so hard ngl
Pira’s face is everything hahaha
FRFR
When he held up Piranesi my heart squeezed so hard

Pira is soo lovely! I agree Way of Kings, Piranesi = perfection
My favourite of 2022 was Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell
Ellias, you're the reason I'm broke. All these books haha

Going to pick some of these up for my reading list. 👏 Thank you for doing this list and summaries!

EASILY!
I live for how angry Piranesi looks 😂

You don’t really need to read warbreaker now. Just read it when you want, you’re not gonna miss anything. You can make connections afterwards :D
