No way! I just created a new Mesmer yesterday to finally try out Chronomancer. Did not enjoy the other open world builds I found, which used sword etc. Thanks a lot for all the build videos!
I just finished putting together a PVirt build for open world the other day just for burst, but I think I'll probably switch over to this. I just really prefer Chrono. Thanks for the guide!
Mesmer can get protection from the Illusionary Avenger from shield 4, and when you're by yourself in the open world, Seize the Moment is much much better than Stretched Time. You already apply alacrity to yourself, so the first half of Stretched Time is meaningless, and there's enough downtime between fights that your skills will already be off cooldown by the time you need them. I find that I get significantly more value from quickness, as that not only helps me in combat, but it also helps with gathering materials since quickness affects your gathering speed. Otherwise good build! Great starting point for anyone wanting to get into chronomancer for the first time in the open world
I was using Virtuoso from the summer to when SotO released. Then with the Weaponmaster I've switched back to Chronomancer with Dagger... I've had lots of fun with the Dagger but I've been using my Power Chrono for map completion and just tried Scepter out two days ago without changing any gear out. Scepter feels better to me than the Dagger. It does a surprising amount of Strike damage and the clone generation and short cooldown block help make it more survivable and better able to use Shatters.

Thanks for your work here. I have been looking for a mesmer build I might like for open world, metas, etc.

Can you show your build with scepter please?
For anyone looking at this, it requires HoT, EoD, and SotO expansions to play.
so if I would go the extra mile and make an dedicated open world gear how would that build look?
I just got back playing some gw2 after a long break. Is chono a good char nowadays? I kind of really like it.
I'll check this later... My Chrono is being at alt parking city for too long..
Ditto. I was thinking that my Chrono was also too pretty to sit idle for so long.
i don't have soto expansion what to do without dagger
You can use a greatsword too. Pretty much the same playstyle:)
