    My grade school was on the north end of the south runway which was the only runway used as the north runway was primarily for general aviation use. Our teachers would pause talking until the noise of the aircraft taking off to the east and the windows would stop rattling. I also remember in 1970 when we were let out of class to watch the first American Airlines 747 land from the playground. It was huge and seemed to barely move. Great times plane spotting through the years.
