Great video, thanks. Any advice on how to get rid of audio echo? It's only on the recorded part. I've tried to adjust sync offset. When I monitor audio, it sounds fine.
Thanks. I checked that as well. I made sure the audio monitor is off. Recorded a sample, and I'm still getting it. I think it's something to do with the bit rate, but I'm not sure how to adjust that. I followed the instructions in this video to set the aspect ratio. I hope it's not the fps. It seems it happens more when I try to record a long video. Almost 5 hrs. Very good instructions I like it. The only thing is that I can not fast forward the video in my computer. Maybe is in the program OBS can I do something to changer
Definitely a good capture card - though with your VCR I'd have used S-Video out. I've tried the higher end Sony VCRs like that (believe you have an SLV-R1000 there), but the lack of line TBC in that VCR as there's often significant "tearing" or the upper part of the frame will all be shifted to one side a bit. You can actually see it in this video capture demoed in this video - the top maybe 1/10th of the picture is shifted to the left - pretty easy to see if you look at the small black bar on the left. It's fairly mild here, but can be worse depending on the tape. For some reason the high end Sonys seem to do that worse than any other brand and definitely worse than basic consumer VCRs, or that's been my experience anyway. Happy converting!
Thanks for watching. This video is intended for basic, easy setup. Most vcrs that people have do not have an “S -Video” connection. OBS can be pretty in-depth and using an s connection requires a bit more setup which will be covered in a future video.
@@TheMediaNerdMT I have a SVCR, can you tell me how to get the Svideo cable to work in OBS studio? I do see where I can change the input to S-Video in OBS and that seems to work. Is there anything else to do?

Very helpful video, thank you. Once I convert the vhs to digital on my computer, can I edit them with this program? And can I save them to a flash drive and/or burn them on a dvd?
I do not think that this has editing features on it. A simple program to purchase is from Wondershare Uniconverter. There is a free version but it doesn't do much. The purchased version will let you do simple editing and burn to DVD. It is actaully a pretty cool program. I use it all of the time.
Thank you for good video. I'm using Mac and I don't know if it make any difference but the "Properties" window with the "Weave" check box won't show up. Also when I am recording there is no audio, but when I play the Mp4 file the audio is ok. On the audio mixer window the Mic/Aux respondes like the audio is coming from some mic? Greetings from Iceland.
You may have to check your audio settings on your mac to make sure that the input is coming from your camera. Sometimes when I am using Audacity, I can't hear the output while it is playing so I go to the audio settings on the mac and uncheck the mute button then check it. The audio then seems to work after doing that.

Before I assume and mp4 is an mp4 = x software saves mp4 the same as y software. YOu knoiw, different codecs and things I don't understand or easily forget. :) Bob
I did work with a computer many moons ago that took RCA but I don't remember a thing about it. 1. I find that the capture devise is pretty good paired with OBS. It is really nice for consumers. 2.
