  • The new Panasonic S5ii is probably the biggest news for Panasonic since the release of the GH4/GH5. Nate from @NatesFilmTutorials joins me in a discussion about what we think about the Panasonic S5ii as well as what the future may hold for Panasonic.

MC-21 and EF glass is good!!! Josh Cameron did the 16-35 and 24-70 test and I’m glad I kept my EF glass.

I ordered the s5ii the second I saw it was available for pre-order. I own 3 s5s and they are incredible for the money. Oh, and I use af often

If Panasonic would have had PDAF with the release of the S1H, I'd be using Panasonic cameras instead of Sony cameras. Sony's sensors are amazing, but the ergonomics and software is quite limited when compared to Panasonic.

      Hey hey Sky!
100% I would have never switched and went with the S1H. I'd probably still use the S1H for many years to come as its an amazing camera.

For $900 Panasonic gave G9 10bit and with extra $100 you got Vlog, waveform, more codecs etc. G9ii with pdaf will be swell

      Hey hey gromit!
Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
You are so right, I've forgotten about the G9 updates. a G9ii with pdaf would be pretty baller!
Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

Did Panasonic contact you or Nate to test drive the s5ii? as they damn well a should've!. You've both created a lot of content showing the great features of their cameras!

      Hey hey again Jerome!
It's been awhile! Nah I have not had any sort of contact with Panasonic. Now that they have finally entered the big fight, it would be great to have a contact there and give them ideas on their future cameras.

Regarding the discussion of micro-four-thirds-sized lenses for full frame, Rokinon / Samyang just released a set of tiny (for full frame) E-Mount Cine lenses with autofocus. 24mm, 35mm, & 75mm, all T-1.9.

Would think about switching, but not to the S5. The crop and frame rates make it a big step down from Sony.
Will wait to see if the S1H mark ii can match the specs of the Sony A7S III. Hope Panasonic doesn't make the S1H ii an 8K camera, as 8K probably wouldn't be able to handle high frame rates or have good rolling shutter.

      Hey hey again Michael!
Definitely waiting on the S1Hii myself as well. I also hope they do not go 8k. I don't think, price wise, that I'd want to pay a premium for a 8k sensor with a fast enough processor. I'd rather they keep the 6k and just beef up that processor.

      @@TLDR_filmmaker Agree completely.
The S1H ii only needs 6k, downsampled to 4k, with a fast readout for good rolling shutter. Would like 120p, no crops or bins.
